    Harry Potter Slugs!
    Jacqueline L.

Went here with my parents on Tuesday June 11th 2024 as part of our long beach vacation. We stopped by historic smithville to browse the shops, and possibly purchase something. After being in the other candy stores and chocolate shops that are in the grounds, i was surprised that none of them had the harry Potter candy--- well look no more! There was plenty of Harry Potter candy in here! From chocolate frogs to gringotts coin candy, to chocolate wands, to butterbeer candy, to bertie botts every flavor beans, to the slugs. They also have other chocolates, including fresh ones in a chocolate covered pretzel, and other chocolate covered things. And more candy! I decided to get the jelly slugs, as it was hot out and didn't want the chocolate frog even though i collect the cards that come in it. Paid with cash, and went on my merry way. ate the slugs later in the car as a snack!

This candy store has pretty much anything you can ask for if in a gluttonous mood. We walked in and were greeted by glass cases filled with all kinds of chocolate confections. Chocolate covered pretzels, cake pops, candy apples, chocolate covered strawberries, bags of chocolates, holiday treats, etc. So much to choose from and all at a reasonable price. Friendly and helpful sevice. They also take specialty orders for events and holidays. Gift Baskets, Stackers, Sweet Trays, Wrapped Boxes and Custom Baskets are available to ship or delivery. On our way home from Atlantic City we dropped in to grab some snacks for the long ride back to NYC. That bag never made it past the half way mark home. Open every day all year to cure that sweet tooth craving.

I hope it wasn't just what "we" bought, but on this trip, everything tasted like it was just made. Fresh. Delicious. Great presentation.

What an adorable candy shop! Located in the quaint Historic Smithville cottage, The Sweet Shoppe is a must stop spot! The Sweet Shoppe offers all types of sweets and candies - old and memorable treats to new decadent desserts! They have chocolates, hard candies, caramels, chocolate covered strawberries - anything and everything to satisfy your sweet tooth! I left with some hard candy sticks, something my younger self loved, and some sea salt caramels dipped in milk chocolate.

Lots of really tasty stuff using healthy dark chocolate. Staff was most helpful in finding items I was looking for.

Holy hoarding!! If there was a "businesses" edition of Hoarders, this place could be on it!…read more With a name like "Sweet Tooth," I was expecting/hoping for some kind of bakery. I was sadly mistaken. I've passed this place literally hundreds of times, and thought I'd possibly found a new (and closer) location for some red velvet. As soon as I walked in...BAM, stuff EVERYWHERE! It literally looked like my Grandmom's attic. Pans, cookie cutters, decorations, baking supplies, in no discernible order, with no discernible flow, all over the place. I wish I had taken a picture; I thought I was being sucked into Charybdis. There were aisles, but good luck walking down them if you weigh over 100lbs. I really didn't even bother walking through that part of the store. I hate baking and I ran the risk of potentially getting lost. After making a beeline for the only actual food in the store, I took some time to survey the selections. A small case of chocolate goodies, a hodge-podge of Easter candies, and bins of what appeared to be home-made confections. I stood at the chocolate case for a while, but the woman at the checkout counter (which was diagonal from the chocolate) barely looked at me, let alone asked if I wanted something. Nothing looked that enticing anyway. There was a paltry selection of sugar free candy/chocolate. No red velvet anything, anywhere. I picked up an Asher's chocolate-coated crisped rice square. I don't even like "crisped rice," but claustrophobia makes me do weird things. I also picked up some of the home-made white chocolate covered pretzels, which were very pretty, and a pouch of chocolates clearly labeled "Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter." Can't go wrong with that, right? I thought the price was a little steep; $15 for my 3 items. I've had much better and less expensive sweets from the Sweet Shoppe at Smithville (dark chocolate covered red velvet cake pops for $1!!!!!) So I get home and decide to try the dark chocolate peanut butter cups, but when I take a bite.....marshmallow. I HATE marshmallow. The bin I took them from was clearly labeled "chocolate covered peanut butter." The chocolate was good quality but, yuck. That was a waste of $5! I don't really know how this place stays open. I've never seen any cars here, the outside of the building is very shabby (with an interior to match,) and the selection of goods to remedy your Sweet Tooth (that is their name, is it not?) is sad. I saw they offer a cake decorating class, but I'm not really sure where they'd fit the people. If I really need a fix that badly, I'll just go to Wawa.

I decided to give Sweet Tooth the review they deserve because the last one just wasn't fair…read more.. I'm a baking student in culinary school so from the perspective of someone who wants to make baking a career, this place is the best! Yes, it's cluttered but its a baking supply store... boxes, cake circles, molds, tools... what do you expect? I dare any serious baker to go in there and NOT find what you're looking for. Whenever, I have an order for something, Sweet Tooth is always my first stop.
