Finally made it here after seeing this place in a TV ad. Came with a friend and we had a great time just browsing around. The space is really big and packed with records, DVDs, CDs, you name it. Everything is labeled pretty well but it can definitely feel overwhelming just because of how much there is. The good news is the staff is super friendly and easy to approach, so don't hesitate to ask them for help or something specific. I was also surprised by how much international stuff they carry. They even had a recent Kpop album from a group I like and I did not expect them to have it in stock. Overall just a really fun place to come to with friends, flip through some records, and maybe find something you weren't expecting. Would go back! read more

I was looking for a throwback record and I knew this would be the place to find it. I checked online first which they said it was available but I also called to confirm. Not only did they have it available but it was priced well too. The staff was very friendly and this place is huge. Highly likely that whatever you are looking for, they'll have it here. My only issue would be parking. I was lucky to find a spot in front but usually it's busy in the loop so get make sure you are good with walking. Still a great location with all the other shops around. I will definitely return as my kids are into vinyl records now and would like a few of their own. read more

This is an amazing record store. Easily in my top 5 in the country now based on my recent visit. It's sprawling, stuffed to the rafters with vinyl and CDs, etc. It's organized my genre and subgenre, perfectly ordered making finding what you're looking for easy but if you struggle, their staff can quickly help you track down what you're looking for if they have it in stock. I like that they have a discount section of new/sealed titles at very affordable prices as well as used/trade in at similarly fair prices. Even their brand new sealed vinyl is fairly priced compared to a lot of stores in particular. An institution for a reason! I've been going to Vintage Vinyl since before I even had a record player (for the cassettes!), and the vibes are great. Friendly staff and there's always something good playing. Their record release parties and listening parties are quite fun if they are taking part in them - I know it varies per artist. Today, the Tyler Childers event even had some free beer! It's also truly my favorite record store in STL. Vintage Vinyl has an impressive collection of vinyl records across all genres. The store is massive and quite well organized. Sadly, for my own personal taste (mainly 80's music), the "used" selections were lacking... mainly new copies of classics, and nothing rare, such as 12-inch singles. But that can be hit-and-miss with any record store, so I don't count against it. They definitely seemed to have a huge, well-curated jazz selection as well as a good sized punk and metal section. To my delight, I found a nice Prince bootleg vinyl, not easily found in most record stores. The staff was nice and helpful as I navigated the store- not just to me, but other customers, in my observation. That's always great to see, as some record stores have employees who can be a bit snobbish and distant. read more

Of course, you can't expect records and CDs to be cheap, so I'd say they're decent valued. The place was spacious, plenty of merchandise to fill the area-wait! After a disappointing experience at another record store earlier in the day, my wife and I decided to check out Vintage Vinyl while visiting St. Louis -- and we're so glad we did. The difference was night and day. We always make it a point to dig for vinyls whenever we travel, and Vintage Vinyl totally delivered. The selection was solid -- a great variety of hip-hop, R&B, soul, and jazz -- all at very reasonable prices. But what really stood out was the customer service. We interacted with three different team members, and every single one was helpful, friendly, and genuinely seemed happy to assist. It felt like they actually appreciated having us in the store, which goes a long way. We left with some great finds and told the staff how much we appreciated the experience. I spent a few years in the 70s in record stores as a manager, so this throwback to the period brought back terrific memories. It's stuffed with LPs, EPS, CDs, 45s, DVDs and even a few cassettes. There might have been some 8 tracks but I didn't go looking for them. Memorabilia and posters, too. The point is, the double V offers a terrific browsing selection. Vintage Vinyl is a record store's record store. Paying tribute to the fantastic artists, bands and albums long before my time. Its place in St. Louis is one of memories, history and legacy. I spent half a day on Delmar Loop prior to seeing The Rolling Stones, exploring the epic boulevard of local shops and restaurants. Vintage Vinyl was high on my list, and I easily could've spent a small fortune on their epic selection of wax. When I walked into the shop, I immediately heard a familiar tune. Sweet Virginia by the Stones, off their landmark album Exile on Main St. I felt at home, as not only is that album an all time favorite, but so it the song itself. Lo and behold, they were playing the album front to back to commemorate the Stones being in town! This is my version of heaven. I had a good amount of time to kill, but I could've spent a few more hours in here. It's a really good sized shop, lined with LP's, 45's and various memorabilia. Their dominant section was classic rock and music of 70s and 80s. However, I was impressed with their deep finds of hip hop, country and even a small yet mighty collection of metal. Now that I think about it, this may have been my first record store experience since Covid began. Man, I miss wasting days inside these shops. Coming in from out of town I made it a point to visit several of the local Record Stores. First on the list was the legendary Vintage Vinyl. It's big, not Record Exchange big but large. Very well organized and easy to find anything you need. I ended up buying more here and any of my other stops in St. Louis. The prices were average, not too outrageous, but the selection is excellent, I pulled a mildly rare Nikki Sudden album from England that I needed. Most of my time was on the floor in the bargain bins, the one complaint I have is bending down on the floor going through all the bins was painful, but I get it.... I found 10-15 excellent releases there. They had by far the best bargain area of any place I visited. The service was friendly and they had cool merch and things outside of music. I consider it a must stop when in St Louis. read more

Great place to both buy and sell music in various media. In early August I brought in several boxes of CDs. They told me they would need an hour to review and give me a price, so my son and I had floats at Fitz's and walked around the Loop. I appreciated the fact that they took their time to look at the CDs and give me an accurate price. You're not going to get rich selling your old CDs, but the price they offered was good enough. Added bonus: while in the store I noticed a display that "Loveless" by My Bloody Valentine has been reissued on vinyl. read more

Discogs *LOW* value on my stuff, in the condition it was in (all NM/NM still in shrink, most unplayed) was over $500. Was offered $70 when I expIained that individually all the albums were worth around that much, was told "it's a stretch, but I could do $80" I'm aware they need to keep the doors open and the lights on, but less than 20% is craaaazy. I came to the Halloween convention in St. Louis and of course I always have to look for Record Store. I own a DJ company also so I love collecting records but I only only like 12 inch singles. I called a few places in town and most of them did not have much of a selection. From my first call to vintage vinyl they were so friendly and so helpful and told me they had lots of 12 singles. And boy were they right they had lots of them and for great prices.. as soon as I arrived, they had parking I walked in I was greeted and the first person on the floor was very helpful to show me the sections where they had the most 12 singles. I found some great classics at great prices. The only thing I was worried about is how I was going to carry 40 Records to the airport. The young man at the counter told me not to worry they could ship them out to me for the small price of five dollars. I had to ask him twice because I couldn't believe for five dollars. I could have them shipped all the way to California. His manager and his manager said the same thing. I have nothing but great things to say about this store.. from their prices to their great customer service I can't wait to go again next year! Probably one of the best record shops in the Midwest, if not the country. Dare I say it almost rivals spots like Amoeba in SF (well maybe at half the scale). Still, Vintage Vinyl is well-curated, the staff know their stuff back-and-forth and upside down, and it's great spot to hang out at, chitchat and browse.
