They're the front line so to speak...they set the tone as far as customer service goes in my opinion. With that being said Ms. Darlena was who I selected for my services. She was most gracious and helpful. She gave me some recommendations on how I can maintain my cut and color between visits. I will be back only because of her. I made a 5:30 pm appointment on booksy with some guy named Timothy. I'm in town visiting, so booksy is my usual go to. I should have choose another barber when I saw he had a 4.0 rating. My uber rating is higher than his haircut rating, so I should have known this experience was going to be hit or miss and OH WAS IT A MISS. The appointment was confirmed, so I decided to show up 15 minutes early (I like to be on time for stuff). When I walked into the barber shop, every barber gave me the typical "who is he here for look." I proceeded to ask for "Tim" and the guy in the first chair pointed out his (Tim) chair. Well, Tim had someone in the chair, so I sat in the waiting chairs and waited patiently. He finally finished his client at 6:30 pm, so I just knew I was next, but I was wrong, he put someone else in the seat. LISTEN. I already hate barbershops that's set up like this. Haircuts are supposed to be an ambient experience, even when other barbers share the same space, but that was not the case. Hey Goofy (Tim), if you're going to have an appointment system, honor that shit, ESPECIALLY when you jokas are charging $35+ dollars for a fuxking fade and you have first timers. You never know who is coming through there to check out your services. Nonetheless, I don't recommend this joker to anyone. I said I was going to leave a Karen Yelp review and here it is. I've been going to Liz consistently for about 2 years. My cuts are always sharp and never leave me disappointed (hence the 2 years of loyalty). Besides skill, Liz has amazing customer service and always greets customers as they come in the shop, ensuring that they are taken care of by another barber if not one of her clients. This barbershop is extremely classy and professional. The owner, Nate, has done an excellent job with this business. He just opened up two additional locations in Laurel and Capitol Heights. I've been going to the original location in Bowie since 2011. The shop is bright, clean, and modern. I've had four different barbers, and all of them have been professional and have done an excellent job cutting my hair; I am never dissatisfied. The only reason I've had so many barbers is because most of them have moved to different parts of the country to start new lives and pursue their dreams. I am currently a client of Ms. Darlena, who is one of N'Style's veteran female barbers. She is truly a gem and I hope she stays at N'Style for a very long time. She's highly professional and the care she gives her clients is an 11 out of 10. She does an amazing job cutting hair, and she always ends my haircut with a face massage that includes moisturizer and a warm towel. I also take advantage of the shop's shampoo service. Shout out to the Shampoo Assistants, who work equally as hard by shampooing hair, answering the phones, and keeping the shop clean. I truly appreciate all the contributions of the staff. Recently, the prices increased slightly, but I assume it's due to the overhead that came with opening the third shop in Capitol Heights. I am not bothered at all by the increase (mine was only a $2 increase). It is the first time the prices have increased in the 6 years I've been going here. I am more than happy to pay a little more to keep this amazing establishment in business. I've lost count at how many times I've used the word "professional" in this review, but trust me, it's worth reiterating. I moved to the area and in searching for a barbershop I chose to give this one a shot. The reviews were great, the shop was near by and it looks to be a small business. Unfortunately this was a huge mistake. I walked in and was sent to an inexperienced barber without notice (found this out after my cut was already ruined). I showed him a picture of myself with the exact cut I wanted. He was usable to duplicate it. Another barber in the shop was called in to help correct his mistakes (thankfully bc now I look at the very least presentable) however I still left without a cut near what I asked for and was over charged (should've been $20, I was charged $25). If you choose to try this place, be sure to go to one of the barbers up front. They seem to know what they're doing. read more

Just your regular old corner stop barber. This is my second visit. The first time I came 15mins before closing and no one wanted to cut my hair. This was my first time going to this salon. I had been looking for a place to tame my uneven fro and because of the closeness and good reviews I chose this place. This place had one lady in particular who does natural hair, Phylis. She was completely booked that day but she did make room for me which I thought kind of her. I made it very clear my hair is DAMAGED and UNEVEN. I want all the damaged hairs and split ends cut off. Length was really not an option, I just wanted a fresh new start. The lady was nice but she was not gentle on my hair at all and easily offended. All I said was that she should cut off all the damaged ends and make my hair as even as possible. She kept repeating throughout the process that "you did a job on your hair" and "im gonna give you a good cut" "Im gonna give you a