We came in on a weekday afternoon to get some great bbq. We were greeted and seated very quickly with our great waitress. The restaurant has southern bbq vibes and would be great for a hangout or date night as we had hoped and awesome daily deals. We had gone here the last time and had their brisket that was what brought us back. We were given the unfortunate news that the brisket was sold out. We didn't have much hope with the bbq pulled pork and the chicken, but we were pleasantly surprised that the two types of protein we had were even more memorable than the brisket! And the wings! There are no surprises on the menu. It is essential casual bar and grill. Hamburgers, tacos, sandwiches, salads, onion rings, fries. . . Every item on the menu can be guessed. Brisket and BBQ pork sandwiches are likely the most unique. The brisket sandwich is quite good. The area is spacious and comfortable, the staff friendly, as one might expect. I wasn't expecting too much when it came to finding BBQ in Vincennes, Indiana. But it turned out I was pleasantly surprised with BBQ from this Hoosier town. I was given confidence when I saw a BBQ food truck parked in a lot beside the restaurant. That's always a good sign. The decor seems to be recently remodeled as the joint looked pretty sharp. There are a few TVs. I did sit at the bar and it seemed like I was a kid sitting at the grown-ups table as it seemed like I was just short with the cushion of the bar in the way of my plate. I asked the waitress what she recommended between the pork and brisket and she said brisket. She made an excellent recommendation. The brisket was solid as it was a good mix of moistness, fat, and beef. It surpassed my expectations. I asked my waitress about which sides were made in-house. She said the smoked baked beans and the cheesy-bacon potatoes. The smoked baked beans were fantastic with some sweet heat. I wasn't as crazy about the cheesy-bacon potatoes. They were bland to me but I did eat all of them. There are 2 BBQ sauces on the table - a typical, sweet ketchup base and a Carolina mustard. They do have a spicy BBQ that you have to request. All sauces were pleasing. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet...well, it is Indiana so it isn't as sweet as my sweet home Alabama but the tea got the job done. The wait time when we arrived was short, and the building didn't seem to be too disheveled. Things seemed to be clean. There were a few TVs in our upstairs section which were not playing anything other than the screen saver. The wait staff seemed to take pride in cleanliness and somewhat in timeliness, but not much else. When we checked out we noticed we were hit with a 3% service fee (for a party of 2), which when we asked about it we were told that "Sometimes the upstairs computer just does that. If you pay with cash we'll take it off." Followed by them giving us the wrong change and not removing the mystical service fee. The Big Fish was a bit mushy, and was not 1 big fish but actually two fried fish filets. The toppings seemed fresh and the fries were pretty good. Definitely had better fish elsewhere. The Smoked Sampler with the choice of smoked brisket and smoked pulled chicken was horrendous. The brisket tasted like Slim Jim's and was dry as a bone. The chicken was juicy but overall lifeless and bland. The best part of the meal was the chili. We Ordered online sunday evening apprx 520pm as we were told to do via answering machine. Everything we found online said they were open til 7pm. We got on their website online and placed our order easily enough for roughly 50 bucks. We drove in to pick up the order and it turns out theyre closed for memorial day weekend..found that out from someone else trying to go in. Thats fine. We understand, but their website went ahead and let us order and took our money. Now we cant get ahold of anybody or leave a direct message to get our money refunded. There was a sign on the way in that asked patrons to be patient because they were short staffed but we went at a time where the timing wasn't affected. Our food came out hot and as ordered. The sweet tea is southern sweet tea. The Mac and cheese and baked beans are made there. The baked beans aren't sweet like you'd think but they are very good and have a lot of flavor.
