The Hen of the Woods appetizer was dry, brittle, and nearly flavorless -- more like straw than a thoughtfully prepared dish. Without the green peppercorns and Dijon mustard I happened to have with me, it would have been inedible. The Duck Confit was similarly disappointing: overcooked, dry, and again nearly impossible to enjoy without the condiments I brought. Service issues added to the frustration. The red Burgundy wine I ordered didn't arrive until nearly dessert, even after I asked another server to remind my server to bring it. Dessert came with only half a cup of decaf coffee and no cream, despite my request. Overall, I felt ignored rather than cared for. What should have been a highlight of my vacation became one of its lowest points. I truly hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously, because the experience did not match the level of quality or hospitality one should expect at this price point. Talking to the kid behind the counter (literal kid, more on that next) said it's a known problem and "we need to fix that". For example, when you order at the store, a farm fresh egg is $2. Online it's $4.99 for a farm fresh egg. 2) the kids at the counter... this seems new. There are literal children working behind the counter and their skills are profoundly lacking. But anyway, the food is worth it and excellent.
