I was stranded with a vehicle that one other local job could not fit in because he was absolutely certain I needed extensive work---likely alternator and more. I called VIP who had no openings for a week, but I was leaving the next day for another State. She told me to come in, after a couple of hours, they got me in and, lo and behold, I just needed a battery. They had every opportunity to tell this 70 year old woman that I needed the alternator and whatever else. But, they were honest, kind, courteous, reasonably priced. I was extremely happy with the excellent customer service I received that VIP in Belfast. I had a flat tire and called to see about pricing and availability. The manager I spoke with offered to have an employee drive to my location to repair the flat by having it pumped up. I was then able to drive my vehicle back to their location and have the tire replaced. That saved me a lot of time and hassle, so that to me is above and beyond customer service! read more

Excellent experience! We're from NJ and were visiting in Maine when we had a bad coolant leak, basically stranded. We called up VIP and they took us in an hour. We took a walk downtown and explored while we waited and just 2 hours later we got the call that it was fixed and ready to drive home safely! Mark was extremely helpful and did everything in his power to make sure he could fix what our last mechanic didn't. He was very knowledgeable, which is sometimes hard to find with a foreign car, and educated us on the issue. I bought some snow tires and wheels through Tire Rack on line. They suggested I get them mounted on the car at VIP due to TPS sensors that have to be matched to the car. I had them delivered to the store already mounted and balanced and when they came in I made an appointment to get them put on. Today was the day at 5pm. My timing was good, I was the last one for the day it seemed so I was taken right in. Since this was a new Rav4 for me, I also had some OEM mud flaps and yellow bulbs for my for lights that I had bought off Amazon. I asked if they could be mounted at that time since the wheels would already be off. They said sure. They were quick and only charged me for a tire rotation for changing the tires and wheels, Thank you VIP you have made me very happy! read more

Had a GREAT experience in the Belfast VIP!!! As a rule I don't go to VIP because our local store tried to rip off my mother but it was a Saturday and we were on a day trip to Bar Harbor. The gentleman there, Ray Buzzell, was very, very customer friendly and seemed genuinely interested in helping us get back on the road than raping us of as much cash as possible. They were very quick about having us in and out and on the road with minimal cost and maximum service! I wish I lived closer to Belfast because I would use that VIP store on a regular basis!!!! read more

The folks were very polite and accommodated us without an appointment within 2 hours. Their prices are not cheap but realistic. It did seem strange to me that there were 4 people waiting at the time we were, and every one of us were told we needed an alignment.....makes me wonder.... It would be very courteous to the customers if they would clean the waiting room area, I wiped down the hard surface chairs before we dared sit on them, absolutely grungy, the upholstered chairs were so filthy I would not sit on them, the window and floor were unbelievable, no excuse for that. read more

I took my vehicle in due to some brake problems back in June of 14'. While I was there I decided to get an inspection as well. They did an estimate which included new rear brakes and calipers, new break line, new tires and a little other ancillary work. I scheduled an appointment for the next day I was available and dropped the vehicle off the evening before. After not receiving a call with the status of the vehicle at about 4:30pm I had someone drive me to the service center. When I arrived they were still working on my car. Turns out they only had one master mechanic who could work on it and he had gotten pulled off to do other jobs that had come in. I waited for my vehicle for another 2:30 hours and they finally had it done. Everyone was very apologetic and helpful and I did feel bad for them having to work that late. The overall work was valued at about 1400 dollars. Four months later my girlfriend was driving the car in another town and the breaks go soft on her very quickly. She ends up staying with a friend and taking it to their mechanic in that town. Turns out something has gone wrong with the rear calipers and it is leaking break fluid. This is the same problem that this VIP supposedly fixed less than six months ago. Needless to say I am not happy with this service center and cannot recommend any individuals take their car there do to the potentially dangerous results of having their breaks fail, not to mention the 300.00 additional dollars required to fix something that should have been fixed properly before. read more

