When I returned to pick up my pieces, I got more bread, and also some seasonal produce. The meat always looks really good, but the timing hasn't lined up for me to try it. Layout: The farm is huge, but once you orient, it will be easy to navigate. Aside from the farm field, you'll find a little creek, hand-woven willow dome, flower field, greenhouse, event area with hay ride stage, a farm stand and Oxbow market. Gravel parking is available, overflow parking is on the grass along the farm. Animals: The farm residents are Icelandic Sheep, turkeys, and very good boy Milo (Great Pyrenees). Meet all! Oxbow Market: The farm has market stand and Oxbow Market. The market stand has seasonal veggies and flowers. Check social media for availability. It works on an honor system, cash or Venmo are accepted. The Oxbow Market is an absolute farm gem. It has fresh produce (like tomatoes grown on the farm), many locally loved brands (such as yummy mushrooms), locally baked sourdough and focaccia, clay handmade mugs, soaps, and a lot more. You'll find produce, flowers, bread, meat, dairy, souvenirs, personal care, sweets, and more at this store. The store is open during events, and Wednesday through Sunday from 12-7 PM (check their website for the latest hours as the seasons change). I love to get seasonal veggies, scones, and bread here. I never successfully walked away empty handed, everything looks so tasty! During the last visit I purchased a scone, focaccia, and peaches ($17.41 grand total, 3% credit card sub charge). Flower Picking: The farm seasonally grows and sells flowers. You can get a premade bouquet $20 or $15 for you-pick. You-pick experience looks so dreamy. I especially love their gorgeous marigolds. Events: The farm offers different events during the summer. They're always so relaxing and also a little rustic. Events include concerts, crafting activities, yoga and sound baths at the willow dome. The music is always so eclectic and really good. The crafting events so interesting like eco dyeing, pottery, paper making, and more. Some events feature food vendors. Most concerts have a suggested donation and benefit the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. You may want to bring a chair or a blanket if attending a concert (some picnic tables are available). Event tickets can be pre-purchased on their site. My personal favorites: I love to spend a whole evening on the farm. I always look forward to petting Icelandic sheep, getting some goodies from the Oxbow Market, listening to the music or crafting, wandering around the farm, and lingering by the fire pit. Everyone at the farm including the owners and the volunteers are so welcoming! It's fun to see families and kids on the farm just enjoying togetherness and nature. You have to visit and feel the amazing atmosphere of this farm. It's a nice getaway from the city and real life. I highly recommend checking out their events and stopping in to shop at the market. It had less variety and square footage than the free city greenhouse, Rockefeller Gardens (stellar place!). My 8 yr old's admission was a joke because she declared it was very hot and stepped outside to the front desk and gift shop within a minute of stepping inside. Honestly, children under 10 should be free with the amount of interest holding them there. There was only 1 other separate room with some bonsais and a caged chameleon that was displayed in a way that was hard to see. In mid April, many flowers/fruits still weren't in bloom or already bloomed or I don't know. The conservatory itself only gets 3 stars in my opinion but the best part is actually the outer grounds and trails. The trails were great and we got to see all sorts of birds (blue jays, mallards, Canadian geese, woodpeckers, finches, etc.), squirrels, chipmunks, deer. The small garden area surrounding the butterfly cage was cute. We also saw the world's cutest dog there that I mistook for a rabbit--a baby French bulldog.

And I wanted to embrace the fall colors. But, I wanted a path that wouldn't be muddy. I made an impromptu decision to take my son and boyfriend to Miller Nature Preserve because I knew it would be dry inside the conservatory and from what I remembered, there were some paths along the building outside. We started inside, which is amazing on its own. We paid $2 per person to go inside and experience the warm humid climate and jungle like setting. Tropical plants are everywhere, along with some cactus and bonsai trees. It's a great place to go anytime of year, but I would imagine winter months would be very enjoyable here to warm up and see some greenery. Then we walked around outside in their garden areas, which is really pretty too. Not too much to look at this time of year as everything is transitioning to winter. We were surprised to find a gravel path that went into the woods outside of the parking lot. We didn't pay attention to the map posted at the beginning of the trail, as we assumed it would be a short path. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised and very wrong! We walked through the woods for about an hour. We didn't see anyone else on the path so it was quite magical. The trees were just starting to change and the sun would peak out from the clouds occasionally. At some point the path seemed to feel like we were on someone's private property, and we were very confused, but the garden area we came across was beautiful. All sorts of cool stones, a little pond, and millstones galore. Then we somehow ended up on the trail again, which ran next to a creek. There were benches scattered about the trail as well. I never knew these trails were back there! It was an enjoyable adventure and I hope to come back soon!

