I rarely get my hair done so I took a poll on Instagram and asked people where I should go. Everyone recommended Jess with Vintage Hair Loft but I was leaning towards not going because it's 45 minutes from my home. But I'm soooo happy I took the chance and made the appointment! I wanted blonde highlights but I wanted them very cool toned and haven't had much luck with this in the past. My hair tends to turn brassy so I spoke with Jess about what my goals were and she exceeded my expectations! Not only was the experience itself great, I also got my makeup professionally done by Heather and it has NEVER looked so good. After Jess and Heather were finished with my hair and makeup, they brought in some cute clothes and we had ourselves a little photoshoot. I've been to this salon a couple times and though they did a really good job, scheduling is an issue at times if you're doing it through text, and "they" (my hair dresser) didn't seem too knowledgeable about thick 3b curly hair. My hair texture is closer to a 3c/4a at the very front of my face and I had to straighten my own hair because she didn't know how. It was about $100 for balayage on virgin black hair, and $110 my next visit. Looked great, but next time, I'll just ask her to blow dry my hair and I'll do it myself at home faster lol Overall, 3.5-4 stars. read more

This is an upsetting review that I must make...The salon itself is very beautiful and the staff overall are very friendly, talented and welcoming. However, a recent interaction has left a very sour taste with this studio. Two years ago, I contacted a stylist at this salon to help bail me out of a bad coloring that I received from a stylist at another studio. She did a FANTASTIC job and had done a great job consistently since then and has been my stylist for the last 2 years. However, during my last visit to the salon my hair did not come out the way that I wanted and there were some very obvious issues with my hair (sections of my roots where a different color from others, pieces of my hair that frame my face were bleached and not toned down and now look orange/yellow) also my hair had gone from a very cool icy blonde to a very gold/yellowish color. As you may imagine, I was very upset with this and politely asked for it to be corrected. The Stylist attempted to correct it and while I did leave the salon thinking it looked better, I still wasn't happy. I sat with the hair for about a day or two and tried contacting the stylist about getting it corrected and was met with silence. I decided to contact the salon via private message (Instagram and Facebook) to see if another stylist could assist me and I even offered to pay. The original stylist saw the message and then offered to correct my hair further. I went in a couple of days later and my hair was attempted to be corrected once again, and again I left with a smile on my face and thanked her for her help, I still was not 100% happy as it still wasn't right, but close enough. I had attempted earlier this week to try and make an appointment with another one of the talented stylists but was quickly told no and that basically no one wanted to work with me. They informed me that i would need to contact my original stylist and she would be willing to reschedule my appointment with me and so I attempted to contact them, only to be met with a "ghosting" by them and the salon. This has confirmed my long time thought/belief that because I am not one of the very pretty skinny girls that they post on their Instagram, that they just tend to do "good enough" work and just phone it in when it comes to my hair. I do not think that if I was one of those beautiful skinny girls that I would have left the salon with my hair looking the way that I did. I would also like to reinforce that I was very polite about this and that I do not think me asking for my hair to be corrected, is wrong. I was not rude or obnoxious about this at all, so the very high school response that I am receiving from the salon is very disappointing. I hope that the salon can change, and this doesn't happen with everyone else, but this has long confirmed my thoughts about not being welcome there. The stylists are all very talented, but be aware that if you do not fit their mold, they will most likely give you "good enough" service and not the service that you are paying or hoping for from the pictures they post. read more

Not happy with my experience here. I asked for a full highlight, root melt, and trim - and paid a hefty amount for that. I specifically requested that I get a liveable style, one that does not need to be redone every 4-6 weeks. Rather than using a brown color on my roots similar to my natural color, she used an orange color that made any growth look absolutely horrible. 4 weeks after the appointment, I was honestly embarrassed to go outside. I called the salon because I felt I did not get what I paid for and asked to get it fixed. They said they would call me back when they had availability but never did. The stylist made no effort whatsoever to fix her mistakes. I ended up paying to get my hair fixed at another salon where the stylists were appalled that my hair looked so horrible. In addition to my roots, they explained that my money piece was done incorrectly and that my ends has been super overprocessed. I had to get an additional 3 inches cut off to fix the ends that got fried at vintage. Paying 225$ (plus tip) for the service I received is ridiculous. My hair is still recovering and now I'm doing deep conditioning treatments to fix what this salon ruined. Don't go here read more

Literally the same experience as Julia M. The stylist was nice but I booked for a balayage look and they did traditional old schools foils and definitely over processed the top to the point of breakage. My money peice is broken and looks awful. Then my bottom was left golden. I cried. I have been so happy with my hair for years and in two hours it was ruined. I remember sitting in the chair looking at other clients getting their hair done with that exact same problem. I was so scared at that point but the damage was done. And dont be fooled by the instagram pictures ... I one hundred percent was. My pictures are on google and they are not cute. I am speechless on the glowing reviews based on what I saw when I was in there. The owner and I could not work out an agreement bc I only was interested in a refund and she said it was not allowed. She ended up hanging up on me and all the while I never raised my voice or said anything offensive the whole time. It was so childish. I had no desire to go back in there to have my hair further damaged. Sometimes you just have to take the loss. I then decided to post my experience publicly on google reviews where she told me to reach back out to discuss further options if I was unwilling to come back in. After calling back in to discuss these other options she wouldnt call me back so I reached back out on instagram where she offered for me to come in again. There were no further options. She asked me a full two sentences. Do you want to work with your original stylist? Do you want to work with a new stylist? No... your response indicated that we would be discussing other options as I was unwilling to come back. It was such a joke. She clearly never thought I would call back. Completely unprofessional. No way to run a business. I wish I had paid attention to the bad reviews. I wish I hadnt let instagram likes fool me. Hopefully it helps others out to know ab what I went through. read more

I was recommended to this hair salon by some friends in the Clemson area. I needed my roots touched up, after 6 weeks of growth so I thought I would give it a shot. I'm from out of state so I've only ever gotten my hair done at my salon in NY. The salon is beautiful and the staff is kind, but my hair did not turn out well. I have warm blonde hair. When my roots were touched up, the whole top of my head went icy, and the bottom turned brassier. No timer was set for my foils so I think my hair was over-processed, then tried to be toned, but only the ends picked up the color. I tried to reach out to the manager but I didn't get a call back. Talked to the receptionist the second time I called and she put my stylist on the phone. No refunds or partial refunds were allowed. Not sure if this is stylist or salon policy. $125 is expensive for a service that damaged my hair. read more

Went here and saw Anna. From walking in the door I loved the atmosphere, and everything started out good. She was soooo rough on my scalp though. I had bleach left on my scalp when I left, and the worst crooked hair cut. Will not go back to her. read more

I was so disappointed how Sheldon did my hair a few months ago. Highlights look like leopard print. There are leopard spots all over my hair especially on the back. Sheldon covers them up with toner but after a few washes the spots become so visible. I had a Saturday appointment with Victoria Sears. The morning of, she texted me saying she needed to reschedule because her son was sick. I completely understood, kids come first. She ask me if I could come in the next week or the next Saturday and I said the following Saturday would be great. After that I never heard from her. On Wednesday I sent her another text saying I would love to know when she was available; no response. Thursday I called the salon and told them that I hadn't heard back from her and they said they would pass along the message. Several days later, still no response. I have essentially been ghosted by this hairstylist whom I was a new client to. I was extremely excited for my appointment and waited a month from the time of scheduling. I'm disappointed that I waited all that time for nothing and now have to start the search over for a new hairstylist. I'm sure Victoria Sears is great at doing hair but unfortunately customer service is a large part of the job as well. Overall extremely disappointed. read more
