Pay attention to the bad reviews!!! This man will switch up on you so fast. I'm the type of person to eat a meal that's bad at a restaurant, tip 20% and say it was great because I don't want to cause a scene, but my experience here was crazy. He seemed really nice at first when I came to drop my items off, and was saying he could fix things if I didn't like something when I can back to pick them up. But when I did, and I asked if he could make a further adjustment he started yelling and me all angry, saying "You don't know anything, you're confused, this is what you wanted. I have cameras, you can't yell at me, I have health problems and it's your fault if anything happens". My other 2 items had only been cut, with pins still in them, so I asked for a refund, but he refused and said he could still hem them, but I wanted to get the hell out of there after he had just yelled at me. When I asked again he started yelling at me more saying he wouldn't give me a refund because he had put hard work into the pants, to which I said "but all you did was cut them" and then more yelling "I never want to see you here again"...believe me I won't be going back. Save yourself the frustration and don't bring your stuff here. They have no commitment to quality here. If you don't like how your garment turned out, the owner yells at you and says it's your fault and theres no chance of a refund. I brought my most expensive suit here to have let out so i could fit into it for a wedding, i also had it dry cleaned. The cleaning was sub-par, and the quality of the work on the alterations was not well done. he took no measurements and just guessed, and now my suit doesnt fit right and i need to take it somewhere else to have it fixed, as well as cleaned again because the suit came back with many visible stains that a proper cleaning could remove. When I expressed my dissapointment, instead of hearing me and trying to accomodate my needs, he got really bullish, and told me i was difficult. for wanting my suit to fit properly and be clean. never going back here ever and i regret that i didn't read more reviews first. read more

I've been using VIP Tailors & Dry Cleaners for some time now - always exceptional service, and the proprietors are truly lovely people! However, recently they went above and beyond. Having put on a few COVID pounds I had to have my tuxedo altered for an upcoming event. From what I could tell, not an easy task...however, just a week later I picked it up and it looked like a new suit! I'm so pleased at the expert craftsmanship and attention to detail. Owner stated they had thread colour to match my shirt and ended up just using red - if i wanted to not match the colour i would just sew the button on myself. The button that was added onto the shirt was sewed on while collecting excess fabric from the side so it bunches up. Another button broke while in store and he offered to use Krazy glue to fix it but instead used a putty material. When I told his partner about the poor sewing that bunched up the cloth, she tried to steam it instead of resewing which released the putty from the button and stained my shirt. When I brought this to his attention he at first offered to resew the button and dab at the stain but later refunded me not including the original tax and told me he had camera footage of me and I was to never use their services again. I don't know what the previous reviewer is talking about. The proprietor of this shop is from Afghanistan and very friendly. He worked at Harry Rosen for years and is excellent. Service was terrible, he assumes he knows what you want and when it doesn't turn out as expected, it's your fault. I wouldn't recommend this place, no wonder their Yelp rating is 2.5, wish I had looked at that feedback before wasting time & money. Even if I thought their service was slightly cheaper, by the time I added the cost of going to a 2nd tailor I ended up paying double. His attitude is friendly at the beginning but as soon as you've paid upfront and got your business it's a different story. Habib has done dozens of pieces for me, and I am very happy with each one. He never hesitates to ask if anything needs to be changes after he has altered a piece. In fact, several times I have asked for small changes after his first alteration (more for my own comfort, it still looked great) and he hasn't even charged me. All I can say is, Habib wants his customers to be 100% satisfied with the work that he does. It all comes down to communicating what you want. After moving to the area a few years ago, I tried a few different places for my dry cleaning and alterations. VIP has been the best one and I now come here regularly for dry cleaning suits/shirts and tailoring suits. Both services have been consistently excellent. 3 of the 4 articles of clothing I had dry cleaned here were shrunk significantly, one sweater was so small I couldn't wear it anymore. I basically paid them to ruin my clothes. When I called and explained, I was told they're not responsible and it was suggested that maybe my body had changed since I dropped the sweater off (which was 5 days earlier). I didn't even receive an apology and when I asked to be refunded for those three items I was refused. Horrible cleaning service and customer service. read more

I just picked up several precious pieces of clothing that Habib altered for me. I was so impressed by the quality of the tailoring work that I called him right away when I got home. This dry cleaners is TERRIBLE. First of all, they can never quote you how much it will cost because most often the neice of the owner is the only one in the shop and she doesn't seem to have any idea of the business policies. I brought a nice silk top in for dry cleaning (white) and when I received it back it was yellowy brown, the way that a shirt looks after years of wear (it was less than a month old). I complained and she said they would clean it again (they send out the dry cleaning) when I picked it up again it was still yellow and to my horror i was sure they had stained it. I asked to be reimbursed for the cost of the cleaning (no way in hell they were ever going to pay for the shirt) and the owner started screaming at me that he wasn't going to reimburse me and to not come back if I didn't like it - TRUST ME, i wont be. Brought it to Golden Hangers in Yorkville and they made it look good as new :) DO NOT BRING DRY CLEANING HERE - very mean man, terrible cleaning read more

I just got back a sweater that had two quarter size holes in the front. The owner said it must have been me despite there being no holes in the sweater prior to bringing it in. 100% positive. He would not take any responsibility, got super defensive and said don't bring your stuff here anymore then. I was not even asking for money. Just wanted to show him so this wouldn't happen again to me or you. Perhaps my help would improve his processes. Not great customer service. Super hard headed individual to talk to. Lack of attention to detail in tailoring and poor customer service unravels this business. I don't think visible blue thread stitching on a black garment is "modern styling" or "no big deal." And it seems like poor customer service to be told you're being a "bother" for asking why this was done. In fairness, I've had no problems with my actual dry-cleaning. I couldn't help but feel like a sucker for paying $12.99 to get a casual dress dry cleaned here. All of the signage indicated much cheaper prices such as suits for $8.99 or three pairs of pants for $9.99. So why was my dress $12.99 plus tax? I didn't ask the price ahead of time which was my mistake but there was no explaination as to why it would cost more than all of the listed prices. It felt sexist. Tailor didn't understand my instructions and ended up cutting 12 inches MORE than I requested. When I asked for my money back, employee told me to come back tomorrow and speak with the tailor. I eventually did get my money back when I refused to leave. Never coming here again. I moved out of the area but I had amazing service from an honest and experienced woman at Kembass Cleaners and that's where I'll be taking my money. read more

Habib is the WORST tailor and most incredibly RUDEST person I have ever met. He mistakenly hemmed a pair of my pants about 4 inches too short. When I showed it to him, he refused to take any responsibility and yelled at me to leave his shop and find another tailor for my clothes. When I suggested his customer service was not great, he flipped out even more and said he could care less about what his customers think and suggested that I was stupid and needed to go.
