The endearing personalized wine glasses hung on the wall, each with the "nickname" of its patron took this place to a new level for me. We got to witness a local couple come in for a sip. The owner grabbed their wine glasses and was ready to pour their choice before they barely got through the door. The wine selection had something for any wine lovers passion. I am partial to a sweet wine and enjoyed quite a few of their offerings. We got a charcuterie board to munch on with our wine tasting and it was plentiful and filling. The owner is very personable and knows his stuff. Will be making this winery a regular stop when I come to Colorado to visit family.

Now, word to the wise, a friend of mine and I came here after a hike - the BEST time to stop into any winery :) - It was Sunday around 1pm and every table outside was completely booked and we had two dogs with us, so we had to sit outside. We were almost out of luck, but thankfully one reservation did not show, so after a short wait, they seated us right by the stage. All of the staff were friendly and helped us get settled in, even offering a dog water bowl and little dog yoga mats so they would be comfy on the gravel. We ordered a flight - 6 tastes for $15, highly recommend and we treated ourselves to a post-hike baked brie that was perfect. We found out that if you order three bottles of wine to take home your tasting is free, so naturally... :) I will call ahead and make a reservation next time so we can be seated right by the river. Really the offering for Mother's Day brunch is on point & some small logistical improvements would really make this a perfect outing. I'd been dying to come to try their wine so this was a great way to be exposed to the winery. We hadn't known that ordering a mimosa meant buying a whole bottle of champagne but after trying their "Indulgence" my mom & I agreed we would get that everytime. We hosted a 2 night seminar here with around 15 people each night and cannot say enough great things about The Wine Barrel! The owners are stellar to work with and as accommodating as any business could be to both us and our guests. The venue is smaller, but perfect for small groups or to come and have a glass of wine or a small event. Not accounting for the outside seating 20 or so people fill up the space, but it is perfectly intimate for parties of that size or smaller. They offer a variety of wines all made by the proprietors which everyone who attended our event agreed are fantastic. They also offer some light charcuterie if you would like as well. They offer memberships which are a great value too!

We also browsed in the cute gift shop that has a cute selection from around the world, mostly but not all related to wines and wine-making. For any RVers out there, The Winery participates in Harvest Hosts, through reservations only. There are two flat RV sites that are sufficiently far from traffic noise, and with walking paths to stretch your legs after driving all day.
