I don't want to give them a bad review it seems like a nice venue. However, I paid for tickets for the Mother's Day event and it was very nice! But, I said I wanted Sauvignon Blanc and they had it as a selection. I got there and had paid for a reservation and a bottle of wine, they didn't have a Blanc! They had a Chardonnay. We had a good time though and they needed more food selections. I would do it again next year but I would bring my own food and chairs reserving a table was not worth the price. read more

We ended up purchasing a few bottles and becoming members. The ambiance of the winery was also lovely, with beautiful views of the vineyards and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. Just WOW - I really have no other word to describe what an incredible visit we had to Vino Godfather Winery on Mare Island in Vallejo. It should be noted that this place is historic, Mare Island was the first US Naval Base on the West Coast, established in 1854. My parents were stationed here in 1969 and I was born in a nearby hospital. For my 55th birthday I went back to visit and while looking around at the Colonial Style homes (base housing) from the 1900's, we happened upon Vino Godfather's Tasing Room. The tasting room is in one of the original officers mansions that has been so well taken care of, it's absolutely stunning. Vino Godfather has taken over the home and set up a gorgeous tasting room while also preserving the delicate interior and integrity of the original structure. Even if you aren't going for the wine, you must go for the history! Since we were there we decided to do a tasting and we were treated to such a special visit by Bennie "Joey." This man is a powerhouse and he managed to make us feel important by sharing his knowledge of the home and the wines so willingly, while also tending to all of the other guests in the home. We tasted all of the wines and ended up leaving with a bottle of 2021 Rose Demi Sparkling Wine and a bottle of 2018 Prohibition Tempranillo. We wanted to buy so much more but since we were visiting from out of state we decided to just stick with what we could drink before we left. If you're even thinking about making a visit to this place, do it! It was such an unplanned and unexpected surprise for us, and I'm so thankful that we just happened upon it! And while you're there make sure you check out the chapel at the end of the road. St Peter's Chapel is the oldest naval chapel in the United States and is known for its incredible collection of Tiffany stained glass windows. read more

This place is a gem. The energy is great. Live music was fully enjoyed. The wine exceeded my expectations. We didn't pay for the under the trees seating and on that 95 degree day it would have been worth it. The regular tables had canopies but the heat shined through. We were able to move our chairs into the grassy area and into some shade so that helped. The inside has a lot of vintage charm. The bar inside was a whole nother pleasant vibe as well. We ordered two bottles to our table. One white and one Tempranillo red. The white I believe was a Pinot, it was crisp and refreshing. The red which is more my speed was very full flavored and is a bottle I'd buy again for a nice steak dinner. The bottles came with an ice pail and 4 glasses and were very reasonably priced. They had packaged snacks you could buy to accompany the wine. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. I definitely recommend Vino Godfather. read more

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with an incident that occurred during the Festa Italiana event last night. I have visited Vino Winery a few times in the past and always had a positive experience, which makes what happened even more upsetting. My husband and I attended the event as guests of our neighbors, who are wine club members. While enjoying the evening, I was speaking with another guest--a wine club member--who had two containers of cheese. She commented on how delicious it was and mentioned there was one more in the refrigerator. The refrigerator was in an open area, so I assumed it was intended for event guests. As I retrieved the last container and walked toward my table, the owner, Tina, abruptly approached me, snatched the container from my hand, and stated that people have been stealing from them and that I would need to pay for the cheese. I was stunned and humiliated. At no point was I attempting to leave the facility--I was simply returning to my table. What was most troubling is that the other guest, who initially had two containers of cheese and shared this information with me, was never questioned or approached in the same manner. Tina directed her accusations only toward me. This differential treatment, coupled with the accusatory tone, made me feel racially profiled and targeted in a very public and embarrassing way. Shortly after this exchange, Tina's son approached my husband and asked us to leave. The entire situation left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected at an event we were invited to attend. This experience was shocking, especially given the reputation Vino Winery has for hospitality. Fabulous atmosphere, great people, love their concerts and everything is delightful! You can reserve tables. You can bring your own food and drink with the exception of alcohol. Bags are checked at the door for alcohol. They have enough bathrooms and at times a food truck also. They have a dance floor, and believe me, people do dance. Everyone seemed to want to hang out with our group, which was so fun. Everyone was sharing stories, explaining photos on the wall, and finally we ended up with Frank. Frank was a blast! We had such a good time getting to know him, the business, and how they do things around Mare Island. He even took us out back to show us the community event that was going on and invited us to come have another glass with him and his dad. One of the best spots in Vallejo and Mare Island to go wine tasting that people may not know of. They have been there for a number of years and I heard their wine selection has gotten better over the years. The vibes of this spot and the workers are so family oriented and welcoming and just being here feels like you're at a nice home party! Located on an old military mansion and it's a huge and cute property. They have a whole backyard area that can be used for events too! They're sparkling chilled on a warm day are so refreshing! From what we tasted, I really enjoyed the Pinot and the Malbec!! I even got to try one of their newer wines that were a red blend. Special shoutout to Joe and his hospitality and taking care of us and all of our tastings. You can hang out front or inside and walk the property. They have local charcuterie snacks for sale while you're tasting too. There's plenty of parking around the property. I've been to a lot of wineries in the 29 years of my life, and I've got to say, Vino Godfather has made it to the top of my favorites list. It's located in Vallejo, just outside of Napa, on this old Navy base. There was plenty of parking outside, even on a Saturday. The tasting room is located inside a beautiful home that was built in 1901. On arrival, we were warmly greeted and welcomed to explore the estate. It was really fun exploring and walking around through the rooms. I found Vino Godfather through a Groupon deal for wine tasting. We got way more than just a typical wine tasting. The ambiance, the quality of wine, the pours, the staff (Frank, Joey, and Toni), the entire experience was exceedingly superb. I couldn't have asked for a better 30th birthday wine tasting. We loved every wine we tasted-especially the Prohibition Red, zinfandel and petit sirahs. I'm usually not a huge fan of zinfandels or sirahs, but these were so delicious. In addition to the wines, we also tasted their single sourced olive oil. OHMYGAWD...if you leave without tasting the olive oil...big mistake. Make sure you get a bottle of that...or several bottles of it. Most of all, the staff and customer service are unmatched. Frank (the owner), Frank, and Joey went above and beyond to make this whole experience so memorable. What makes this winery unlike any other that I've been to is how they treat you like family. They are so personable and welcoming. They don't push you through the wine tasting like the commercialized wineries up in Napa. I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my Saturday afternoon!