good cut" etc etc. I explained to her that my hair was uneven because of breakage and some of it falling out about two years ago but I guess that just went right over her head. I know of some particular people and I am not one of them. I just made a simple recommendation to her so that she would know what to do. She literally burned my hair with the blowout she gave me prior to the cut. She also was not gentle with her combing either! She did ease up but anyone with natural hair knows that you should be gentle on hair when combing it dry and especially blow drying it. If not you can cause more damage to your hair and prevent it from completely reverting back to its curly texture. My cut took not too long, abt an hour. That was a nice amount of time considering she fit me in and was doing another lady's hair in btw. At the end of the cut I could tell by feeling the ends of my hair and just looking in the mirror that my hair was not even and all the damaged ends WEREN'T cut off. I could have given myself the cut that she gave me! I wanted a precise cut. Instead the back and front of my head were short with the middle being long. This is crazy because the back of my hair used to be the longest!!! She was way too confident in her work for me too be leaving out the shop the way I did. I couldnt even look in the mirror anymore. I dared not ask her to make my hair more even, she would've just made it worse. I just paid the lady and left in utter disappointment. If you have natural hair and you want a simple twist out or a big chop you can go to her but that's about it. She is horrible at haircuts, don't waste your money. As for the N style being a barber shop, awesome environment, clean and good cuts for men. But if you're a women with natural hair go elsewhere. You won't regret it. P.S. After taking out my braid out the next day I could tell that my hair was even more damged than before. Usually, it would just be hard for me to separate the ends of my hair. But now unraveling my hair was much harder with it getting tangled halfway through my braids. NEVER will I go here again. read more

I really like this barbershop. It looks great, has a lot of amenities like TV, candy, magazines etc. It's just great. The energy in there is nice too. All of the barbers get along and act as if they were family. I came in here for a haircut and my barber was Dante. Not only did he do a great job; giving me exactly what I wanted, but he even made small conversation (which a lot of barbers won't do) which made the experience less quiet/awkward. It didn't take too long to get the cut done, we talked, he asked me questions, it was just something new. I definitely recommend him if you're looking to get a shape-up etc. This was my third time at this shop and they never fail to impress me with their service. Just had one of the rudest experiences at this barbershop. Had seen this shop many times as it is in my community and thought about taking my son there instead of driving 30 minutes to a salon in Wheaton that specializes in kid's hair. Driving out of the way is an inconvenience and I would like to support my community if possible. Arrived at the N'Style and was nicely greeted by one of the barbers at the front who asked if I was looking for a particular person and I stated this was our first visit so we were not. He then began to talk to the first barber closest to the door, a young woman who was currently cutting another patron's hair. He asked if she had anyone after him and she said she didn't but didn't look enthusiastic about having us walk in either. She only gave us a quick glance and never spoke. We sat down and began to wait. My son is 2. He is active and granted...it was near his nap time...so he was a little restless. This, I take responsibility for. He was in between being a bit fussy and being silly trying to keep himself awake. His dad and I took turns holding him and his dad even took him outside of the shop when he began to get a bit loud. However, he was never out of control or running around or being significantly disruptive. Just an average 2 year old boy. I was sitting there thinking that maybe I should try to come back another time since the wait was a bit long and my son was restless. But before I could decide anything, the barber we were waiting for whispered (loud enough that I heard her) that she wanted to pass my son on to someone else and not cut his hair because she didn't want to be bothered with him. Then they began to laugh back and forth in an "inside joke" sort of way. This was infuriating and extremely rude. So, I grabbed my son by the hand, alerted his father that we were leaving and we exited. Walking right by her, the barber didn't even ask us why we were leaving or inquire if we were returning. She did not want to deal with a child, or at least mine, and it was obvious. This may be a "five star" barber to regulars, and the barbers very well may be great. However, the customer service we (did not) received today was very telling and a horrible first impression of a semi-first time customer (since we never got any service). Maybe this is not a reflection of every barber or stylist in the salon, but I will not be back. This may not mean much to the shop as a whole, losing one customer or one sale, but it is something they really should think about. Maybe my 30 minute drive to Wheaton is worth it. Children are people worthy of respect and parents vote with their dollars. read more