We moved to Maine 11 years ago and needed to find an auto service station. We tried three local shops before going to VIP and have stayed since. The current crew, Ray Buzzell and Joe Whiting are part of the team that exemplify the customer service that we have come to expect and gratefully appreciate. Believe it or not they look to save you money, knowing that you will likely return as a loyal customer. I once was concerned about my tires and thought they needed to be replaced. They took me out to my vehicle and showed me the indicators on the tire treads, I had rubber left. They could have sold me a set of four tires but chose to create a good relationship with a customer instead. Through the years they have sold my family a few set of tires for our vehicles, as well as excellent repair service, breaks and oil changes. Thank you guys! Job WELL Done! read more

On a recent trip to Belfast our vehicle started making a strange noise. Once we arrived at the inn we spoke to the innkeeper who directed us to VIP and said they were very good to deal with. It was a Saturday morning and extremely busy. We explained our situation and the noise and the lady working the desk asked one of the mechanics if he could take a quick ride to hear the problem and if we needed to leave the car she would schedule us in. The mechanic took a ride, heard the noise, put the car on the left and discovered a loose heat shield that was just hanging on. He removed it, they did not charge us and we were on our way within 20 minutes. I would highly recommend them. read more

Where to start...came here back in dec to get new tires put on my car I got in Oct. My dad helped me pick out what type I should get (The best kind in the size of tire for my car). I get there and Ray, the manager I think?, tells me that whoever had the car before me put different size thing on it so the Fiesta would have to take different sized tires than they usually do. He said because of this I couldn't get the tire I wanted and would have to choose the other kind that was best for the size tire that would fit my car. I told him if that's the only option then I would choose that but he insisted that I called my father and made sure it was okay even though again that was the only option for me to do. He made me feel as if I was a child or because I was a woman my decision wouldn't be heard without my fathers approval. Fast forward to about 3 months after these tires were put on my car and the tread was more than 50% worn off. I went to quirk to have them check over my car and the Treads were almost completely gone and there was a bulge in one of the tires that would lead to a blowout. They also informed me that the wrong size tires were put on my car. So because of Ray at VIP I had to buy all new tires because they put the wrong size on my car. They also would not help me much with a discount and putting on new tires on my car because they do not believe that they are at fault for the Treads wearing down as quickly as they did. I would never go back here ever again and I make it a point to tell everyone that I can to never go here for any work on their car because of Ray and how he managed things. read more

This is a good place to go and get your oil changed and your fluids checked, especially if you are suspecting that there is something wrong with your car. If there is so much as a hint of a problem, they will quickly tell you something like "your car will blow up immediately unless you have a million dollars worth of work done on it and, coincidentally, we just happen to have an opening right away!". I usually leave there feeling like I've been stolen from, even if I have just gone in to buy a "Little Tree" air freshener. I always look carefully as I am heading towards the door because I am half expecting to see a couple of big-necked goons standing there to turn me upside down to shake every last bit of change out of my pocket before they let me out of the store. Yeah, it's tricky for us non-mechanical types to go to these places and not get taken advantage of. If you don't know anything about cars, don't trust these guys to help you out...they are too busy scheming a new way to rip you off! read more

I made an appointment for an oil change, arrived on time, then waited in the waiting room for an hour....for an oil change. I was the only customer there. After an hour, one of the techs comes into the waiting room with what I assume is supposed to be his serious face, and asks me to come out back. He and the other technician start telling me there's a bunch of stuff wrong with the car, and I need to get it fixed right away, it's practically undriveable, it's going to be really expensive, etc. They give me extremely vague evidence for all of this and then ask me questions about the car's performance. They ask me if it shakes at high speeds, I say no, it does not. (It doesn't). A few more questions like this. Same answer. Their 'extremely technical explanation' included telling me that the engine was "bad." I said that I'd have my mechanic look at it, and that I wanted to pay for my oil change and get going. When I get up to the register to pay, suddenly everyone is super busy (which makes me wonder why they spent an hour on an unasked-for diagnostic, when I came in for an oil change only, if it was going to back them up so badly), so I wait another fifteen minutes just to have the guy ring me up (I'm still the only customer in the store at this point). A few weeks later I take it to my regular mechanic, who checks everything over, and tells me there's nothing wrong with the car. read more
