The most I can say about them is that they suck less than any other tire dealer around here. I called and inquired about some tires. They said they'd call me back with the info I needed. Of course, they didn't call back. I called again a week later and finally got the info. A few days later, I came in to order the tires I wanted. They said it would be a couple days and they'd call me when the tires were in. Of course, they didn't call. The only reason I didn't get the tires elsewhere was because there are only 3 other tire dealers that I know of in a 25 mile range and they are all worse than VIP. Tire Warehouse is especially awful, and I would NEVER go there again for any reason. After more than a month had gone by, they called and claimed the tires had just come in. Right. I made an appointment for the following week to get the tires installed. I made sure I was on time for my "appointment" and arrived 10 minutes early. There were already about 5 people waiting ahead of me at my "appointment" time, so I could see things didn't look good. Half an hour after my scheduled appointment, they finally pulled my truck in to work on it. They then had the truck in there for over an hour. It does not take an hour to change 4 tires. Apparently they work on everyone's vehicle in parallel. To try to make some use of the time wasted waiting, I went in and said I wanted to pay my bill while I was waiting. They said I had to wait until after it was done to pay for it. When the truck was finally ready, an hour and a half past my "appointment" time, I had to waste another 5-10 minutes checking out and paying for it. Another policy designed to do nothing more than annoy? During the nearly 2 hours I was there waiting on my tires, very few, if any, other customers came in. I think maybe one additional person came in during that 2 hours. When I left, two of the people that I think had been there when I arrived were also leaving. So apparently they schedule the entire afternoon's work all for the same 1 PM time slot, and then they work on them all at once. That's real clever, and great customer service and respect for customers' time. What's the point in making appointments if they're going to give everyone the same appointment time? It just annoys people. If I had just dropped in to get tires, the excessive wait wouldn't have been so bad. But the whole point of an APPOINTMENT is so the work gets scheduled at a particular time, so there aren't big logjams. They also said I should go back there to get my lug nuts' torque checked. I'll just do it myself, rather than go through all the waiting again. I also noted on the receipt that they set my tire pressures to 35/35. The door sticker says it's supposed to be 65/80, plus I have big labels on the outside of each wheel well indicating the proper tire pressure for that tire, so now I'll also have to get out the air compressor and fix that, too. I've used VIP before and I guess I'll use them again, but I'm not thrilled about it. read more

I bought a set of 4 all season radials here in the spring of 2022. The "package" includes various services for the life of the tires, including "tire rotation.' Everybody here was friendly, with good senses of humor, and helpful. I asked the mechanic to check a brake for me while the car was on the lift and he invited me out to look at it when he had it apart. It needed nothing, so he put it back together and that was that: no extra charge. I've had no problem with the brake since, and the tires I bought (which are highly rated in Consumer Reports) ran fine all summer. In December of 2022, I called and asked if the "tire rotation" in the package included swapping out my summer tires for my winter tires, which are already mounted on their own rims. Normally, I do this myself, but if this service was available: why not? I called to find out if the "tire rotation" part of the "package" would include the tire swap. "Steve" explained, while they call the swapping a tire rotation, it isn't part of the "package," and they could swap the tires for me for $20. I swapped them myself. I'm an aircraft mechanic, so it's not a big deal and I have the peace of mind knowing that the lugs and wheel contact areas were dressed with anti-seize compound and the nuts were torqued to 85 ft-pounds. This isn't a complaint, just a clarification to all my fellow, tight-wad New Englanders that what "we may hope" is part of a deal, corporate America won't always see it our way. I was treated with courtesy and respect at VIP, as was my car. I didn't show up on a Sunday afternoon with something that finally broke after I'd ignored/neglected it for months and then made it (only in my mind) VIP's fault for not giving me instant gratification, having all the parts on hand, and performing a six hour repair in twenty minutes, so I could drive three hundred miles and be home in time for my favorite sit-com. The only four letter words I have for VIP is: well done! read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. My window fell off its track, and because it was a Saturday, VIP was the only place I could go. For two hours they "worked" on it. They didn't actually fix it or ask if I wanted to completely fix it until two hours later. They got my window back up, claimed that if I did not attempt to roll it down it would stay up, but then informed me it was not a total fix. The actual fix would be to replace the window regulator. Keep in mind, they told me this after two hours of labor. So, they quote me about $330 for the regulator. I go about my way because they aren't my usual mechanic and figured once the week rolled around I would get it totally fixed. Later that day, my window falls down. I did not touch it, going about 40 mph it fell down. I managed to get it almost all the way up, but I was a bit pissed at that point. Today, the following Wednesday (the day before I get it fixed by my actual mechanic) my window fell all the way down, and it will not go back up. I called VIP and asked that either they fix it and install the part for free, or refund me. They refused both, and were quite frankly a jerk about the whole thing. Summary of story: don't go there even if it's an emergency. They will rip you off. I have disputed the charge on my credit card and I am hoping that I can fix this. read more

