I highly appreciate that the dispatcher actually answered the phone and talked to me (unlike Yellow Cab that had a robot answer the phone and abandon you on hold). The dispatcher and the driver (Scott in taxi #652) were both friendly, courteous, and did there jobs well. I will highly recommend VIP Taxi to others. Here's the situation: My ride from Mesa to the airport fell through, so first I booked a ride with Yellow Cab online. After waiting almost an hour, I called Yellow asking when they would assign a cab to come get me. The Yellow dispatcher told me to wait 20 minutes more. After that 20 minutes was up, and the App said that they still hadn't assigned a cab for me, I called Yellow again and again but only got a robot recording that put me on hold. That was when I searched online for a different taxi service. I was that VIP Taxi was recommended by the PHX airport. I went to VIP Taxi's website and was relieved to see that they have a map that shows where each and every one of their taxis is in real time. I saw they had at least one taxi not too far away. I booked a ride online, and requested a text. When my old flip phone from out-of-state buzzed with an incoming text, but had an error message saying that for some reason I couldn't receive texts, I called VIP Taxi and was relieved that the dispatcher quickly answered the phone. He was very courteous and helpful. He researched my reservation, told me my taxi # and gave me the ETA of when it would arrive. (15 minutes!) That was waaaay better than my dismal experience with Yellow Cab. During that 15 minute wait, I saw on the Yellow Cab App that they had finally assigned me a cab. Then I saw that the Yellow Cab App said the cab had picked up the passenger, and then that the ride was completed. Weird. I guess the Yellow Cab picked up someone else. I messaged the Yellow Cab that it had picked up the wrong person. Meanwhile, the VIP Taxi arrived in 15 minutes, as promised (I got to watch its progress as it drove to my location). The VIP Taxi driver had followed directions exactly to pick me up at a certain spot in a large apartment complex. I, with my suitcase, got in the VIP Taxi, and as we pulled away, a Yellow Cab showed up on the same spot (almost 2 hours after I had made that reservation). I asked the VIP Taxi driver to stop and let me talk to the Yellow Cab driver. I got out and asked the Yellow Cab driver if he was looking for (my name). He said yes. I apologized profusely that I would be traveling in the VIP Taxi, and told him why I had had to call a different taxi service to take me to the airport. Back in the VIP Taxi, I told the driver how sad I was that the Yellow Cab driver was the one who got burned because the Yellow Cab dispatcher was so flakey. The VIP Taxi driver replied that the Yellow Cab driver was working for the wrong company. I hope that the kind-looking man driving that Yellow Cab will read this post and consider switching to work for VIP Taxi, which in my experience is much more organized and professional. read more

When you call for a taxi its usually something you want asap. Every single time I have requested a taxi it has taken over 40 minutes to find a driver. Even requesting a taxi an hour in advance just to make sure I didn't have to wait took 30 minutes to find a driver. Your prices are more expensive and your wait time is far longer than most. I called one the other day and the car was dirty and the driver continually was hitting on me even after telling him I'm married and that my fiancé works for the Company. There are several taxi services in the Phoenix area if you choose not to use Uber or Lyft. Of these services, VIP has to be the best. The drivers are generally courteous, the cars are generally clean and the taxis most often arrive on time. I only took a ride with this cab company because the business my motorcycle broke down in front of called it for me.... and then what should have been an $8 fare turned into a $15 fare because the driver didn't have change (The oldest cab-driver scam there is), then refused to take me to the closest Circle K off meter so he could get change. As far as taxi companies go, this was my best experience ever! I have been in some scary cabs before I tried V.I.P. Taxi. Once a driver had one of those stuffed monkeys that you could make talk, and he kept making it talk to me the entire cab ride. Not in a funny way either. It was unsettling and creepy. I have been in those gypsy cabs with no meter that you are forced to take when the bar closes and everyone needs a cab. You know they are going to rip you off, but it is still better than drunk driving any day of the week. I have been in some smelly and dirty cabs that I never want to see or smell again. And last but not least I have been in the cabs where the driver takes you the long way just to up your fare. They always think you don't know what they're doing. I know what you are up to scumbag. So imagine my surprise and delight when I called V.I.P. Taxi Service for a pick up, and they arrived when they said they would! When they arrived an automated call came in asking if I still needed the cab, and if I did how long did I need he driver to wait. I punched in 5 minutes, since I figured they'd be late. The cab was clean, and so was the driver. He was friendly, personable, patient, and helpful. I forgot to bring the address, so he looked it up for us. The return driver was just as nice and professional. Imagine that! I guess this company is headquartered in Chicago, and that is where their dispatch is. When I spoke to dispatch, they were also nice friendly, and helpful. Seriously, I cannot recommend this company enough for all your taxi cab needs! read more

