Unfortunately, I am leaving an unfavorable review. I have been here twice. The 1st time was fine. I came the 2nd time and the technician did a very poor job and even cut some skin on my right big toe. It was very painful and i strugggled with shoes. The nail was also misshapen, the cuticles were not pushed back and I was unhappy. I went back and showed the manager, Lena. She said to come back after the nail grew back and they would make it right. When I came in today and spoke to Lena, she said that it would NOT be on the house and that the technician only filed it incorrectly. It bothers me that they lied and did not take accountability or make it right when I gave them the opportunity to fix it. They did not. I will never go back and I am a local. For $40.00, they lost a customer and are practicing bad business. VIP is DEFINITELY NOT THAT. read more

There were 6-7 workers and no clients, but I was told to come back later because only one person could do acrylics--and she was "busy." Odd, but I left and came back after breakfast. I've taken my wife for pedicures around the world and this is prolly the worst. No wonder the other places don't have walk ins. Her nails had air bubbles in at the start and were chipping and removing before the night was over. I'm literally driving her to Kmart right nor to pick up remover and nail polish. this place is deceptive about their pricing. they stated $35 for a basic pedicure. they did a sub-par job and when questioned about their pricing at checkout their response was "sorry, this is Tahoe". the lady apologized about four times which is truly a sign that she knew she was ripping me off. I paid $70 for a basic manicure with chrome. but it doesn't look like chrome at all and they didn't do even the basics for a standard basic pedicure. I will NEVER go back. read more

One of my worst nail experiences ever. Im giving them 2 stars instead of one because they got me in quick and they offered me a drink once in the chair. Besides this though I have to say this was the most PAINFUL set of nails I've gotten. Nails should not be painful. This woman was so careless and rough. Twisting, squeezing and pinching my fingers. Filling so hard that I could feel my heart beat in my hands. Cutting up my cuticles so deep to the point I bled. I literally was almost in tears many times. I even spoke up 2 times and let her know she was hurting me. She would apologize and go back to doing the same thing. Another negative, half of my nails are crooked. I couldn't understand anything the tech was saying and had to.get help translating from others and then to top it off she charged me $70 for a VERY basic set of nails. terrible service. the owners husband did my nails, I asked him to do 5 layers of dip bc he was doing them too thin. He refused and made them extremely thin, one nail cracked two days later after paying $60 for a crap job. I called his wife the owner today to fix my one nail and she refused saying she has no openings, it's a Tuesday mind you, and when I went in for the initial service it was walk in and no one was there, I should've taken that as a sign. Good Nail places are usual packed, and I went on a weekend. Whenever in So. Lake Tahoe, I used to have Manicures and pedicures at VIP Nails , but haven't been there for a few years. Unfortunately it has dramatically changed. My first clue should have been there weren't many customers in there when I went in to make an appointment for the following day. When I arrived there was one other customer having a manicure and a few having pedicures. I was assigned a man who did my manicure. In my opinion he was totally untrained and should NOT be touching anyone's nails. When I made the appointment I asked if they could remove the dip powder manicure that I had. No problem! Well I have never had or seen any gel or dip powder removed with what looked like an electric sander or drill. He left some of the dip powder on my nails but took off some of each nail. Then, he gave me a regular manicure with very thick polish and top coat. Any professional would have checked the supplies and replaced them or thinned the out. Needless to say it took a very long time for my nails to dry. I tried again the following week, same man, same problems only this time he cut my finger with his scissors. I went back the next day to show the woman in charge how terrible my nails looked. She rudely told me it was my fault because I had come in with the dip powder on my nails, she redid my manicure in 5 minutes. As I mentioned, she was very rude and he was completely unprofessional. I had my nails done there several months ago. The gel manicure did not last even a few days before it started peeling off and I didn't have my hands in water a lot or anything. But worse than that, they cut the crap out of my cuticles and DESTROYED them. I am from a larger city and have had my nails done plenty of times and no one has ever destroyed my cuticles like this. Most places put some cream on them, push them back, and cut off if there is a hardened part on the side of the nail. But this place cut all around until I bled. My technician did not speak English so I said something to the girl next to her and she just shrugged and said "that's how they do it in her country". The only girl who speaks English in the salon basically said "oh well". Since then I've been using all kinds of creams and sleeping with gloves on trying to get them healthy again and they are still growing back all weird and jaggedy. On top of all of that, I paid a LOT of money for this. This isn't some cheap $15 gel manicure place. My hands used to be one of my better features. Now they are ruined. Stay away!!!! I love giving good ratings to good businesses but I needed to warn people before this happens to them. read more
