Sometimes the best discoveries happen by chance -- and Vino Godfather is proof of that. We stopped in after seeing family and friends post about it on social media, and it instantly became a highlight of our day. Nestled in what appears to be a beautifully restored old military officers' home, the space is full of charm, history, and warmth. It's got that timeless character you just don't get from a modern tasting room. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome -- attentive without hovering, and genuinely passionate about the wine they serve. The tasting setup was inviting, with curated displays, snack pairings, and a rotating calendar of events that adds to the appeal. The wine? Smooth, varied, and generously poured. The vibe? Think good music, easygoing conversation, and the kind of ambiance that makes you want to linger. It's the perfect mix of history, hospitality, and hidden-gem energy. Whether you're a local or just passing through, don't miss this one. It's not just a tasting -- it's a whole experience.

Same great service and good wine as always. Tommy is very hospitable and friendly. The location has a lot of history behind it and was interesting to learn about.

Just WOW - I really have no other word to describe what an incredible visit we had to Vino Godfather Winery on Mare Island in Vallejo. It should be noted that this place is historic, Mare Island was the first US Naval Base on the West Coast, established in 1854. My parents were stationed here in 1969 and I was born in a nearby hospital. For my 55th birthday I went back to visit and while looking around at the Colonial Style homes (base housing) from the 1900's, we happened upon Vino Godfather's Tasing Room. The tasting room is in one of the original officers mansions that has been so well taken care of, it's absolutely stunning. Vino Godfather has taken over the home and set up a gorgeous tasting room while also preserving the delicate interior and integrity of the original structure. Even if you aren't going for the wine, you must go for the history! Since we were there we decided to do a tasting and we were treated to such a special visit by Bennie "Joey." This man is a powerhouse and he managed to make us feel important by sharing his knowledge of the home and the wines so willingly, while also tending to all of the other guests in the home. We tasted all of the wines and ended up leaving with a bottle of 2021 Rose Demi Sparkling Wine and a bottle of 2018 Prohibition Tempranillo. We wanted to buy so much more but since we were visiting from out of state we decided to just stick with what we could drink before we left. If you're even thinking about making a visit to this place, do it! It was such an unplanned and unexpected surprise for us, and I'm so thankful that we just happened upon it! And while you're there make sure you check out the chapel at the end of the road. St Peter's Chapel is the oldest naval chapel in the United States and is known for its incredible collection of Tiffany stained glass windows.

I honestly love coming to Vino Godfather. I've only been here for events, but it's still an incredible experience. The service is fantastic, the vibe is just awesome, and the wines are delicious. Even though I'm a reds gal, their Moscato is pretty flavorful. I think their Prohibition Tempranillo is my favorite. Their outdoor space is a nice size and a very enjoyable to be in, especially for their concerts. Their tasting room is just gorgeous, tasteful decor. I like coming here and can't wait for my next visit.

The wine here is spantacular. I especially love Moscato gold wine. The service was amazing. Thomas was the best. He was very atentative and nice. He really does care about his customers. He knows all of the regulars and makes it his business to get to know the new people. The ambiance was nice. It's an old military house on an old military base. If you ever get a chance to visit Vino Godfather Winery in Vallejo should go.

I watched him be incredibly rude to multiple customers; yelling at them to get in line, brushing off their questions. My husband and I inquired about a walk-in barrel tasting, and he said he would see about getting us in ONLY if we signed up for the whiskey club under his name. We opted to order drinks from the bar instead. Later he came up to our table and asked loudly "DID YOU FILL OUT MY FORM?", when we said no he replied "I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO GET INTO THE TASTING." It was beyond absurd. I have supported Redwood Empire for years through my local stores. I reached out to the brand via their website about this experience and never received a response. Thankfully there's no shortage of distillers in northern California with quality products and better customer service.

Redwood Empire Whiskey Bar absolutely delivers--this place is the perfect mix of great whiskey,…read moresolid food, and a really cool, laid-back atmosphere. From the start, the vibe stands out. The space is really spacious with that clean, industrial feel, and it's incredibly comfortable to hang out in. Between the big windows and views into the distillery, it feels elevated without trying too hard. I also did the tour, and it was fantastic. Getting to see the distilling process up close added a whole new layer to the experience and made everything you taste feel more intentional. The whiskey selection is seriously impressive. I went with a tasting flight, which was a great way to explore their lineup--from smooth, approachable pours to more complex, higher-proof options. You can tell a lot of thought goes into both the whiskey and how it's presented. The cocktails were also a highlight. Super well-balanced and not overdone. The Old Fashioned-style drink I had was spot on--clean, strong, and exactly what you want at a whiskey bar. Food-wise, everything hit. The oysters were fresh and paired perfectly with the drinks, and the hot dog + tots combo was simple but done really well--definitely exceeded expectations. Overall, this is one of those places that works for any kind of visit--whether you're diving into a full tasting or just stopping in for a drink. Great space, great whiskey, and an experience I'd absolutely come back for.

I love how the East Bay/Bay holds so many large and somewhat isolated islands/communities (Mare Island, Treasure Island, Alameda Island..). Each region holds so much history and also, really cool businesses like Mare Island Brewing Co. There was a super cool weekend community event here recently organized by the local Vallejo fire department with art/food/music and more, and it was such a cool vibe. There's so much space out there for the kiddos to ride their bikes/scooters safely, and so many cool activities like learning all about the maritime culture out there, singing shantey songs aboard the C.A. Thayer, fresh brews and yummy food, and if going on a specific weekend, maybe a cool event to pop into. We were surprised by how many people were out there at the brewery ~ it was such a beautiful day with great weather and great service/atmosphere. Seems like the Mare Island Brewing staff have nailed doing events here, and all the components for a fun time out, since it's a drive for anyone coming from different directions. All in all, such a great time out. Would love to come back and try a beer flight (beer is made on-site and is so fresh and crisp), house-made cocktail, or even the burger which looked delish. I ordered a 64oz growler of their stout -- beer itself wasn't terrible, just a little on the light/watery side, but drinkable. Here's where it went sideways... AFTER I already paid and had it in hand, I'm told I'm not even allowed to drink the growler there. No heads up. No warning. Nothing. If that had been made clear upfront, I never would've ordered it in the first place. Pretty frustrating to find out after the fact. The view is honestly great -- probably the best part of the whole experience -- but it didn't make up for the lack of communication. Ended up walking down the pier and just drinking it out of the jug because at that point, what else was I supposed to do?
