Mar de Jade - One of the areas do sit for meals

If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind in a blissful setting, look no further…read more We spent 5 days here with our 6-year-old daughter and all three of us loved every moment. Each member of staff is delightful and helpful and ready to assist in any way possible, from booking transportation from the airport to arranging a nanny (We loved Marina, thank you!). We had booked a two-bed room with ocean view but upon check in found out we had been upgraded to a 2-bedroom suite! WOW! Our room was massive. Upon entry to the room, we entered the secondary sleeping area, with 2 twin beds and a large closet and shelf system. just beyond that was the shower, sink, and toilet area. This area is fully stocked with a variety of soaps and shampoo and conditioner, everything you need is here. Heading through the next door, you enter the main sleeping area with a king bed, a sofa, dressers, a wardrobe and a desk. Every detail has been thought of, from a water dispenser and glasses to a vase of fresh cut flowers. Beyond the sitting area is your private patio, looking out and over Mar de Jade out to the bay. The resort itself is large enough that you don't feel on top of the other guests but not so large that you can't find your way around. The pool area is lovely, we definitely spent some time at the bar drinking the amazing cocktails being created (they also have a great selection of Mexican and imported wine and beer), and the dining room is the perfect place to dine or relax. I was a little worried about the buffet-style food, never-really enjoying them before BUT the food being served at Mar de Jade is top notch. There was a salad or fruit station for each meal and then a different prepared meal each day. There was almost always a vegan or vegetarian option, and they were several GF options as well. We loved Every. Single. Meal. The staff was super accommodating, and often made our daughter molletes, or plain scrambled eggs for breakfast if the days options were too much for her. I will note, that we were there as Hurricane Roslyn was passing by and that combined with the prior storm had washed most of the beachfront away replacing it with rocks, so we were unable to enjoy the private beach but did find time to watch the sunset from the hammock palapa. We walked into Chacala to enjoy the beach and definitely recommend visiting town at least once, even if the beach is back at Mar de Jade. Make time for a spa service too, we had the most amazing massages. Next time we'll check out more of their offerings but the 90 minute massages were perfect for 2 busy parents. All in all, we loved our time at Mar de Jade and can't wait to return!

I've visited Mar de Jade many times since 1983. A safe haven far away from the crowds, surrounded…read moreby natural beauty, it was a distinguished eco-tourism/health spa center before such places became the go-to destinations for socially conscious travelers. The family-owned retreat is still run by founder Dr. Laura del Valle and her daughter Angelica, who've made a tradition of providing guests with a personalized, custom-coordinated vacation experience. While the food service, accommodations and other amenities are all top-notch, what's really interesting is how party-oriented folks can intermingle alongside the new-age types -- with mutual respect. There's just something about Mar de Jade that exudes love.

The fact that there's no front wall means that on those rare occasions when someone is below you, they can see you if you are right by the edge. But you only have to back up a few feet and you're hidden. And it's definitely worth it for the effect of being so close to the ocean. They provide snorkeling gear, and you can step into the water from just a few feet from your door. And the tiny inlet right there had tons of cool fish! I could have snorkeled all day! There's also a very small beach nearby. Otherwise, you're a pretty decent walk from town and the main beach. It was off-putting the first night we went to dinner, but Yelapa is so beautiful (and there's no hurry to do things) that we came to appreciate the nice walk to and from town. And you can't really snorkel at the main beach anyway! A couple little issues: the bed was extremely hard. We both like firm beds, but this was just too much and neither of us got a good night's sleep. There were two beds and we actually only tried one because it was in a better location (the other was right by the door and would get the blazing morning sun). But it's possible the other bed was softer, though it looked the same. The other little issue was that there wasn't really anyplace to put your clothes and bags. We didn't have much, but we ended up just keeping it on the other bed. They rented out kayaks for something like 10 pesos. When you're charging someone $100/night, you ought to just throw in the kayaks for free! But it wasn't a big deal and it was very convenient to be able to kayak from right out your door. I'd stay there again, though I'd like to try to plan a family trip and stay in the penthouse with 6 or more of us.

It's an open air structure so if you are a light sleeper, it's probably not the best place for you. Bring an eye mask as the sunlight is bright. The only negative we experienced was there was a terrible thunderstorm at night and the unit got flooded as well as filled with creepy crawlies that sought higher ground. Having said that, the staff laid out concrete the next day and we were fine the next night. Overall, we really enjoyed the stay.

He started looking at resorts and beach clubs that offered day passes during a busy time of year (Christmas holidays) and came up short. Until he was put in touch with Imanta Resort, that is. A few days later, we went, along with two other couples to spend the day at Imanta. It was quite the exclusive get-away, and just what we needed. We spent the morning on a nearby hike and then found our way to Imanta and needless to say, we were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by Jeremi, who took us in a golf cart from the reception area to the beach club. That's where we met Pete and his staff, who made us delectable drinks and eats to enjoy all afternoon long. We took turns getting pampered with some outdoor spa services and taking in one of the most scenic and beautiful beach spots in super comfortable day beds. At the end of the day, Fernando took us to reception and gave us a tour of the rooftop bar / restaurant. We were all disappointed to learn that we couldn't stay for dinner as they were full for the evening. Yes, it's pricey, but if you are in need of some quiet time at a top knotch, beautiful venue on the beach, and can make it work, I highly recommend a visit to Imanta!
