Best wine bar/ shop/ service in Portland! This is gem of a spot and the owner is so knowledgeable and friendly. The flights of wine are a delight, the environment is cozy and relaxed with plenty of space to spread out. It's a neighborhood spot and a destination for great wine (also a wonderful place to get a quick drink if you're waiting for a table nearby). The fact that it's not inspired by instagram trends is a major plus, it'll put you in a wonderful trance where you connect and make eye contact and completely forget about your phone. Plus the lighting is nice. It's already been the location of some of my best conversations in 2024-and best glasses of wine. Winning without even seeming to try! GEM. read more

This pains me to write as this used to be my favorite wine bar in Portland. I came in last night for the first time since the ownership has changed, and while the flights were still good, I believe the pours may be a bit smaller. Two of the bigger disappointments, however, were the service and the charcuterie board. I loved the old combo charcuterie board; it was $25 and full of yummies including a variety of salamis. Now a combo charcuterie board is $36 and does not have as good of stuff on it. The service was extremely slow and once they got busy we waited awhile for a second pour. Have been here many ,many times ... mostly for the jazz! Recently went in and ordered a glass of Chardonnay . Big beautiful glass arrived with a little taste in it! The new owners are now serving 3oz pours for a mere $14!!! Although the wine was good... c'mon people! No house wine options??? just 3oz or 5 oz ($25) pours!!!More food choices... got the charcuterie platter... cheese was great, meat was poor! But wouldn't order it again. I didn't think I could love Vino Veritas more, but here we are! Vino Veritas is my neighborhood wine shop. I've been dropping in for bottle purchases since early spring 2020 (when the pandemic struck). The guys who work here - all somms - are extremely friendly and helpful. If you like to talk wine, they'll chat you up and point you in the right direction. I stopped by for "dine-in" service for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised to see a newly constructed patio out front! Very reasonably priced glass pours and the pick-three tasting flight for $16 is such a deal. The pours are very generous too. The combo board (cheese/charcuterie) is huge and has a really nice assortment. I'm told that they're weathering the patio and installing lights and heaters. I'm planning to come back more often this winter to enjoy the patio and give them all my money! read more

I came here today for happy hour with coworkers and fell in love with the cozy atmosphere, great HH deals with $6 red, white, or Rosé wines and well curated charcuterie and cheese boards. It's still a hidden gem and for most of the night, we were the only patrons which we didn't mind. Trevor, our host, was very obliging, especially when one of my co-workers accidentally spilled her almost full glass and replaced it free if charge. They have bottles for very reasonable prices (I bought a portuguese red for $11). There's also seating for small and medium sized groups. Stopped by for one glass of wine and absolutely loved the cute wine bar. The big windows can be fully opened so it changes into a nice continuous space with the street seatings. We missed the live music as it was getting started. Would love to come back and sit for much longer. read more

We stopped to check out this great little place during the Montavilla Street Fair last Sunday. It was extremely busy but they handled the masses very gracefully :-). The special was their house Sangria accompanied by a special street fair menu. The Sangria was awesome...great flavor with crunchy peaches (nice touch & tasty)! We weren't hungry but we talked to people beside us & they said the food was excellent. We will return for the full experience! Welcome to the neighborhood!!! An awesome wine bar is a great addition. Birthday party win: ambiance, attention and flavor! Last month I booked a table for myself and 6 girlfriends to try a list of "earthy" reds. I gave Dana my budget, some party background and time frame; she was enthusiastic, prompt to respond and chose a delicious variety of bottles from around the world. We were greeted with a reserved, VIP fitting table and our Som was equally knowledgeable as he was charming. My guests were delighted by the range of price points and we all left with at least a bottle. Of the 4 birthday stops that night- this one was the winner. My new favorite wine bar in Portland. They are knowledgeable without being conceited. Their prices are fair and their selection is unique. The kind red-headed fellow behind the bar listened to our preferences and made wonderful recommendations based on our answers. The only complaint I have is that I left without more wine than I did. As soon as I got home I wished for more of that affordable sauvignon blanc with the brightly-colored, geometric label. Because their prices are so fair, it's easy to walk out with one or more bottles after a tasting. I will be back. Thank you for a wonderful happy hour experience. read more

Awesome place to enjoy a glass of wine. The staff was super knowledgeable and accommodating. I tried the white bean hummus and enjoyed a few glasses of local Rośe which was perfect on a nice sunny afternoon. Along with the hummus and wine I loved the great music and vibes. I'm new to the area however felt welcome and at home. Most definitely will come back soon... like tomorrow. Turns out they are also new to they area but they seem like a perfect fit with the brewery, bars and restaurants within the same few blocks. read more

Great new gem in the Montavilla strip between 81st and 78th and SE Stark. I've passed by multiple times with the live jazz flowing out into the street. A multitude of wines set apart by region. I had the best night here with some live music, great charcuterie, and wine. Worth the visit. read more

Great new addition to Montavilla! The wine steward was so accommodating and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain all of the wines we were trying (my group tried both the rose and red flights as well as some other full pours). We also enjoyed the cheese board and spread trio, both fantastic. We had no problems asking for a little more bread (at no extra charge), which was a great touch. Lots of space and various types of seating depending on how many people you're with. Well-priced happy hour from 4-6 pm and all day on Sundays. I'll definitely be back with friends! read more

I really enjoyed my little trip to Vino Veritas. It was a beautiful sunny day and at first I was a little bummed not to be somewhere with a patio, but I quickly forgave the establishment due to the excellent wine, delectable snacks, and laid-back, soothing atmosphere. No patio, but many tables and lots of space, so my group never felt crowded or overwhelmed by noise - in fact I'd say it was an ideal place for a ladies' night out (we even brought a baby, and got no dirty looks from anyone at all!). I'll also say that I usually equate "wine bar" with "pending budget destruction" but they offered flights and bottles at a very reasonable price, which was a welcome surprise. I'm from Bend and stopped by while I was in Portland. This is a great addition to the charming Montavilla neighborhood. The wine selection is original, and the charcuterie and cheese board is generous. There are Happy Hour prices, but the wine and food are affordable enough to enjoy anytime, and both are excellent. The owners and servers are approachable and knowledgeable. It's a great place. I just wish it were in Bend (home of the brew pubs). read more
