Last week, I walked into this shop and received anything but VIP treatment. I walked I'm a barber VOLUNTARILY agreed to cut my kids hair the very next day and did not show up. None of the barbers in the store could reach her (i.e the barber) and when I reached out the owner I got crickets. Wouldn't go back to this spot if they paid me. read more

Came in on a whim as a walk in. Fate would have it that the barber who took me was also from Oakland, CA. We chopped it up bout the Bay, DC and barbering. Got a great cut and a free shampoo. Check J for a smooth clean cut, she got bars. read more

I think i found this shop off of a google search for a Nail Salon. I ended up doing a little more of a search on Yelp on a Thursday. It said to download another app (forgot the name) to schedule an appointment. This shop had availability the next day at a time that worked for me. My son was in need of a cut from being in quarantine for 10+ weeks. I booked with Terry. He greeted us on the way in and wa sanitizing the area prior to the appointment. The shop was empt aside from myself, my kid, Terry. His other coworker was on the way out. Each area had a screen to allow the 6 feet requirement for COVID-19 and you must wear face masking in the shop at all times. He had a box full of aprons. Each customer gets a NEW apron then it's trashed after the cut. He took his time with my son and my kid just loves his Mohawk that he's been wanting. thank you!!! We will be back! read more

I saw Janine today for the first time at VIP Cuts. The shop is professional and the owner clearly takes pride in the business and cares about customers; not overbearing, just quietly concerned. Janine is at the top of her cutting game and asks all the right questions to ensure you stay on the same page. She stops along the way to check for satisfaction. She was great. Do not go to T. She came in 20 minutes late and claimed she could cornrow but could not do a simple part and 2 cornrows even. She blamed the haircut for putting one cornrow on top of my head and the second on the side. One was thicker and she did not even finish cutting the fade around the sides. She left parts of the cut long and the whole time she was on the phone paying absolutely no attention to my cut. She then proceeded to demand 10$ more than her original price since it took her 3 tries to do 2 cornrows that I still had to have redone at a different salon all together. read more

I just got the BEST haircut, possibly in my life, from one of the loveliest people I have ever met. I am a middle aged white woman with a whole lot of ugly straight hair. I have spent a fortune at salons in search of the cut that Daniel gave me today. I wear my hair short and the traditional treatment that I get at a salon looks like the old fashioned, old lady tease out and spray. Daniel gave me the most perfectly blended, stylish (definitely not old lady cut). I absolutely love what he did. I went in last minute to get a shape up on Saturday February 18 when I got in one barber told me they closed as soon I left another barber was coming to the shop he said I got you he walks with a limp. I told him I need a shape up including my beard dude spent 2 minutes on my beard and my hair line he left a black spot on my face with his dirty razor I don't know what he did to my hair line and beard but that's the worse shape up ever and had the nerve to charged me $30 for nothin. it's a shame yall smto have someone like that at such a nice spot. money angry hope you enjoy that $30 but you the worse barber that ever touch my hair. Moved to Bowie two years ago and had been searching for a place that could consistently cut my hair and beard correctly. Oh and charge me the same price when I when in. I have been to VIP Cuts three times, hair cut by a different person each time. Each person has taken the time to listen to what I needed, and correctly do the job with care. Post COVID-19 Madness Cut: Its been a solid three months since I was able to get my hair cut. In the current climate of COVID spreading, Terry has gone above and beyond protocol to keep his clients, his staff, and the shop safe and sanitary. Walking in, there are curtains between each chair, and all staff has on masks, and gloves. No walk-ins are allowed. IMPORTANT: No beards are being cut - WHICH IS HOW IT SHOULD BE! Safety First Ladies and Gents! That would require a mask to be removed and therefore exponentially increasing your chance, as well as the barber's chance of contacting COVID. Don't take the risk. Its not worth it. A beard can be cut and fixed down the road. Just do it yourself till then. Mad props to Terry and his staff for continuing to be an outstanding business! read more

A Barber just charged me 32 dollars for a regular fade and line-up. I feel ripped off. The barber shop itself is great, but this particular barber is bad for their business and reputation. They need to drop him from the roster. First of all, he looked like he just rolled out of bed. He wasn't even wearing socks, and overall he looked unhygienic. Also, he was a mouth breather that sounded something close to the snoring of a person with sleep apnea. However, this guy just breathes that way. Needles to say, that was the worst and most cringeworthy experience I've ever had in a barbershop. And again, 32 dollars... ^^^ for that. Disgraceful!!!! read more

This place is horrible. In a Covid world the new owner Kevin kept me waiting for 15 minutes despite having an appointment during a time which was not busy, so a "backup" certainly was not the case (didn't even have the courtesy to apologize). It seems he forgot about the appt and began to cut his friends hair even though I was not late. He then proceeded to remove my mask without permission and didn't inform me of a pretty decent price increase before the service began. read more

I've been looking for a barber that I can trust to take care of my beard. I don't want to travel into DC to one of those high priced hipster shops. I had seen several good reviews of VIP Cuts so I decided to give them a shot. I called to see if they could handle doing a straight razor bald head as well as my beard. The young man Cordell told me he could handle it and that I could come right away if I wanted. When I got to the shop about 30 minutes later he was waiting and ready for me. He was very friendly and got right down to business. As I looked around I saw everyone from preschoolers to older men and different races getting serviced. I liked seeing all aspects of the community. As I listened to the conversation among the barbers it became apparent that Cordell was still a little new in the barbering field and I got a little worried that I had made a bad choice. However, Cordell handled himself like a true professional and had I not heard the conversation I wouldn't have known that he wasn't a veteran. He gave me a great razor shave and trimmed my beard exactly like I wanted. He was quick, without making me feel like he was rushing. The price was more than reasonable. The only thing that would have made the experience better would have been a hot steam towel treatment (hint hint). I saw a sign for a new barber shop- I needed a haircut, so I walked in. After being stared at for a couple of seconds, I asked them how much they charged. Then the owner said one of the guys could take care of me so I agreed. The guy just sat there and proceeded to mumble that he didn't "specialize" in straight hair and refused to do it. Really? Don't post pictures of people with straight hair if you can't do it. Needless to say I left. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the owner followed me out and tried to make things right.
