I went in for a manicure and a pedi. The pedi was so so. She gave a good massage, but there was no hot towels, she didn't cut my cuticles, there was no lotion on the legs. I still have cracked heels that she didn't slough the dry skin off. During the pedicure, the guy started removing my previous manicure, so I couldn't enjoy the pedi at all. He left residue from my former manicure on my nails, I picked a light purple and I walked out with pink nails. Also, he wasn't very nice when he couldn't "guide" my fingers into the dipped powder. NO STARS! VIP NAILS DO NOT HONOR THEIR GIFT CERTIFICATES! I went to VIP NAILS in Alexandria, MN as I had a $50 gift card to use. I was going to get my hands and feet done before my son's wedding. While in the process of getting my hands done, she asked if I could pay before putting the nail color on. So I handed her my $50 gift card, which would pay for both services. She came back to me, said it was expired, and showed me the date. It was issued on 4-13-2022 and also says expires on 4-13-2022. (yes that's right...same date) I told her that MN LAW (which happens to be statue 325G.53 GIFT CERTIFICATES) says that purchased gift cards can't expire or depreciate. The customer had purchased it for a service to be done, and the business collected the money. She proceeded to call the manager on the phone and had me speak with him. He said he would only give me half the value. During the conversation, I told him about the law regarding gift cards. He then proceeded to call me names, insulted my upbringing, so I hung up. The girls called him back, and he told them to kick me out because I was a RUDE customer. They had already taken my gift card, so I was kicked out with only half a service done and denied the remaining balance which I was rightfully owed. I was calm and respectful, and this is how they chose to handle the situation? I still can't believe this is how I was treated. I will NEVER recommend VIP NAILS to anybody!!! I am so disgusted by this nail salon. I brought my two nieces 7&10 for mani/pedi's. I myself had fills. I am not from this area, so I relied on Yelp. The 1st salon doesn't do fill, the 2nd was booked. So we ended up here. The gal that did my fills was not friendly and condescending. The guy that did my nieces nails was ok, but unfriendly to my 7 year old niece. Her mani/pedi was $35. Fine Now my 11 year old niece, I paid for hers. So when I was done I got a bill for $90!!!!!!!!! $30 for mine-fine, but $$$$60 for my 11 yo niece???? They tried to explain, but each time I got a different answer. The final answer was $40 for mani/pedi and an extra $20 for gel polish!!!!!!!! UNREAL!!! This is the place to go if you want to get raped!!! So disgusted!!! Never Again VIP Nails. Staff is attentive and knowledgeable. A little intimidating for first timers though because they don't really explain what they are doing or what they need from you while they are working. However they are very friendly with the customers who seem to be regulars. read more

I've come here a few times to get my nails done and they usually do a pretty good job, but today the gentleman who did my nails was rude. They told me to pick out a color, and as I was rifling through the gel color box he grabbed it from me and said "hey you come here" and when I looked up he had tossed the box on a chair. He started up the water for my pedicure and it was literally scalding, I couldn't even put my feet in it. Not too many nail salons to choose from in Alexandria but if you need a quick mani, I'll suggest VIP. I didn't get the whole treatment with a warm water soak just straight into the manicure, polish, and done. Again, good if you need a quick mani. Don't let the name fool you and think that you're getting a VIP treatment. They do have a punch card so after your 10th visit, you receive $10 off. read more

From the moment we arrived it was not a pleasant experience. We made a reservation a week in advance for 4 sisters who havent seen each other in 6 years to have a girl day. When we got there were were all seated with cold water to soak our feet in. Not what I am used to for sure. Two of my sisters got their pedicures started right away and then two of us sat for a bit. I was next to get started. I was watching the clock because I wanted to see how it compared to my place in Chicago. (at this point one of my sisters is still sitting there soaking and we are all half done) At about 12 minutes into the pedicure he was already putting lotion on my legs and massaging my feet. Seriously, where was the fire? Pedicures are supposed to be relaxing, not so rushed you feel uncomfortable. Oh, and my guy checked his cell phone and stopped what he was doing to text people. Really? At the end he told me to be careful getting out of the chair because he didnt want to have to fix any polish that might smudge. Well excuse me mister! There was probably a nicer way of handling that. I get pedicures all the time in Chicago and the place I go charges $20. I am there a minimum of 45 minutes in the chair getting pampered. Not counting the time for drying. This place charges $30 and it is such a lesser experience. Save your money! Go someone else in town or maybe even St. Cloud. It's highway robbery! Every time my sister comes to visit me in Chicago we go to my place because she loves it so much and never gets that kind of treatment in Alexandria. Oh and you cant give a tip on a credit card so guess what? No tip! I rarely carry cash so that only hurts the employees. read more

