I didn't WANT to make the long trip out to Annandale after an agonizing workday…read more.. But it was worth the drive. After years of condescending doctors looking down their noses while chucking multitudes of medicines at me for my low back and sciatic pain , I was nearly at my wit's end. However, the moment Dr. Gorsen walked into the evaluation room to greet me, I felt like someone was finally in my corner. He had a jovial tone (although he took me seriously), read my chart thoroughly, reviewed my MRI's extensively, let me speak without cutting me off, actually LISTENED, and fully processed what I had to say before responding. I can tell when a doctor enjoys his work by his bedside manner, and this doctor has a stellar one. While he's extremely busy (engaged in various side projects, inventions, and work with sports injury patients), Dr. Gorsen still took his time with me, didn't make me feel rushed, did make me feel comfortable, and managed to quickly devise and explain to me several prospective lines of attack to get to the root of my suffering. He patiently conveyed what I didn't understand in lay terms, and even offered an interim solution between now and the next time I would follow up with him - going back and forth several times to his supply room, working with me to find just the right sized back brace, and educating me on how to use it. If a guy this busy can manage to have a good humor, patience, and sympathy for his patients, the rest of you cocky doctors with atrocious people skills running patient mills should be ashamed. Additionally, the staff was pleasant, the office wasn't crowded with over-booked patients, and I've definitely had longer waits. Because of Dr. Gorsen, for the first time in three years, the light at my tunnel's end doesn't just seem like a freight train. He may or may not be able to help see me back to restored health; but at the very least, he HAS offered two very important things to me which no other doctor has bothered to even attempt thus far - and those are sincerity and hope. He has accrued an array of accolades over the years, and I can see why. I would recommend this neurosurgeon to anyone - near or far.

I had an excellent experience during my first visit to this clinic. Dr. Henn was recommended by my…read morerheumatologist. As she mentioned he was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and had outstanding bedside manner. He took the time to listen, explained everything in a way that was easy to understand during the exam and made me feel completely at ease. What stood out most was the flexibility and thoughtfulness in discussing treatment options and next steps--I never felt rushed and truly felt included in the decision-making process. It's rare to find a provider who combines expertise with genuine compassion. I'm very grateful for such a positive first visit and would highly recommend this practice. Everyone from the front desk personnel, his administrative staff, the x-ray technician, then his shadowing residents x2 were great. I visited the 20th st location but will visit Georgetown due to ease of transport.

Dear GT Medstar Medical Team,…read more My name is Sheila Westerfield and I was an in-patient at your hospital from October 25 through October 30, 2024. I must apologize because this email thank you is a very long time coming, however, I have been working on my recovery and PT. I wanted to thank each of you for your amazing care both medically, physically and emotionally as your team and you guided me through my recovery period at the hospital during my stay. From the excellent medical care and advice that was given to me both pre op hip replacement surgery to post op surgery, Dr. Park, I must say you are the BEST! I am so grateful that you are and were my surgeon involved in my care from the day I came to you for consultation, during and after my surgery and your excellent follow up and care! Your attentiveness to my requests and care will always be appreciated with deep gratitude. You also possess an amazing beside manner. I grew up in a family of physicians from my grandfather, uncle and brother -- so I am quite familiar with the quality of care that can be given to a patient -- not just medically, but the overall support emotionally that makes an outstanding doctor like yourself stand out from the rest. Thank you! Secondly and not really secondly, the amazing care that I received from the nursing staff, your staff, Dr. Park -- your resident, the physical therapists, nurse techs, the client care experience staff and down to the young man who cleaned my room twice a day and the food services staff, I remain extremely grateful. The quality of care and attention and kindness and compassion of all of the staff mentioned above (the names are listed below) -- I hope that I didn't leave anyone out, please know how fabulous you all are and I am grateful that you chose the medical profession because you are exactly where you belong. You all have huge hearts and exude patience and devotion to the career you chose. It is my hope that the director's of GT Medstar and your immediate supervisors and managers will have the opportunity to see this email. Because I don't have access to their emails, I am hopeful that this email will be forwarded to each -- from the president/ceo at GT, the head of the surgical orthopedics department, the head of nursing and patient experience department, director of physical therapy, food services and the janitorial department. I am healing quickly -- walking sometimes without a cane and having no difficulty navigating my 14 steps (LOL). All of this is due to the excellent care that each of you provided me and your encouragement each step of the way. The qualities that each of you possess are those that each person who has to undergo surgery or just a stay at the hospital prays for!!!! I know for certain as I am a praying "gal" who when my eyes open I am prayerful and thankful and before they close my prayers and gratefulness are repeated to my God -- and, what I can say is that HE answered my prayers, for TRUE!!!!! I wish each of you all of the BLESSINGS that God has in store for each of you and your families. I know that each day that you come to work, you are BLESSING yet many more patients! Thank you again. I will continue to keep each of you close to my heart and in my prayers. Tomorrow, my plan is to post this on Google!!!!!!! Blessings. With much thanks, Sheila H. The care I received from Dr. Steven S. Hughes, MD, was excellent. Two years after my surgery, I…read morereturned to see him due to a new discomfort I was experiencing in the upper right side of my back. He immediately ordered X-rays, blood work, and an MRI, and then referred me to a specialist, ruling out a cervical issue, which I initially suspected. I was very satisfied to see the genuine interest and dedication he shows toward each of his patients. I observed how carefully he reviewed my X-rays and ordered the necessary studies to fully understand my condition. At my follow-up appointment, I had the opportunity to be seen by his PA, Jennifer Leeman, PA-C, who performed additional tests in the office, consulted with Dr. Hughes, referred me to a neurologist, and ordered additional blood tests to further evaluate elevated lab results. I 100% recommend these healthcare professionals. They are extremely professional and care for their patients as if they were members of their own family. From the bottom of my heart, I am truly grateful to Dr. Hughes and Jennifer Leeman.

This review pertains to the Fairfax office and my experience with the organization and not Dr…read moreHughes Himself! I saw him for the first tome few weeks back and i thought he was caring enough to listen and despite some of the negative review about his bedside manner i felt he was attentive enough. So he sent me for CT and MRI and told me to book the follow up with his nurse Jennifer since its the fastest way to get an appointment and he added " but I will be there as well"so i did and went to the fairfax to discuss my results... i was called in pretty quickly and the assistant who is clearly unqualified to work there asks me if i am pregnant or done either my periods... what? I am over 60 then she takes my pressure and tells me its 69 over 40 ... i asked her again and she said you haven't had breakfast thats why'! Really? The nurse took it again and it was the normal range as i expected. Then comes to my results obviously she had not even looked at them or discuss them with the doctor reading what the radiologist written snd briefly looking at the images and giving me what i could read myself . Very disappointed because i had questions that were not answered by the doctor who i paid to see because he never came in as he said he would. I dont think discussing results should be done with a nurse who clearly not an expert in imaging or diagnosis. I got nothing out of this visit so waste of my money and time and still dont know what really is causing my issues. Oh and the ladies at check out need to be politer and nicer either way the patients.
