I was at VIP Nails on May 19 to have a gel fill done. I had a nail that was pulled up and loose and I told the nail tech about it. He said oh I'll build that up for you. OK, I left well enough alone. Fast forward to 23 May and the nail breaks. So now on Sunday when I have to go to work, I have to go and get my nail fixed. Why because it wasn't done properly the first time the nail was lifting up over halfway and it wasn't fixed properly. Your place is very dirty. You do not sanitize any of your tips that you use when you do any manicures or nails. I spent $55 to get my nails done. I did have a design and you charged me $15 for the design. Not one of my nails look alike. All 10 of them are completely different shapes and I spent $55 for that. The man who did my nails sucks as a nail tech. First of all he should've fixed the nail that was broken properly. Secondly, he should've made sure all of my nails were the same shape. I don't plan on ever stepping foot in your place again. The environment is very clean and Kept neat I had a picture and was ready to be told no they couldn't do it but not here ! They can do it all !! No design is impossible which felt amazing ! I normally don't get my nails done, but on Sunday I did. I got a mani & pedi and the whole experience was subpar. The man taking care of me must have been new. The water for my pedi was cold and wasn't turned on to bubble. When it came time for my mani I picked a design that I saw on their Social Media Pages, but wanted it done with the color I picked out (see pictures included). Instead I got my nails fully painted and what I think looks like a firework. He cut one of my cuticles so bad it bled the entire time i got my mani. He did try to clean it and apologized but didn't fully clean it before painting the nail. I understand accidents happen but this affected my experience and the outcome of my nails. When he finished he never applied cuticle oil or a massage which I thought was kind of standard. It has now been 48 hours since receiving my manicure and the gel is chipping off of my nails and one even completely fell off. Not worth the money paid. read more

I love this place! I've been to almost every salon in the Wausau area over the past 6 years and VIP Nails is definitely my favorite. The staff is friendly, they honor appointment times and they take their time. I always get my nails done by Kevin and every pedi I've gotten no matter who does it does a great job. I also get my under arms waxed there on occasion, pain free, quick, clean, and only $20 They also just got new chairs for the pedis and they are COMFORTABLE!! I love this shop it is the best place in town hands down. I know because I've been living in Wausau off and on for 6 years just moved back in 2019. I have tried all the shops and it's always something I don't like rather it's the shape, how long it takes, breaks easily, polish chips to soon etc. VIP nails is my go to place after trying damn near every shop in town!!!' My hands and feet are always exactly how I want them no matter who does my nails which I like a lot. I can call and just come in I appreciate the no waiting for or having to make appointment. If you are cheap though this is not the place for you. I spent $105.00 before tip on a spa pedicure and gel nails. The "Spa pedicure for $65.00 was a rip off." The nail tech spent 25 minutes on my pedicure. My heals were extremely dry and still a tad bit hard. The tech had a reg client, that she called by name come in, and shortened up my pedicure to less then 1/2 hour then she had me go with a different tech. In fact there was a lady that had the spa pedicure and was still with her nail tech by the time I finished with my pedi and gel manicure. I would suggest not upselling if you don't have the time to do a decent job with the service. I will never come back here. I felt ripped off walking out that day and should have spoken up then. Save your money and go spend else where unless you want a bad experience with over priced services. read more

Now that I've taken a nap and fully assessed the situation, I can write an honest review. I came in on Sunday morning after realizing a nail that had lifted from a fill in had started to show signs of fungus. I told the tech I just needed to take the acrylic off, do a manicure and ~maybe~ do a gel coat. He drilled my polish off and started to get a nail tip to pop the acrylic off until I asked him to soak them. If I wanted to pop them off, I could've done it at home. He soaks my nails, not for long and then drills the rest of the acrylic off. He soaks my hands in water, and at this point, my nails were already thin from the acrylic but all the extra drilling didn't help. He rushes through my manicure and cuts my cuticles twice, I thought they were just little knicks, maybe he just got a little too close, but no blood. Wrong. My finger bled for a while after I left. He didn't place any antiseptic on the cuticle. I go to pay, after I get the most basic manicure of my life--like didn't clean the nail and acrylic shavings off my hands between cuticles and polish--and the guy that checked me out asks me to pay cash and to use the atm at the front and there's no fee to use it. Albeit small, there was a 2.50 fee, he could've just not known, but I truly doubt it. I'm not from here, but this is my last time going to a nail shop anywhere for the rest of my time here. read more

So when I went in today the guy that did my nail messed up on my nails and had to redo them and kept messing up on nail the first time he messed them up he rushes and was mad he did so and cut me and continued to go over that area when he "fixed it" the swill lines still don't look that good but he tried I will give him that but what made me want to make this review is because my sister got a similar design and her nails were 65$ and mine were 70$ and he must of charged me for the extra nail polish he had to use since HE messed up and I think I should of got 5$ off my nails for him messing up and it taking longer. read more

They do good work for sure. My biggest complaint is that appointment times are not honored. People call and make appointments for a reason. I had an appointment at 2:45 for a full set, didn't start getting worked on until 3:10 and of course was late for work. Additionally, I've been here probably 15 times and still no one knows my name or recognizes me it seems, but plenty of other women are greeted by name. Great service! They were pretty busy when I went in and so I expected a little wait but it couldn't have been more than 5 minutes before they got me started. Everyone was very friendly, costs were clear. I had Heidy and she did a fantastic job. She suggested a fun twist on what I wanted and I LOVED it. Just a little extra without being too loud for me to wear at work. She was very gentle, and my cuticles and feet look a million times better now, plus she didn't file my nails paper thin for the gel polish. Only thing I noticed were that massages weren't quite as long as what I've found typical for basic mani/pedi at other salons, but they do have an option to pay more for a longer massage.
