Cat, the designer, was fantastic to work with--knowledgeable, responsive, and easy to communicate with. We were pleasantly surprised by how quickly we were able to get on the schedule, and at that point, we felt confident we had chosen the right company. Unfortunately, once the work began, it became clear that the quality of the initial installation was not acceptable. The shower pan did not drain properly, the original 20-year-old liner was not replaced, and there were a number of cut corners that raised serious concerns. It was disappointing, especially given the cost and our expectations going into the project. That said, what truly turned the experience around was how the company handled these issues. Aaron and Noah stepped in and responded in a very professional and accountable way. They took our concerns seriously and committed to making things right. A new crew was brought in, and the difference was night and day. The second crew was professional, efficient, and clearly took pride in their work. They redid the project properly, addressed all previous issues, and delivered a final result that we are genuinely happy with. While the process had its hiccups, the company's willingness to stand behind their work and correct mistakes restored our confidence. In the end, we are very pleased with the finished bathroom and appreciate the effort it took to get there.

I had ceiling mounted storage shelves, which are fine, but only can hold certain things and you need a ladder to access. I realized that I have a ton of unused space above the garage door and could have a mezzanine built up there that would work better than the ceiling shelves. I contacted Matt at Beach Handyman and explained what I wanted. He asked that I send a few pictures of what I was thinking and he would work the numbers/ideas. I also wanted to add an attic pull-down ladder to make access easier, which Matt was happy to accommodate. Within a day of sending over my thoughts, Matt had a quote ready (which was very reasonable for the work that needed to be done) and we signed a contract. Matt expected 1-2 days to complete which turned into 2+ days, but that was not Matt's fault due to encountering a large steel beam that he had to work around. I'm super happy with the final product, and it turned out better than expected. I will absolutely use Matt again for any future needs. He can pretty much do it all. He told me that he would have everything to keep my space clean before he started the job and he did not. This is why I used my own covering before he returned the next day. Matt failed to explain how he cut the wood too short and glued it back together without even mentioning it. Or the extra hole he drilled for a baluster that was left in the wood. Again, not professional. Not quality. To build your business, you have to just do quality work. Matt did contact me after I left the original review to get the carpet cleaned but I had already asked him to clean it before he finished the job. I am not in the business of having people in and out of my home. I hired him for carpentry not carpet cleaning. I honestly didn't trust that he wouldn't ruin it, which is why I did as much as I could myself. Whether it is blue chalk or white chalk, it didn't come out of my carpet and he put it there. My carpet was literally two weeks old and was in a room that we had not had the pleasure of moving into yet. As I shared previously, Matt is nice. Maybe he took on a job that he was not experienced with and we just happened to get the quality of a novice. Maybe he is better now. I don't know. This review was not personal. But rather a review of my experience with a business. Original: Matt completed work in our home some time ago. Unfortunately, it was done professionally. His measurements were off, he was not very clean, and he ruined my brand new carpet. I think Matt is a nice person but I would have also preferred that he work under our agreed terms and he did not. When I hired him on a phone call, he promised that he would protect my home from dust and paint. That was not the case.

The salesman at Floor Trader helped us select a carpet and nobody else came close to the total price Floor Trader gave us for the carpet and installation. The fee they charge for measurement is a bit discouraging but they credit this to the purchase price. The installation crew did an excellent job, they were on time, they removed all the old flooring, took care with our furniture, and put everything back in its proper place and finished the job in one day. We were very pleased with the experience and very happy with our new carpets.

It was not Floor Trader who showed up. They subcontracted us to someone else, who I was unable to communicate with due to a language barrier. I don't care where people are born, okay, but I would like to be able to communicate with people who are working in my home so that if there is an issue we can both understand what is happening! One of the gentleman spoke spotty English (certainly better than my Spanish, which is nil.) so we were able to work through the fact Floor Trader did not tell him that furniture movement was necessary, or that he would have to cut around the cabinets because the current floor extended underneath them. Or that there was damage to be fixed to the subfloor in the kitchen where tile removal had unlevelled the area. If I had been able to speak to them however, I would have also expressed the fact that there are soft spots in the new floor. Places that bow when I walk on them. In less than a month, the quarter round came off in once place where they had brad nailed into thin air, and a few months later the entire piece under the front door came loose. Where it is still attached it is hideous because the caulking job done between it and the baseboard looks like a child smeared sugar cake icing and let it dry - thick, jagged lines. Why didn't I take these complaints to Floor Trader directly you ask? #1, because I was 8 months pregnant and TIRED. But #2, because, ONCE THEY HAD MY MONEY THEY NEVER REACHED OUT TO ME AGAIN. Not to confirm that someone showed up to do the work. Not to confirm that the work was done. Not to ask about progress, and certainly never to do a "how did it go?" questionnaire. Not once. No Email. No Text. No Call. Probably the only reason they knew the install was happening was because the men on site kept having to call their own boss who would call Floor Trader to confirm things they should have already been told (like the furniture removal requirement). The guys were amazingly silent though. No stereo, no phone calls, no earbuds. And it was HOT but they never complained. I offered to set up a fan for them, but they declined. I think maybe it would have blown around too much dust? Oh, and we are missing the threshold we paid for. It's not one I cared about as it was leading into a closet, but the point is it was on the schematic. Anyway, would not recommend.
