Such a beautiful unassuming winery! I would have probably driven right past if I hadn't seen a video online and come specifically to check them out. Now, word to the wise, a friend of mine and I came here after a hike - the BEST time to stop into any winery :) - It was Sunday around 1pm and every table outside was completely booked and we had two dogs with us, so we had to sit outside. We were almost out of luck, but thankfully one reservation did not show, so after a short wait, they seated us right by the stage. All of the staff were friendly and helped us get settled in, even offering a dog water bowl and little dog yoga mats so they would be comfy on the gravel. We ordered a flight - 6 tastes for $15, highly recommend and we treated ourselves to a post-hike baked brie that was perfect. We found out that if you order three bottles of wine to take home your tasting is free, so naturally... :) I will call ahead and make a reservation next time so we can be seated right by the river. My crew had a flight of red and whites which they claimed were excellent. I'm looking for a quick bite we selected the board which offered olives, cheeses, salumi, snacky meaty meats and tasty spread to bring it all together. Such a perfect interactive share dish to get everyone chatting. Entrees included mussels and hamburger which was done en croute giving it a spectacular presentation. I'm seeing a black truffle/brie versions for mushroom cheese burger. The mussels were in buerre tomate and looked great. I'm adverse to this mollusk so had to judge this reviews on the smiles beeming over slurp slurp sound. Dessert was great. The flourless cake was dense and chocolaty with vanilla quenelle. What an amazing restaurant in a small mountain town! I took my husband for his birthday and we requested a table next to the creek. Was such a lovely experience with live music on a Sunday afternoon. The food was amazing! And so were the wine flights. However, they only have one restroom for clients? And also don't have very friendly toddler food. Saw this place in Instagram and looked cool but let's just say looks and angles can be deceiving. It appears to be on the water like this vineyard with great views but it's in reality a warehouse type place on side of the road with minimal parking at an odd angle. If you don't get the cabanas right on the creek there is not really any view of creek or any just walking area to take pics by creek. The patio is odd kind of set up with a big stage in the middle so if band is playing you are VERY Close To music. We sat in the coveted patio attached to the indoor restaurant and it was ok. The indoor is super dark so this was best thing besides outdoor. If wind is kicking that rock lot is dusting all the outside patio people. We got the charcuterie for $54 which was just ok. Not sure I just have had better. We got the bread basket with it otherwise you just get meat and cheese no crackers with charcuterie. I got the porchetta sandwich which was good. Lastly we got the key lime pie for dessert. It was ok experience not something I would drive us 2 hrs for again though. read more

Making reservations is very important in Denver! Aspen Peak was pretty backed for a Thursday morning. Hubby & I took his best friend and his wife there to celebrate his birthday. I give this place 3 stars solely on the ambiance. I made reservations online for my boyfriend's birthday. I wanted a seat by the water and was not aware those particular seats are called "cabanas". Apparently there is another whole section for reserving those seats so super bummed that wasn't more clear on their website. We arrived for our reservation and the host sat us and we waited for a while before our waitress came over. Got our wine flight quick but food took a little bit as well. We ended up sitting again for a while waiting for our bill, finally had to ask the host for our waitress. Food was ok but not worth the price. The parking lot is a hot mess as well. We got a table inside immediately on a Sunday afternoon though and were still able to listen to the live music played outside. This is a really cute and fun place to stop by! The wine tasting paddle is really fun to do, and there are a wide variety of wines to choose from, ranging from more traditional wines to a coffee wine. Their patio is dog friendly and had plenty of tables with pups. I stopped here after hiking with friends and our dogs, so we all appreciated that there was a fun activity we could do with our pets. They also have a number of food items on the menu, so you have plenty of options here! Service was very friendly but a little slow at times. The only really downsides were that the tables were a little small so it was difficult to maneuver how to hold all of our wine paddles and food. The parking lot also isn't great. It's not very big and there are no painted parking lines, so there was a lot of creative parking happening. That said, it's a fun experience and definitely worth a visit! read more

