Because of its seedy past, I had avoided this place for 15 years. And then the Sorry Gulch became the Horned Toad and cleaned up its act. I finally stopped by yesterday afternoon, a Friday, when I read the reviews here mentioning craft beer on tap. I had to check this out. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the dark lighting reminds you that you are in a bar, but there are now various sections within the space for a variety of happenings: dancing, listening to live music, shooting pool, sitting on couches by a fire place, sitting at tables with friends, or sitting at the bar. Seats and tables are spread apart to comply with the 6' distancing. I sat at the bar with my friend and had a variety of Arizona craft beers. It was an off hour and quiet enough for conversation without yelling. I'm sure this place can get loud and crowded late on a Friday or Saturday night. Happy Hours are 3-6pm every day when the tap beers are $5 and there are IPAs, blondes, pale ales, stouts to choose from. The beers are constantly changing. I had a beer brat for $5 to stave off my hunger and got to talk to the friendly managers, Miles and Debbie, who both were very attentive to my friend and me. The outdoor patio is also dog friendly as long as the dog is nice, is leashed, and refrains from drinking alcohol. I will be back!

I was invited to sit wherever I wanted, so I chose a table along the wall with a big TV right above me. I was greeted kindly, and given time to order my food, which I decided would be a couple fried eggs, hashbrowns, sausage patties, toast, & cheesy grits. They were so good, with the hashbrowns being, as my partner put it, "The best he's ever had!" I personally enjoyed the patties the most, and the grits the least. The grits were made in a way that the shredded cheese was sprinkled on top of the grits instead of mixed in it, and I do not prefer that style. It was still good, just not as good as others I've tried. So that's why I'm not docking points; why be super critical on one side dish when everything else was an A+? I liked the wholesome feel of the restaurant, like everybody knew each other, and the fact that it was pet-friendly was a bonus too. A couple came in with three cute dogs, and that just made me super happy (not to mention, it WAS on my birthday too). I would come here again if I return to Bisbee.

It's located on the north end of a strip mall on the east side of SR92. There is no marquee off the highway, which is one reason it's not easy to find. I put the address in my Google Maps and it got me to the front door. I made Punchy's a meetup place for my beer-drinking friend yesterday. He, too, hadn't heard of it. We both walked in on a Wednesday at 3:45pm. The bar area had its steady clientele and another table of three sat nearby. What people first notice as they enter is the spaciousness. The bar is a horseshoe bar with room for 12 stools. It's a full bar, with 12 beers on tap and many more bottled. Most of the draft beer is only $5. That is on the lower end when compared to other bars in the area. I ended up ordering two different beers during my stay: Big Blue Van wheat beer and a Wow Wheat, and also had a late lunch from the food truck and had a patty melt for $7. It looked and tasted so good, my friend ordered one as well. He had his Dragoon IPA with that. Service was friendly and efficient. I like the dog-friendly shaded patio. I will definitely take advantage of it once it cools down some. There is much going on during the week. Mondays is Cornhole day in the evenings, Thursdays is bike night, and there are bands on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. There are at least two pool tables and an air hockey table.

We were early. Steve and his wife arrived around 5pm to set up. He began his set at 5:30pm. It wasn't until 6:30pm that the crowd came in, mostly young couples with children and a few dogs. Steve has nice voice suited for love songs. He performed mostly classic rock songs from the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, the Eagles. But like my friend noted, his voice add some melancholgy to every melody. The beers this time were a nice variety. I had a Hefeweizen and then a Milk Stout. Both were very good.
