No, No Nope! This is not handmade dough. Look at the bottom of the crust..it is checkered/ scored just like frozen pizza dough! Furthermore, the vegetables were mostly raw, the dough under neath still partially raw. This was so disappointing! Never going back... First off, the pizza is really awful. On way too much cheese, the sauce is bitter and burnt and the crust is way too thick. Secondly, the service is really mixed. I went in recently and there were two guys in there behind the counter who didn't acknowledge that I existed for the first three or four minutes while I stood waiting. I walked out. Ahhh Pizza, when it's bad, as it is at most chains, it can be dreadful. When it's good, as it is at Vinnie's, it's a wonderful experience. Vinnie's Pizzeria is an old-school establishment complete with the framed photograph of John and Jacqueline Kennedy near the door. The pizza was absolutely delicious, cooked in a real pizza oven, crispy where it needed to be with pockets of tenderness. The cheese and toppings were perfect. The establishment itself is housed in one of those quirky diagonal buildings that you rarely see anymore. There is plenty of seating inside and the service was prompt and friendly. I wish more of these smaller and privately owned shops pushing out quality pizza were still around. read more

Reviews on Google and Yelp said this place was great, so hubby and I were excited to try it on the last night of our 3-day trip. We had ordered from the #2 recommended pizza place the night before and hadn't been impressed (plus they screwed up our order), so we were looking forward to this place. We ordered the same thing as the night before - a house special, with garlic instead of the standard hamburg. Vinnie's also has salami as a standard, so we asked if we could have bacon instead. So, that's a medium house special with garlic and bacon instead of hamburg and salami. The order taker cut me off to say that, because I was changing items, he'd have to charge me the $1.50 per new item in addition to the cost of the special. The place the night before hadn't charged for a substitute. The place we ended up ordering from this night didn't charge for a substitute. In fact, I've never heard of a pizzeria charging for a substitute unless it's a more expensive item (i.e. changing peppers to bacon). I questioned why, since we were switching 2 meats for 1 meat and GARLIC there would be an upcharge and he said, "Because then you're not ordering the special, you're making your own pizza." If that's really how he wants to nitpick...thanks but no thanks. Seriously, over $3, he lost our $30 order and left a bad taste in our mouths. read more

A Concord institution since the 50s. It's now run by the second generation. The founder moved to Concord from Jersey City, NJ. Vinnie's is authentic NY pizza. In the evenings, there's usually a sporting event on the television. the walls are covered with boxing memorabilia and the obligatory (in the 60s) portrait of Mr & Mrs John F Kennedy is over the front door. I'm sure the owner has portraits of the Pope and Frank not too far away. The slices are huge. More often than not, there will be a variety of slices from plain, to pepperoni, sausage & mushroom and peppers & onions. Several of us had slices and a whole plain pizza. The whole pizza had plenty of cheese and a stiff crust that stood up to the tomato sauce and cheese on it. Vinnie's sells all manner of soda and beer. They deliver and accept credit cards. It's the best pizza in New Hampshire by a country mile. read more

The workers were all mad to have to make pizzas. The attitude was so unprofessional. Me and a coworker walked in to the establishment and they had no sliced pizzas ready and the employees were upset because they got an order for 8 pizzas. How dare someone order 8 pizzas at a pizza shop. I was a very frequent customer but that ended today. I'm never one to leave bad reviews but I went out of my way today to leave this review. Food is good but the employees are very unprofessional. It's 11:30 and you would think that they would be ready for lunch but apparently they were not. So we went to Sals pizza and they were happy to see us and serve us! So with that being said, I would avoid this location. Just go somewhere else. read more

A great, neighborhood feel with delicious pizza. I had the thick crust "everything." It's substantial. I was in town for work and happened in. Well worth it. It's a total throwback, from the old neon sign outside to the sports legend photos (mostly boxers - the guy behind the counter said the original Vinnie was a boxer) inside. There's a TV to watch the game and friendly people behind the counter. And they had a couple photos of my hometown great, the late featherweight champ, Willie Pep. How great is that? read more

Very good pizza. This place was recently voted 6th best pizza in the state and the award is well earned. Pizza is very good and filling. The crust was golden and tasty; not too doughy. The sauce had an authentic taste to it and it was nice and thick. Greasy, to be sure, but if you're hoping for pizza to be a health food, you're looking in the wrong place. Price was good for the portion size. I got a large (16 inch) pepperoni pizza for $15. Parking is a bit of an issue given the location, but if you're just doing take-out, you should find some quick parking near by. read more

My family has favored Vinnie's my whole life. As a kid it was the best pizza I knew which wasn't much considering everything else I had tried was either greek pizza or cardboard pizza. But after living in Boston for eight years trying every spot I could, nothing compared. Any place friends had raved about were like the less accomplished little brother to Vinnie's, such disappointment. There were a few years that Vinnie's seemed kind of hit or miss. But not any more. Vinnie's pizza is hearty, flavorful, and hits the spot on the first bite. The crust is thick but soft. The sauce is robust but not overpowering. The toppings aren't scarce and they don't rush to get it in the oven. As soon as you open the box you know you're going to enjoy it. I would highly recommend the Vinnie's Special. Perhaps one of the worst pizzas we have ever eaten! We were passing through from Vermont to Mass so Vinny's was at our midway point and came right at 7pm. My wife navigated us off I89 and after a fee minutes of back roads through Concord we were pleasantly delighted to see the "old school" facade with original signage greeting us. There is no table service so we ordered at the cash register and took a seat...letting them know that we would be staying to dine there. The two teens working were nice enough however forgot about our order until I finally had to pop my head over the counter (35 minutes into waiting) and they shrugged it off with a "yours will be out soon". Ten minutes later we had our large cheese pie and decided to take it to go. So the pizza...if you ever ate a slice in 3rd grade it will take you right back to the pizza of your youth in the school cafeteria. A heavy sweet red oregano sauce that made for a soggy bottom coated in thick bland cheese with a pale crust reminiscent of pillsbury dough. it was inedible and all four of us (myself, wife and two teen children) had a bite and threw out the remaining slices at the next rest stop. We should have waited the extra hour to go to Boston's North End because in the end this experience was so horrific i felt obligated to write just to get over it. read more

We have stopped here twice coming home from the mountains. The first time I was not impressed with the pizza, but decided to give the place another chance. This time the pizza was great. Wonderful!! I love pizza and I loved this place! We wanted a whole in the wall pizza place that makes their own stuff and this was certainly it! We got a veggie pizza with sausage on half and onions on the other half and they did it for us. The sauce is amazing and they cook everything right there. Unexpectedly decent pizza. Probably the best I've had in New England, and definitely the best I've had in New Hampshire (except for when Sal's first started out and actually made good pizza). I can't say much about toppings, since I like plain pizza, other than if you order extra cheese, you will certainly get extra cheese. I almost feel as if I ripped them off. There was some garlic powder and dried Italian herbs sprinkled here and there. I enjoyed the overall effect. The biggest plus is that they seem to use real cheese! This pizza will still taste like pizza when cold, unlike those common pizza shop creations whose cheese turns into some unearthly substance after it cools off. My only gripe is that the crust could use a makeover. A world-class crust costs nothing more than flour, salt, yeast, and time, so I can't excuse a bad one. On the bright side, they did cook it until it was properly browned, which in itself is notable in these here parts. Bottom line: I'd love to get another pizza here. read more
