Linda is running the tasting room now and is a delight. She's knowledgeable, engaging and appreciates pairing wine with the perfect food. They produce quite a variety of high-quality delicious wines and are reasonably priced. The room is cozy and located in such a great little town. We had a great chat with one of their wine club members who had stopped by for a tasting. Among the best in Arizona wines, I'm a particular fan of their Mouvedre and Tempranillo, and the petite verdot dessert wine--don't worry, they serve the dessert wine with chocolate.

During our visit, we were treated to tastings of many different wines - they are not shy in sharing their wonderful product with you - followed by a tour of their small but impressive facilities. The whole experience was warm and welcoming from start to finish. Their riesling is special and worth a try for certain. They also have a delightful pinot noir made with Hungarian oak that creates a subtle vanilla flavor that is so enjoyable. I also have to give props to their respect of health during these unprecedented times. They took temperatures, asked for contact tracing information, and wore masks when appropriate.

The stay was fine overall, but there were quite a few frustrations. The contact number they gave us barely replied to texts, and no one ever picked up when we tried calling. The WiFi in the room was basically unusable--so slow that I couldn't even take a call. The shower has an open design, which meant water flooded half the bathroom every time. The casita itself is a decent size with space for a dining area and a bedroom, but the bed is designed to be lifted up to the ceiling, which felt completely unnecessary. That said, the view was stunning--facing the sunrise, and waking up to it was definitely the highlight of the stay. They provide a half bottle of wine as a welcome gift, but it's the cheapest wine they produce. Bottles at the vineyard start at $29, and anything else on the list starts around $44. For a place where you're right at the source, that felt steep. This makes me wonder how much are these wine costs if you buy it from a third party store. Personally, not that screw top makes any difference to the quality of the wine, but paying $50+ for a screw top bottle of wine off the shelf is unreal, especially coming from Europe. The restaurant is beautiful but the menu is rather small. Lunch is tapa style and dinner has a changing menu depending on what the chef wants to cook. Pretty hard to plan your meals if you are a picky eater.

However Dos Cabezas is extra special to me. My girlfriends and I do an annual trip to Sonoita for the past 3 years , it's 7 of us, and there is an amazing Airbnb next door to the winery so we've always stopped by and spent a good amount of time enjoying ourselves, drinking fantastic wines and the delicious Pronghorn pizzas! The service is fantastic, the staff are so friendly no matter who is working and ambiance is so relaxing. In the front there is seating in an enclosed patio type area, then you walk though a large wooden door into the tasting room area, and if you keep going back there's another dining room area with green tiled walls and the best outdoor patio out back with grapes growing overhead. The aesthetic is A+. I love all the plants. I'll definitely be back, wish it was closer!
