Made us the wrong pizza which I went ahead and accepted. But, the pizza I accepted did not have the ingredients listed. Need to do better!

Pizza is not good by any measure. Sandpaper bottom and crust that is like a cracker. Cheese is ok, sauce average. I know that MV pizza is not NY or Boston, but there has to be some standard and I'm puzzled as to how this place gets 4 stars. read more

Absolutely slow and indifferent service. Not a single smile or happy word. Better to order takeout, and show up when it is ready. If you come in and wait, you'll wait a long time: it took them 55 minutes to make a single sub. A single sub. PS, I wrote this review while I was waiting for my sandwich. At the same time, a young woman came in and asked for a slice of pizza. The counter people just ignored her. She was very polite and asked them why they wouldn't acknowledge her - and they simply refused to answer. PPS, I finally got my sub. It was actually REALLY GOOD. I want to start off by saying, they have super friendly staff. That goes a long way with me. I ordered a small Margherita pizza. It came up to $15 (including tax), this is pricy for me but I like to support small businesses. The pizza ingredients were as fresh as they come but the taste just wasn't there. It was bland, barely any basil, no olive oil and only large cut up pieces of tomato. I'm sure a sauce would have made the pizza a lot less dry. That's why I gave them a 4 star. I visited yesterday after coming to Martha's Vineyard for the second time and this girl at the front have the most amazing personality and her voice was soothing from the phone call to the pick up. This place may be the best pizza place on the island. They make their own bread for the subs, (which are amazing, so cheesy!) and their pizzas are fresh and delicious. I think this is probably the best pizza on the island. The service was excellent. I ordered 7 pies, and she threw in the 7th for free. The ladies who run it are very friendly and carried my pies to the car for me. We got the eggplant pizzas, the margherita, the steak and cheese, the sweet and spicy (a bit to hot and spicy for us), and the hamburger, and they were a big hit with our crowd, who hail from all over the east coast and are not easy to please. In all honesty, we researched all the places to get pizza, and none of them had great reviews on the island. Happened upon this place while grocery shopping next door and the pizza was great, the customer service was superb.

I visited Island Fresh again this Tuesday after a mediocre visit a few weeks ago. I had spoken to one of the owners (husband and wife) and had to try it again. Order taken swiftly and politely. Pizza was one of the finest, if not THE finest. One thing this island does not have is great pizza, until I tried theirs. SUPER fresh dough and perfectly cooked. We ordered two steak and cheese subs with mayo, raw onions, pickles and lettuce. They were on a lightly (perfectly toasted I may add!) toasted roll, and when opened up actually had eye appeal! NOT just. Thrown together. Now as I bit into them, the flavor exploded inside my mouth! Perfectly seasoned, and juicy, but NOT greasy. We savored every bite. Our meal was tendered to us by the other owner, Paulo, who took time to speak about how hard is was to operate a business on MV, especially with the lack of help. I am in the service/sales business and know what he is talking about. I give this business 5 stars, as they are a kind and great couple who WANT to EARN your business with a quality meal that is fairly priced. Great pizza! We went traditional with Paulo's Special (basic combination), a cheese, and one of their Brazillian pizzas, the Portuguesa.