This is an adorable small animal farm. Pure passions has Nigerian dwarf goats, geese, ducks,…read morealpacas, and a barn cat. We arrived with three children. There's plenty of parking for about 20 cars. There are two barns and clean restrooms. The price is reasonable at $10 per car load. The owners are very nice. They didn't just take our money and give us a map; they showed us around and then let us go off on our own. Feed is available in small buckets for $3. All the alpacas and the goats loved it. There is a small playground, basketballs and basketball hoops, and a fairy garden too. We stayed a little over an hour but would have stayed longer if it hadn't started raining. We'll be going back to visit Santa Claus next month and in the spring for goat yoga!

This past weekend my boyfriend and I made the trip to the Brecksville Nature Center to feed…read morechickadees. It was honestly one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I grew up on a large piece of land and always loved watching the small creatures who lived near my house. I feed the animals who live in my backyard now, and I love watching various forms of wildlife frolic in my trees. I've always jokingly said that it would be cool to be able to feed birds from my hand (Cinderella style) but I never knew that would be actually possible. It's a pretty simple process. You go into the nature center, they give you sunflower seeds, and then you patiently and quietly wait with your hand outstretched and full of seeds. I was skeptical at first, but...the chickadees and other birds were quick to scope me out. They'd fly close enough to look at me, briefly make eye contact, and then swoop in for some food. They are so light! And beautiful! And amazingly brave, I think. I know I had a hand full of food, but...I'm a heck of a lot bigger than a chickadee. I had about a dozen birds land on me while I was outside. (and I wasn't out there very long - it was coooollllldd) The highlight was having a bird land on my head! This is a super fun (and free) wintertime thing to do. Chickadee feeding is held from late December through February (weather permitting). It's such a cool experience and totally worth the drive, no matter where you live. (and it's especially fun for the little ones! they can warm up inside by the fire afterwards)

You can hear her continually say "oh how beautiful". Just being a witness to how alive she becomes here makes me very happy. They work very hard weeding the grounds and it's hard work. In this trip we met one of the seasonal workers. She collected our entry fee of $5 each and asked us if we have visited in the past. Very nice young person. They are looking for volunteers and it would be s nice place for someone to de-stress and get their hands a little dirty. Also, gardening does burn calories. Every season you will see new plants and flowers coming up. It's not your perfectly polished garden, but it's your rough work in progress labor of love. You will always see the groundskeepers, seasonal workers and volunteers working hard there.

The park is well-maintained and the variety of plants and flowers is truly stunning. I enjoyed walking through the different gardens, each with its own unique character and charm. They just opened on April 1st for the season so not everything was in bloom (obviously) but my minds eye could imagine if. What impressed me the most was the attention to detail and the dedication of the staff to ensure that everything was in pristine condition. I could tell that they take great pride in their work and it definitely shows. Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Strongsville Gardenview Horticultural Park. It's a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city and a true gem for nature lovers. Five stars all around!

If you would like to see nature outside the exhibit, there's plenty of that as well. It has a good amount of hiking trails that go around the park. The other cool thing is that there's a train so you can avoid walking. It's not needed since the park is fun to walk around. The train goes around the park so you can see the exhibits. One other big event is at Halloween. It has lots of mildly scary characters lurking around. This is scary enough for kids but it's not like it's so scary they crap themselves.

It's a large rectangle with (mostly) symmetrically pathways diagonal and across, but not through. It's all grass, and there are dozens of trees (and hundreds of squirrels), but aside from the children's playground in the southeast quadrant and the gazebo in the very center, there's not much variation. You can probably play a game of soccer/football/ultimate/kill the carrier in the northern part, where the trees are sparsest, but it isn't really a playing-sports park. No, Lincoln Park is more of a let's-visit-the-park kind of park. Maybe a poet's park? It's somewhere to walk and contemplate. I've done hours and hours of walking here, often in the snow, although I wish those hours had added up to at least days, if not weeks. One of my only regrets (of things under my control) from my year of living in Cleveland is that I didn't spend as much time in Tremont as I wanted to. The park really is lovely. It was way underutilized back then, but even though it was often nearly or totally empty, it didn't feel unloved. It's a proud old park in a proud old neighborhood of a proud old city. Whenever you're ready to enjoy it, it will be waiting silently for you. I really love it.

I really wish there was some way the park or the police perhaps could assist these people who regularly attend the park. Other than those factors, it is very nice! I also enjoy the Farmer's Market on Tuesdays during the summer!