I was headed out on a five hour drive home to New York when the mainline to the muffler dropped out of the bottom of my car - the noise was so loud it was impossible to drive. I thought I would be stuck in town for hours if not days. I'm so grateful this place was open, especially on thanksgiving weekend. Not only did the guys at O'Reilly / VIP Auto Repair take a look at the car within 5 minutes, they were able to patch up the muffler line for an quick interim solution that would get me home, and got it done in 15 minutes. Incredibly friendly, quick service, great honest guys. Can't recommend highly enough! read more

I have seen some postings of bad reviews but my 2 recent visits have been positive. The first was for 4 tires and mounting and balancing. The price was good (I shopped around), they made the appointment and I waited about 15 minutes they brought the car in and all went well, brought it back 2 days later and they retorqued the wheels. The second was yesterday during the messy snow day here. I had a drop in pressure in one tire and called them and they said bring it right in. I told them I also wanted a tire rotation. They brought it in found a screw in the tire, demounted, patched and balanced and remounted it for practially nothing. They also recommended i wait until spring to do the rotation for a reason I did not totally understand but the point was they did not try to upsell me on it or anything else. Also, patching a tire is more work than plugging and I have also seen some dealers say they can't repair a repairable tire so they frighten people into buying 1 or even 2 tires when not needed. Brice was the service manager and did not do any of that, even when he saw I had NY plates on the car and everyone knows it is hunting season all year long in NH when it comes to flat landers. read more

Went in on a Tuesday needing tires ...explained I have 245/40R19 runflat now and was trying to decide between snow tires vs all season, and runflat vs non-runflat. Jeremy talked it through with me and I decided on a set of non-runflat snow tires and made an appointment for Friday. So far so good. Went in on Friday and Tim tells me they can't install my tires because they don't have the right equipment to change a low profile (40) runflat. What a wast of time. read more

I would go literally anywhere but here. Especially if you're a female because they WILL try and fuck you for money. Went here to get my car fixed. They told me the alternator was bad, a cell in my battery blew out, and that my engine belt is fried. Told me it was gonna cost almost $2000. This place was only on my radar because they were the only ones opened on NYE and I needed to know what was wrong. Anyway, I didn't have the money and also I could tell something was up when they told me an alternator for my HONDA was gonna cost over $700.. pfffft. fuck that. i took it to a friends mechanic and they called me to say that it was only my battery sensor and would cost me $200 (they did my inspection too). I am so beyond happy that it wasn't at all what these fucking pigs at VIP told me. Save yourself the stress and money by completely bypassing these assholes :). Promex in Newport, NH or Top Gun automotive are the ways to go. One last time, fuck this place. read more

Pros-Good communication via email to schedule tire change appointment and that's where it ends. Con-Asked how much it would cost in email to have 4 tires mounted/balanced/and old tires disposed and was stated $100. Bill came to $116 upon picking up, then changed to $102. Picked up car, was charged for TPMS stems even though I brought new ones in. Told the large guy behind the counter and he took them off (no personality on him, no apology, just felt like this is a common task in attempt to sneak one past a customer). Drove to Newport and the TPMS light and warning comes on. Assume this was not reset. Sent a photo an email, no response. Once I got up to 60 mph+ I started to hear a flapping coming from the right rear. Pulled over to torque my wheels and my inner right rear plastic is cracked about 12". I wasn't that way the day before as I took off my snow tires and changed to my summer rims that were getting 4 tires mounted on. There was no cracks or flapping sounds the day before. Sent an email about the issue, of course no response. Poor service, poor service after the sale, the large guy behind the counter was not the friendliest of people. No integrity of the tech who cracked the inner wheel plastic to say it happened. Would not recommend anyone to go to this location. Go in for 4 tires to get mounted, leave with a cracked inner wheel over charged bill, either they did not do the relearn or one of the TMPS is faulty (even if they put my new ones in or not). The laugh for me was the pages of estimates I received for work to be done. Wheel Alignment, even though my local GMC/Buick dealer said it was fine on my last service. I need spark plugs. Hmm didn't know changing tires required taking off the ignition coils and pulling a spark plug? Then all 4 of my strut or shocks need to be replaced, even though the car just went through a safety inspection 2 weeks prior to be inspected. Very hard to believe anything stated from these estimates. Update 5-15-19. Did receive a response saying that the quote is based on 'manufacture recommendations. (This was only a response after I left a review on their website) Just a sad way to get people to fork out money on things that might have already been taken care of (like fuel system clean, but was told they don't pull the spark plugs?) This past weekend experienced a vibration in the front. Brought the car to my mechanic and come to find out the Left Front wheels lugs were loose). Never has that happened before, I did torque the wheels after 30 miles on the tire change at 100lbs. Between the TPMS light coming on (which I reset myself with adding/subtracting air), to attempting to be charged for TPMS sensor that I brought in, to a cracked inner wheel well, to a pretty bogus quote for work to be done based on 'manufacture recommendations', then to have a wheel loosen up on me, I would never recommend going to VIP. The most disappointing experience considering I just wanted 4 tires mounted. I have always used another local competitor and never have had any issues with their service. I would also like to add I had a coworker go there to have brakes done. Upon returning she had some vibration problems too. She was missing a lug nut, and they could not remember if her car came in with them all or not. You would think an initial inspection would jump out, hey this customer is missing a lug nut, lets note this on the paperwork. Go to a real shop, and not this under skilled shop. read more