I went to VIP to get my acrylics off and the person who helped me didn't get them off all the way. Every time I've gone to get my nails done here I've had a bad experience :( another time I went in and showed one of the employees a simple design from Pinterest, he said "I'll do this quick since I'm on my break" !! And you could definitely tell he did them quick, the color had thin streaks and they were not done evenly. They will also charge $5 over their prices that are listed on their "services" board, not including the tip! :( read more

Love this place! They always do a great job and if I get a smudge or break a nail they are more then happy to do a quick fix! They are easy to get into and do great work. I go for both pedicures and artificial nails. I also bring my nieces go get mani/pedis too and they always do a great job. The nail art they do is always great too! I recommend them to anyone that is looking for any nail services. read more

One guy in particular loved watching videos while doing my fake nails, now I have a bad habit of biting my nail so getting fake nails are nice. And I had to get them done for a wedding, not even a week past and 2 have broken and I have no clue how I will just look down and it's cracked, looked at my nails and massive air bubbles, probably going to pop off in a week and you can best bet I'm going to a different salon wether I have to pay or not acrylic nails shouldn't be like this on week 1. I went in last hoping he wouldn't be there and he was and redid it and what was he doing? Watching games on his tablet while doing my nails, not the first time either. I wish I could give this place less than 1 star. I arrived as part of a bridal party, which had a reservation. There were not enough staff members available for our party so I had to wait for my pedicure. No problem, I'll just soak. Nope. They wouldn't fill my sink until they were ready and when they did fill it, the water was barely warm! The pedicure itself was VERY quick and nothing like to the types I'm accustomed. The gentleman started painting my nails and I interrupted him and told him I asked for a French on my toes. He refused to do it and said "no one can see a French on your toes" and proceeded to paint my nails solid. I was infuriated but didn't want to make a scene in front of our bride so I just bit my tongue. I got up from the chair and dropped the towel on my toes and smeared my big toe. He refused to fix it saying he couldn't' see anything wrong! Again, infuriated but I didn't want to cause a scene. Oh, and did I mention a quarter of my toe isn't painted and they didn't even get off all of my old polish? Yeah, I could've done better if the 6-year-old junior bridesmaid did my toes! Okay, onto my manicure. This may possibly be the worst manicure I've ever received. Again, it was very quick and not thorough at all. I don't even think he clipped cuticles AT ALL. I got a tropical manicure with green tips and a black line to match my bridesmaid dress. The black line is so think I could've painted a thinner one with a paintbrush. When it came time to pay, we all recv'd different prices. I paid $55 for a manicure (no tips) and pedicure. I didn't get gel polish so it should've been a lot cheaper. People who got tips and gel only paid $65. Yeah, I got ripped off. They even charged $30 for a pedicure for the junior bridesmaid. ALL they did was paint her toes and let her soak a little! ! ! And, to top it off, you cannot leave tips on a credit card? Seriously?!?!?!?! Here we are, three days later and almost all of my polish is off, chipped, or peeling. It's HORRIBLE. If you can't speak my language, include me in your conversations and not speak whatever it is amongst your coworkers and then giggle and laugh while glancing at me, I don't need you in my community, let alone my country. If you want to do business in the USA then speak ENGLISH. They probably won't be able to read this review as it is in ENGLISH. The people are rude and try to get you to do a "full set" without first explaining what their options are. They made me and my family feel pretty stupid.