They told my client that is in her 90's they would take 10 minutes to pick her back up after her appointment, it has now been 1 hr and 45 minutes she has been waiting for a cab to pick her up. I have been calling VIP taxi, checking on the status of her ride and they have said "we put in her order"... now when I call, 4th & 5th time, they hang up on me... this is a terrible business!! My wife and I needed a ride to the airport to catch a flight to start our honeymoon. As to not bother any of our friends/family for a ride at 5am, I decided it would be best to hire a taxi. The reviews for this service on Yelp looked ok so I thought I'd give it a shot. I went to their website and scheduled my pickup (http://www.ridecharge.com/s/az-phoenix-tucson/taxi/branded/vip_allstate) and it went smoothly. I was actually pretty impressed with their website (http://www.viptaxi.com/) and online scheduling functionality. Soon after I received an automated email confirmation and text message. After verifying all the information on the confirmation email and text message, I felt secure in the fact that I would be picked up on time and without incident. I felt so secure that I didn't even call them the day before to confirm my pickup. This was a HUGE mistake. The time of my pickup came and went so gave them a call using the number that was listed on the confirmation email. I spoke to a nice young lady who proceeded to tell me that they had no record of my pickup reservation. Lucky for me I left a big cushion of time just in case something like this should happen. Anyway, the girl sent a taxi and 30 minutes later one arrived. I didn't miss the flight and it all worked out, but I will never again use this service. I agree with most of the reviews on here though; the cab was pretty nasty but the driver was great. Oh, and the greatest part is that I received TWO automated email "Thank You's" sent from their ridiculous online "booking" system. read more

We were able to get a cab in 10 minutes to our door at 1:40 in the morning, and the person was happy to be there. Cool feature, they text you when they're on their way, so you don't have to guess! I've used VIP taxi for about a year because its the only company in the area that the Taxi Magic app assigns. I've had terrible service from them. The cabbies are often dirty and at best smell of heavy smoke, but I can deal with that. Their biggest problem is that they can't get an address straight. They only pick me up from 2 places, my work and home, and they have yet to go to the correct address. Even when I call the dispatch before hand to make sure they have step by step directions. The worst was today. I have a flight this am and called last night for a 5:30 am pickup. By 545 I see that no cab had been dispatched so I called them. Their response: we can't find a cab in your area, we'll call you when we do. Even when I reminded them of my flight they had nothing to say. I'm done. Never again. read more

Today VIP taxi dropped the ball and that ball happened to be my senior citizen mother. While I have used these guys plenty of times in the past, I cannot begin to tell you how incensed I am at the treatment they gave my 70 year old mother. Today she decided to go to Marshalls on her own using the taxi. Things started off just fine, she was picked up and taken to her destination (two miles away) and charged $6.00... This is usual and customary though a little expensive if you ask me. It was on the return trip that things got out of hand. She called the cab and was immediately placed on hold for what amounted to be 5 minutes before talking to anyone. Then when she got through to someone they were polite and told her to wait and her ride would be there shortly. She proceeded to wait for 45 minutes and still no sign of a cab and nothing from the cab company. She called to inquire and was placed on an immediate hold for another 5 min before she was told that her cab would be there in 10 minutes. Which, to their credit, it was.... read more

I am always quite paranoid about getting a cab to the airport after an episode of 30-minute delay (from a cab company I will not name here, but will never utilize its service again). I decided to try my luck with VIP. I downloaded the App TaxiMagic, called VIP Taxi multiple times to make sure, and prayed a little before I went to bed. Don't EVER even think of calling this company. The first time we called them to use them we called at 7pm for an 8pm pick up and requested a 6 person van. They said no problem and gave us a confirmation number. They then called back 20 MINUTES before the cab was supposed to arrive and said "sorry we don't have a car for you after all." Needless to say I would not even consider booking with them. We are now screwed as our dinner reservations are at 8:30pm and every other cab company is quoting us an hour wait, which would have been fine had Vip TAXI not LIED to us. I'm a person who loves deals and coupons and tries to get the best price for everything. I somehow got a coupon for this taxi service that was $2 off of a $10 ride or $5 off a $25 ride. I figured that when I first came to Tucson the taxi ride was a little over $30 so this coupon would be useful when going back to the airport at the end of my trip. The receptionist at my hotel called the taxi for me and then I got in the cab. The driver was very friendly and we had a nice conversation throughout the whole ride. Here comes my big complaint though...when we pulled up my taxi fare showed as $24.50 on the screen. "Are you freaking kidding me!". Seriously you can't round it up to $25 or just drive in another circle to make it meet that goal. I gave him the coupon and he said he could only take off $2. If i had just made another stop light I would have gotten $5 off. How annoying. So instead of paying $20 before tip I had to pay $22.50. Yes I am a big baby for that little few dollars. I am glad though that it was cheaper going back to the airport than from it and the man was friendly as well. He didn't have change for $100 though and so I had to run in real fast to grab it. If I paid with credit card he said he couldn't put the discount. Its ok. The taxi did come fast after being called and it was a smooth ride so I guess he was following the rules and I thank him for the drive. read more

This is my new go to car service. Driver was very courteous and offered a lot of assistance. A truly pleasant experience.