I chose to get my winter tires changed back to summer tires the other day at this location. After them having taken my 2019 Toyota Tacoma into the shop to get started I was called over to the counter to go out back and hear a "maintenance recommendation" based off my trucks 16k miles. The man proceeded to tell me that my brand new truck should have it's differential fluid flushed and changed due to the maintenance recommendations based off the mileage. This is the definition of being a malicious technician trying to take advantage of a customer. I can only assume they try to convince most everyone that they are due for such maintenance. The cherry on top was they attempted to charge me for 4 new valve cores... in a brand new truck... that didn't have any tire leaking issues... especially not from a worn out valve core. These people will try and take you for a sucker period. The attached photo is what they show those that question their recommendation, here is their technical documentation that shows your vehicle is due for the maintenance they are recommending. A color graph that could be made by a child with absolutely no data. Do yourself a favor and avoid chains like this for tire changing needs. read more

On November 15, 2014 I had my seasonal tires switched to winter tires by VIP Auto Claremont, NH. Upon arrival to pick up the vehicle I noticed the rocker panel had three obvious dents where a too-large lift was used on the vehicle. When it was brought the staff's attention everyone was very apologetic, friendly and helpful; the staff and I took pictures together and they called the manager on the spot. Steve was away and I was told that he would call me within the day to sort out insurance information. Later that evening I was called by VIP and informed that I would need to bring my car into a body shop for an estimate. On Monday, November 18, I stopped at VIP Claremont to obtain Steve Ordway's fax information; he was extremely dismissive of me and kept walking away as I was trying to speak. Eventually I obtained his card and took the vehicle to Tom & Dales auto body. Tom & Dales performed the estimate and had it faxed to VIP by 1:00 p.m. November 18. On Friday, November 21'st, I received another call from the front counter woman informing me that the quote seemed too high and they'd like me to have their brand-new on-site body work do the job. I was very uneasy about that suggestion and made it known. The woman then informed me I would have to get a second estimate at "Chris Spanos' Auto" in Newport, NH. November 22'nd I went to Chris Spanos' Auto to obtain a second estimate and explained the situation to him. He then informed me it was illegal in the state of New Hampshire for them to tell me I needed to get a second quote, and if they ask it must be with the understanding that it is ultimately up to me to decide on the shop. Immediately on hearing that news I called VIP and finally was able to speak with Mr. Ordway, wherein he proceeded to tell me that the estimate seemed excessively high and "everyone at my shop agrees with me"..."it should only be a couple hundred dollars and a few days to repair". Still, no mention was made that I am only required to get an estimate from the shop of my choice where I would like the damages fixed. The tactics of the manager, Steve Ordway, in resolving this issue are of questionable legality and business practice. read more

Colin S. I have used Claremont's VIP services several times good success. The last snow tire change over I had trouble with the balancing of the tires. I had to bring my car into the dealership for other repairs and asked them if there was an issue with rims as this was second time VIP had balanced the snow tires. Accordingly, the dealership said that the tires were still waaaay out of balance. I called VIP to get a refund and the manager said he would refund the balancing. Going over today let's see if they will keep their word. Hopefully I am not going to have to write another review. On a employee shout out, Hans has always given great customer service. This place is the absolute worse place to get your car tires and service! They mostly sell tires and and they have yet been able to do tire service properly. The TPMS sensors need to be relearned on most vehicles. Yet they never do it and insist that the sensors will adjust instead of checking and making the customer happy. Now they insist on being paid $27 to relearn the sensors. Go to Tire Warehouse for good prices and great service. read more