Head west from Denver, about an hour ish drive into the mountains & you'll find this charming winery & bistro off the main road. It's tucked in along the North Fork of the South Platte River in Bailey, CO - AKA Bailey Beach. I highly recommend making reservations (we did) cuz this place is very popular with both locals & tourists alike. We got a parking spot in their parking lot, just know that the lot isn't very big & parking could be a challenge. They are only open Thursdays-Sundays from 12-8pm. (Their winter hours may be different.) We arrived at 1pm on a Saturday & had requested a table by the water. The scenery was beautiful, great live music, along with the roaring river...the water was moving fast. It was a somewhat warm day so we were glad our table had an overhead cover. There were tables inside & out. I especially liked the tables for two that faced the river with grass umbrellas. Note: Aspen Peak is dog friendly & the live music is on Saturdays & Sundays from 2-5pm. The food & wine were delicious! The Ahi Tuna was one of the best tasting dishes around, as well as the French Dip Special - very juicy & tender. Our gluten free friend was happy with her Veggie Flatbread Pizza & the green salad with walnuts & apple had a to-die-for homemade vinaigrette dressing. The Corn Chowder however needed more seasoning & the Vintner's Beef Burger En Croute was very rich & had too much Dijon mustard for my liking. We really enjoyed the wine tasting paddle, $15. You pick out six samples of wine & if you purchase three bottles To-Go your tasting is free. This is exactly what we did. We loved the Pinot Gris. Our afternoon at Aspen Peak was memorable & we plan on going again & again. Check out their website, they host many events thru out the year. My girlfriend surprised me with a little date here on a Saturday about a month ago. We had reserved seats (highly recommend reserving about 1-2wks in advance and to request riverfront seating - no additional charge) on the river under a cabana. It was the most enchanting dinning riverfront experience I've ever had. The food, the wine, and the service were phenomenal. There was a wonderful live band playing music not too far from us, not in our view, though we had the best view of the river! Hayley was an amazing server! She was very knowledgeable, diligent, and friendly. She definitely elevated the entire experience. I have already recommended this place to my friends for their future date nights or even for outings with friends. This place was worth the hour+ drive from Denver. Came here on an impromptu stop with my partner. In terms of service, it took ~35 minutes to get bread and cheese which didn't require much cooking-- so don't be surprised if you have a longer wait for food after getting your wine. My partner received a very light pour when compared to other glasses of same size (no bottle on table of these patrons also) so there was a bit of inconsistency there. Maybe we are just used to heavy pours generally so noting this but this didn't really affect the stars here. Something to note is the minimum recommended tip on their interface was %25- the waitress was staring right at him and made a face when a button wasn't selected-- which was a tad uncomfortable. Overall the service ~vibe~ was definitely consistent with the recent comments regarding the friendliness of service. Additionally, the waitress gave no introductions to the wines and I had to ask about them-- which was a first for me winery wise. Pricing was standard when compared to very nice and established Virginia wineries in and around Charlottesville (went to school there and in Tuscany so know my way around the block winery wise). The wines outside the Colorado blends were good but nothing to write home about. The food and ambiance was the star here, with the cheese board perfectly curated for a white and red wine flight. Overall-- being one of the few picturesque wineries near Denver, I would say this is still a stop for the flight and charcuterie pairing on a summer day. I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the food. I am usually not as bothered by service things having been a waitress myself, but if you really really are bothered by service alone, then you may find yourself disappointed here. read more

The highlight of our meal was the baked brie - would highly recommend that. The key lime pie wasn't the best that i've had but was decent. There is live music on weekend from 2-4 so be sure to get there early or make a reservation. The hostess said that people often come at 2 and stay until 5. What an incredible lunch! We were seated next to the creek, right behind the tables for 2 that face the water on a colorful "beach" of ground wine bottles! I couldn't stop looking around and appreciating the ambiance provided by nature! We were on a highway but facing the trees, the creek and the surrounding mountains was just breathtaking. The owners had quite a vision in creating this winery! The drive from Denver was worth it. This place is priceless! The service from the owners and everyone else was amazing and they made us feel so welcome. The wine list is long and the wine .....oh so special! I would have given 0 stars for this place if I could but the lowest was 1, as it has the absolute worst management approach ever. I had reserved a table for a group of 8 celebrating one of our friends birthday. An hour and 10 min after we were seated, the waitress told us that we had 20 min to leave as our table had been booked to another group which hadn't even arrived yet!!!! We were right in the middle of our meal and hadn't even finished our first glasses of wine when we were told that the reservation was for only 90 min, a nice oh by the way!!! It took us 30 min to put in our order, and anther 30 min to get our food & drinks. This left us only 20 min to eat & drink before we were told that we needed to leave so that the table could be given to the next group. We were not allowed to finish our food or drinks before we were forced to change tables or leave. I told THE MANAGER that I had not been made aware of the 90 min rule in the confirmation email and she said that it was stated on the initial reservation website. I was told they could not have the next group be seated elsewhere, that they would have to move us inside or we would have to leave. There were three empty tables of four outside that could have been allocated to the party of 8 that was going to be seated at our table. Even though they had NOT arrived yet, the manager wanted us to vacate the table...We were basically being kicked out, so we paid and left. We have recommendations for the management if they don't want to lose customers like us who have traveled all the way from Denver to celebrate their friends birthday at a nice environment: 1. If you have a STRICT 90 min policy make sure it is stated in the confirmation email so that groups as big as ours (8 people) could book two spots back to back so as not to be kicked out as we were! Just don't assume that customers read the initial reservation page, make sure the STRICT 90 min rule is in each and every confirmation email so your cutomers special day, i.e. the birthday celebration in our case, is NOT ruined. 2. Be flexible with large groups instead of 90 min, AT LEAST give them 150 min to finish up all they ordered. 3. If there are 3 empty tables for 4, use 2 of them instead of kicking a group of 8 out. 4. If a group brings a cake, at least give them new clean plates instead of sheets of aluminum to put on their used plates so that the cake and the previous food don't mix. The waitress said she couldn't give us clean plates as their dishwasher was paid a by plate cleaning rate, WHICH IS UN HEARD OF!! 5. Also you might want to state on your website that customers bringing their own b-day cake need to bring extra plates and utensils, too, so they won't have to use aluminum foil, which was provided. read more

One of the best places in town for a tasty meal, great atmosphere, and great service. Nice selection of wines to choose from- the Nebbiolo is really good! We tried the fondu appetizer with the pita bread, bread chunks, and crackers. The Schnitzel with panko crusted chicken was absolutely delicious. Ate here while visit the area! We had the cheese board, the Shiraz, which was pretty good, chicken breast with potatoes and carrots. I was impressed because the chicken was super moist and the carrots were excellent! I had the key lime pie for dessert but my husband ordered the mousse. I enjoyed mine but I wouldn't order the mousse, it tasted more like grainy dark chocolate pudding. Our waitress was awesome and very cheerful. She knew the me he very well and I appreciated her knowledge of the food. The atmosphere was pleasant but during warmer months I would definitely go for outdoor seating!