They were 20minutes late the first time and I was late for my conference. PLUS then they dropped my mom and auntie off at the wrong hotel even though I had given them the exact address. The driver asked my 80 year old mother how to get to the hotel and of course she didn't know. I considered this a fluke and used them again. They were still late but not as bad Then they were late again. The next time they were over 10 minutes early and I was told they'd "only" wait until the time it was called for. Even when we had waited multiple times when they were late. Then again, today, they are over 20minutes late. They should at least give a courtesy call when they are going to be that late for a reservation so alternate plans can be nade. I made advanced reservations for ALL these situations. I'm still waiting for them and now they are 35 minutes late. Unacceptable. read more

Just a bad as Discount Cab just a different color. I was excited to have a new, emerging, locally owned taxi service alternative to Discount Cab (they are horrible). A few weeks ago I needed to be picked up from my mechanics. It took the driver an hour to pick me up, it was fun to watch her get lost and drive in circles on their app. I then needed to be picked up to go back to the mechanic. Their app said your driver is 5 minutes away just down the street and sitting in the MacDonald's parking lot. An hour later I called dispatch, who informed me that my ride was 5 minutes away. Sure they have been 5 minutes away for an hour, maybe you send someone else? Twenty minutes later a taxi did pick me up. Last night I scheduled a cab (5 hours prior to pick up time) to pick me up at 7pm for a concert starting at 8pm. At 7pm when there was no taxi, I called customer service, no cab available to pick you up. 10 minutes later dispatch called me a cab will pick you up in 10 minutes. I cancelled when the app said my ride was 30 minutes away. I didn't want to be late so I drove myself downtown. i work for a hotel I recommend taxi services all day. I will never recommend VIP again. I will recommend a car service for $10.00 more you will at least get picked up on time. If you have all the time in the world VIP is great! I didn't have unrealistic expectations VIP Taxi. Apparently, prompt service was too much to hope for, kiss me goodbye VIP I'm gone for good. read more

Yesterday I was driving along side one of their cars in Glendale, and one of their drivers~a 400 lb. behemoth of a man rolls down his window and litters a bunch of paper all over the street. I tried to call the company, but evidently their is no supervisor EVER available, and no way to even leave a message. Rude operators too~I'm done here. One of their drivers totally ripped us off on a trip from the airport to our hotel. He took a route that took us on a completely unnecessary loop around the airport to the south and west when our hotel was to the north and east. The distance and cost was more than double checking what it should have been. This was highly frustrating and gave us a terrible first impression of Phoenix. I need to write an update as I was very pleased with the way they handled a complaint. This sure can't be the same VIP taxi I initially had a bad experience with. Anyway, the story goes like this: I complaint on Yelp about a really bad experience, they apologized, sent a gift card, and said please give us another shot... so I did. Friday night in Old Town Scottsdale after a few cocktails we decided to call it a night. We called VIP, and within 15 minutes the taxi showed up. Not only that, but while we were waiting, I received a text that my taxi was on the way (this never happened the first time around!). The driver was very friendly, and actually used the meter (if you've ever been out in Old Town, you know cabbies never use it, and use it as a way to rip you off once the bars close). I apologized for the short trip, and he told us not to worry about it, "it's my job, and sometimes it's a short ride" he said. Anyway, overall I was extremely pleased and I'm glad I gave them a second shot. I will definitely call them first next time I need to get home via taxi. read more

I paid in cash, a lesson I have learned form other cab rides where I had been over charged, but the experience was good. The 4 rating is due to a somewhat icky cab and the slightly late pick up time. A truly disappointing experience. I am attempting to manage the provision of transportation for a very elderly lady in treatment for cancer. The rides are for her to attend radiation treatment, infusion, etc. My experience has been that (1) VIP rarely arrive on time; (2) They claim that they have not been instructed but then seem to discover that instruction later; (3) The driver has more than once failed to let the old lady off outside the door of the treatment center but instead in the parking lot - really inconsiderate for someone who has great difficulty walking; and (4) When told "there is a cab on the way" for a return after treatment this is not the case but instead delay is added upon delay. If there's anyone at VIP who wants to get in touch and actually cares about improving their service for an elderly cancer sufferer who needs to get to her appointments on time - or risk missing them, which may affect the outcome of her treatment - they can contact me. Don't use the cab service at all cost. Its terrible. We called 411 for a cab company today and this is who we got. After nearly 30 minutes of waiting for our car we finally decided to call them. Apparently the driver was at the wrong place. The people over the phone were rude and the cab driver was creepy. When we called to get a cab back, the lady demanded an address. We were at the Target in Tempe Marketplace. Who doesn't know where that is? We ended up calling 411 again to get another, less rude, cab service. This company was not very helpful to my needs. My son and his mom came in on the greyhound by sky harbor airport this morning at 3am. They said they need a booster for my 7yr old son. Well they didn't have a driver with one that was available. Too bad so sad I had to go with another taxi company that would bring them to my residence in Phoenix.
