They are talented at what they do, easily troubleshoot unforeseen problems, precise, polite, timely and take pride in their work. My family and I actually missed them when the project was over. Before hiring Stephen, we met with 12 other contractors! Obviously, that's pretty excessive but there was always something about each contractor that just didn't "sit right" with us. Upon meeting Stephen, it was as if all of the pieces fell into place - price, extent of work to be done, time frame and a sense of honesty that we got from him. Stephen walked us through the entire process from demolition to picking out cabinets and countertops to construction and completion. Toward the end of the project, Stephen mentioned that the old door frame between my kitchen and den wouldn't look too nice when seen against a brand new kitchen. He suggested that he rip it out and replace it with a new door frame. Being that the door frame was not mentioned in the contract, my first question was, "How much more will that cost me?" He said, "Nothing. I'm not going to charge extra for that. I just want the job to look as good as possible." Who else does that nowadays? When my husband and I first started discussing expanding our house in 2020 we were not sure who to contact. I saw a number of houses in our neighborhood with. Murphy Construction sign so decided to give a call. Skip called me back within 24 hours and was over a few days later to speak about what we would like done. He was very honest in terms of the cost of the extension as well as the time frame on when he could start work (we expected a wait time since everyone is redoing their house right now!). He was true to his word on both which we were very thankful for. We we're also extremely thankful that Skip and team were understanding when we said we had a baby on the way to ensure everything was done prior to his arrival (which it was - HUGE THANK YOU!). In terms of work, Skip, Marvin and his team demolished our sunroom and previous bathroom and added on a new hallway, linen closets, bathroom, additional bedroom and family room. They also redid our floors upstairs, finished the attic, provided new windows in a previous bedroom, installed wall air conditioners in 4 rooms and created a covered patio area outside off of our new family room. Our smallish 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house has truly been transformed into something we couldn't imagine. We are beyond happy with the way everything turned out and could not be more thankful. The whole team was extremely courteous, kind and responsive. My husband and I both work from home so we literally were around to watch the house transform around us. The team showed up diligently on time, every single day and quickly and efficiently worked to get the job done with a few short months. We even made some changes as work was progressing and they were more than accommodating to ensure the job was done to our liking and to what we wanted. Laura, one of Skips office managers was also wonderful in ensuring any extras we added on our changes were relayed to Skip and team. Overall, the whole process was seamless and we fully recommend them to anyone who is looking to remodel. All of the sub-contractors (plumber, electrician, tile, floor, foundation, etc) they used were also truly wonderful so it was comforting to know that we had people we could trust at our house. We will definitely be using Murphy construction in the future when it comes time to redo our kitchen :) To say we're beyond happy is an understatement !!