I recently had to get a tire replaced here. They told me there was more wrong with my car and it would be 800$ to fix the first problem, and another 800$ for brakes, rotated, and calipers. That was without labor! I couldn't imagine how my car needed over 1600$ worth of work when all I came in for was a new tire!! My first mistake was trusting them with the first 800$ fix. As I sat in the waiting room for them to finish, they told the next 5 customers that they also had extremely expensive issues with their cars as well! I started to wonder if I was being taken advantage of and straight lied to. I took my car to another shop to check on the price of brakes rotated and calipers and with the labor they only charged me 400$!!!!! This place was basically trying to steal my money! I am so angry that I agreed to a line of credit with these thieves! I will pay this ridiculous bill and I will NEVER be going here again! I will be sure to tell anyone who will listen how awful they were. I am a blue collar hard working American, and I am completely DISGUSTED with this place they call a business! Please do yourselves a favor and look elsewhere for work on your car. In the end you won't be saving a little, it will be saving almost DOUBLE what theses people will try to charge you. I'm new to town and was told to go to VIP Discount Auto to get most of my services taken care of on my 2008 Toyota Tundra. I had a set of studded snow tires installed because it is now winter (12/19/2014). I had a 2:30pm appointment to get 4 tires installed. That should roughly take one to one and a half hours to complete. 3.5hrs after I showed up for my appointment, they still weren't complete. It took 4 hours to complete a simple tire swap. While installing the tires they broke my TPMS sensor, didn't tell me about it, and installed a TPMS sensor they were hoping was gonna work but is known to break within a day. I went back and confronted them, and had them order a new TPMS sensor for my truck. I finally came to get it installed and the manager said that it wasn't their problem. I told him that since they broke it and already ordered me the part, they were going to install it free of charge. He then took the part out and had them start installing. My tires are rated to work from 40psi to 80psi. I had to deflate them to 30psi because of a deep snow storm where I needed more traction. I asked him (the manager) to put the PSI of my tires back to 40 pounds, and he asked what the placard of my truck said. I told him that the tires were aftermarket and wouldn't match at placard. I then told him that I had been running them at 40 the entire time with no problem with my TPMS sensor light being on. He began to argue with me about the PSI of my tires and how that would trigger the TPMS sensor and that's probably why I'm having problems. I finally just shrug him off and waited for them to complete the work. Once the truck was returned the tires were 40 pounds and the TPMS light was off. I don't like businesses the treat you rudely and wrong, and also tell you that you don't know how to operate your own equipment. I will not be coming back here for service, they are very rude, they are slow, and they underestimate the knowledge of the customer. It's not a type of business that I want to be associated with. read more

Don't waste your time or money here. This place is fine for an oil change, they are quick and friendly. But they are not competent mechanics, and we always end up back in the shop within the year to replace parts which they installed incorrectly. This has happened three times with two different vehicles and we are DONE with VIP. First the tire rods were replaced on both vehicles - within a couple months we brought one vehicle back in to VIP for winter tires and THEY told us the tire rod needed replacing again. They honored their warranty of course, again very friendly. A few months later, same deal with the other vehicle's tire rod. Then they did our front breaks on one vehicle - when we took it for state inspection shortly after and were told the brakes were installed wrong and we should go back to get them fixed. We went back to VIP and they refused to do anything, they said the brakes were installed properly. Now exactly one year later (and past warranty) at our next state inspection, sure enough both front breaks (pads & rotors) need replacing because they were installed wrong and got uneven wear. SERIOUSLY don't bother with these guys. read more

Way overpriced, took my wife's 2012 Subaru Outback in for an inspection and was failed for according to the state inspection paper for back brakes. Was given an estimate for $510 to do the front brakes asked the guy behind the counter which it was and he told me he was 99.99 % sure it was the front brakes so I went into the auto parts place where they get their parts to get what I needed to do it myself and they were less then half actually way less then half the price. The next morning I started to do the work and the front brakes were fine so I went to different store and bought the parts for the back brakes I decided to do all the brakes and for almost $300 less than what they quoted me I did all 4 brakes, what a rip off. Another time I went there with my truck to change my summer tires to my winter ones and $700 something later I was on my way, really makes me wonder how much I was over charged that time, never again. read more

For the past 3 years I have gone to VIP for my annual car inspection. This year I was met at the counter by a tatoo'd freak who wanted to do anything but his job. After waiting for 10 minutes till he completed his paper work I was inform that I would have to wait 5 hours to have my car inspected. The bay's were empty as well as the parking lot so I'm not sure why the delay, I guess they have so much business they didn't need mine...I will never return again. read more
