The employee (one of two) was miffed when I asked for a second bag for my son. Then we asked to get some jelly beans. Also not self serve. Sweet dreams are made of these! Anything and everything sugar you can imagine. They had a cockatils section, a nostalgic candy section, a jelly bean section. Everything! I love, love, love the huge selection of homemade chocolates. I can't leave any place like this without getting Jordan crackers. Also threw in a piece of Almond Butter Toffee. Deliciousness! It is an ok candy store. I felt that they could have had more candy bars and a better gummy selection. They sell Trump candy bars which melted away any sense of inclusion and fun that candy stores usually represent. People have different opinions and political affiliations and businesses like candy stores should reconsider selling political items. it was never the norm in this country to have candy bars with political figures pn them. It's alienating to some who just want to have fun in a candy store. That's the kind of thing you would see in Russia. That's my opinion. It left a very bad taste in my mouth, no pun intended. read more

Went here with my parents on Tuesday June 11th 2024 as part of our long beach vacation. We stopped by historic smithville to browse the shops, and possibly purchase something. After being in the other candy stores and chocolate shops that are in the grounds, i was surprised that none of them had the harry Potter candy--- well look no more! There was plenty of Harry Potter candy in here! From chocolate frogs to gringotts coin candy, to chocolate wands, to butterbeer candy, to bertie botts every flavor beans, to the slugs. They also have other chocolates, including fresh ones in a chocolate covered pretzel, and other chocolate covered things. And more candy! I decided to get the jelly slugs, as it was hot out and didn't want the chocolate frog even though i collect the cards that come in it. This candy store has pretty much anything you can ask for if in a gluttonous mood. We walked in and were greeted by glass cases filled with all kinds of chocolate confections. Chocolate covered pretzels, cake pops, candy apples, chocolate covered strawberries, bags of chocolates, holiday treats, etc. So much to choose from and all at a reasonable price. Friendly and helpful sevice. They also take specialty orders for events and holidays. Gift Baskets, Stackers, Sweet Trays, Wrapped Boxes and Custom Baskets are available to ship or delivery. On our way home from Atlantic City we dropped in to grab some snacks for the long ride back to NYC. That bag never made it past the half way mark home. walking around after lunch and decided to get something sweet. I WILL start off my saying it's a cute store in a good location and a ton of stuff to fancy anyone's sweet tooth. everything is nicely wrapped and they do choco covered strawberries which is a really cool thing to offer. great selection of things a lot of variety. very nice sales girl who took care of us and greeted us immediately . she must've been new and not very well trained because she rang us up and must've done something wrong while learning how to ring people up on the register while also learning how it works. there is only one way to do it but you really shouldn't let people who haven't been trained properly ring anyone up to avoid things like this. we were patient and had no issue waiting. she runs into an issue and a woman from the back comes up and shoos her out of the way very rudely. my husband and i watched as this poor sales girl was being talked down to and as she got more nervous she started talking to us and trying to lighten the mood of the situation and mouthed "i'm so sorry". the woman figuring out the situation then told her to be quiet and let her focus because it will make customers think she's trying to distract them or something (we heard this as we were walking out of the store i can't imagine what else she was told) . poor salesgirl looked like she wanted to cry and she wasn't too young either, maybe early or mid twenties, she did an EXCELLENT job and handled it exactly how i would've and was VERY professional and nice she didn't do anything wrong. we ended up getting our chocolates no matter if something went wrong but do be wary for a woman in the back. she seems nice but the way she speaks to her employees should be rearranged. i'm surprised that girl didn't quit. train your staff correctly or don't hire them and embarrass them infront of your poor customers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! won't be coming back due to this unfortunately i'm sure the owner is nice and it is a plentiful shop so i'm sure they make a lot of money but spare your second hand embarrassment please! read more

This is a cute candy shop in the historic Smithville village. It's an old fashioned candy shop with different types of candy ranging from hard candy to chocolates. Most things are overpriced,especially the chocolates by the pound but there are a few selections that are very reasonably priced, like candy sticks that are 3 for $1 and a small bag of popcorn for $1. read more

I only eat dark chocolate and they had dark chocolate marshmallows (which I never find in candy stores) and milk chocolate marshmallows. I could see that there was only one in the case (I wanted ten) and asked if there was any more. The woman told me that she had more back room and came back with the additional items. It was very crowded you could see she was a bit frazzled so I wasn't really paying too much attention. When I got home boy was I disappointed as she snuck five milk chocolate in the package. I was so disappointed I had to throw them out because I do not eat milk chocolate. The candy is delicious and a bit pricey as it is $19.99 a pound. So even throwing out five was very frustrating. I Purchased $39 worth of chocolate. And did not even get that much I also got dark chocolate cherries which were very very delicious and dark chocolate Carmel's which were as good as Russell Stover. I would say if you're in Smithville stop in but keep an eye on what you are purchasing. read more

Wife and daughter went in shortly before 6pm closing time and were treated rudely. My wife politely asked if it was ok to pick out something quickly before they closed and person behind counter said ok if you are quick. Then another woman came out from back room and loudly yelled "we are closed." Needless to say she and my daughter left and will not be back. read more

Fantastic assortment of chocolates and sweets. I think there must be something for everyone at this shop! Lots of chocolate dipped pretzels and gummy candies too. It was hot out when we visited, so we chose some pre-wrapped fudge and ate the chocolate covered strawberries on the spot. My only problem was this: there were no fudge samples out, so we only purchased 2 pieces ( about a half pound total). When we got it home and tried it, we all agreed we would have been happy to buy MORE! It was delicious. Bummer read more
