The owner Justin was great to work with, communicated almost daily, and stopped by the house frequently to check on the progress of the work and answer any questions or concerns I had. Selvin the team lead is a true craftsman, knows his stuff, and clearly takes pride in the quality of his work. Others on the team worked equally hard and they have all been with Calabrese for at least 10 years. We converted two rooms plus a hallway into a master suite as well as split two large upstairs rooms into three. We had structural concerns and lots of logistics to work out and I wouldn't trust anyone other than Mike to draw up the plans to make sure everything is safe and up to code. Al oversaw the projects and was in constant communication with us and regularly was on site to make sure everything was going smoothly. If anything wasn't 100% correct or what we had discussed, he would make sure it was remedied. Big shout out to Franz who even showed up to work the day after his wife had a baby! The M3 team worked late days and on weekends (with our consent) to meet their deadlines, even when the county held them up with permitting issues they still worked hard to finish within our timeframe. We even made major changes to our plans after construction had begun and they were able to pivot and help us get more square footage for the upstairs bedrooms. There were also numerous curveballs that they handled with ease (ya never know what you'll get with an old house). This was our first time doing any sort of large project and the team at M3 gave us plenty of guidance and support to make sure the finished product exceeded our expectations. We used KDC to renovate our Kitchen, Master Bathroom, and fix some other issues around the house that involved tiling, plumbing, drywall, etc. We first started with KDC on the kitchen, where we had them install all new countertops, and replace our cabinets, basically a whole kitchen renovation. They handled everything and had people for plumbing, tiling, painting, electrical. Everything was handled for us with minimal involvement other than picking out materials. It was one of the easiest experiences where we picked out what we wanted in their showroom and had their project manager coming to the house to review progress on a consistent basis. With how smoothly the kitchen went, we had KDC fix our guest bathroom where things went just as smooth, and then do a whole renovation of the master bathroom. Similarly, we picked out all of the materials in their showroom and the results were amazing. The quality and craftsmanship is very detailed, with new cabinets, tiling, moving different fixtures to new locations, and installation of everything flawlessly. They even alerted us to a cheaper countertop option that still met our needs. All in all, it seems like KDC worked on half the house and did some in a timely and expert way. We had an excellent experience from start to finish. We moved into our home nearly 9 years ago with a completely unfinished basement, and we were ready to build our dream basement. We first contacted a contractor that we had previously used and whose work we were happy with but as circumstances would have it and several months later with no progress, we parted ways with him and began our search for someone new. After scouring the internet and reading multiple reviews, we decided on our top 3 companies to interview. In the end, we decided on Langley, and we are so happy we chose them. From the very beginning, you feel like a valued customer. They responded promptly to my initial inquiry and later that evening we were talking to UE, the president of the company, about our project. UE was very friendly, patient, and transparent about how their company works and explained in detail their process from the design to the construction. We knew what we wanted in our basement, but it was the design where we most needed direction. When UE first came out to our house, he spent more time than any of the other contractors we had interviewed going over our project and taking measurements, photos and video of our basement. He promised one of his designers would be contacting us in a couple of weeks because they were finishing up other projects; however, Pinar, our designer, reached out to us within a week and immediately guided us, inquiring about our interests and style. She gave suggestions on how best to communicate our interests like sending her pictures and/or setting up a Pinterest board, which worked well for us. Throughout the design process, Pinar was patient, creative, and a pleasure to work with. If we had different thoughts about her rendering, she would be open to our ideas and would incorporate them into her design. Construction began very soon after we agreed on the design and contract details. Our project manager Starlyn and assistant project manager Kenia were very professional and pleasures to work with. Starlyn was very patient with us and was at our job site practically every day making sure progress was moving along. As first-time customers and since the project was quite large, we were naturally a bit stressed about how things would go, but Starlyn was patient and understanding, and he would address all our questions or concerns as they came up. All the construction workers were Langley employees from the carpenters, plumbers, painters and electricians. We really did not interact with them too much but when we did, they too were very polite and professional. At the end of every day, my wife and I would look at the progress, and we could tell they were very skilled due to the quality in the craftsmanship. The design phase did take some time, but it was time very well spent. Once we finalized the design, everything moved at a great pace, and the execution was smooth and well coordinated. I did not have a good experience at all with this company. First, they changed project managers on…read moreme just before they came out to do that work without explanation. When the work started, they moved at a glacier pace with erratic attendance. There were days they did not show up at all, other days they would show up unexpectedly at 7am, and leave at 10am. This was never communicated with me. Next, mistakes started happening. They painted the walls the wrong color. They put up the shower door on the wrong side. They also put up the window blind backwards so I couldn't reach or use the rod to open and close it. After the shower door went up backwards, the project manager fired the workers, but the had no one to finish the work. When they finally came back to fix the shower tiles wrecked when the door went up on the wrong side, they didn't align the replacement tile patterns with each other so the pattern is disjointed and doesn't line up at all. The project manager told me it's not supposed to line up!? After complaining about it 3 times, they finally offered to replace the tiles. But they stalled on ordering them and now it's out of stock. There are also other problems - the shower faucets are not properly secured to the shower walls, the vanity light is separating from the wall and the light switch fixture is also separating from the wall. The floor tile is irregular with grout lines sometimes thick in places, other times nonexistent. Currently, they are not returning my calls or texts. I've even reached out to the owner who came out and promised to fix everything, but commented that I was overly concerned with "small" details. Now he has not returned my calls or texts about when he will come to fix things. Maybe I am concerned with details but I'd think that is common when paying 20k to have a bathroom redone according to an approved plan. At the very least, I expected that shower tile patterns would match up and that things would be well grouted or secured in shower and on walls. This was my first renovation in my first home and I'm so disappointed in how it turned out and how I was treated by the team. Also, this 2 week project took 5 and 1/2 weeks to get to where it is now. Overall the project was done carelessly with no attention to detail and with no acceptance of their mistakes and no attempt to repair the problems identified. I see they have had good reviews in the past, but my project did not go well at all. I would definitely recommend choosing another company. When I first complained they asked me not to write a bad review and I said that along as everything was fixed we had a deal. Nothing has been fixed and they are not communicating with me. I know have to either pay another company more money to fix their mistakes or take legal action to resolve the simple issues that could be easily fixed. If detail and having a project done to your liking is important I would not recommend H&C at all.

I wanted work completed by next Thursday 5/14) 8:00 AM his guys arrived and started removing rotted wood under sills (HOA request). We provided original paint. They painted all trim (not just updated sills) to ensure matching exterior. There was a hitch with the electrical work, but they were patient and worked with us to determine an acceptable solution. They fixed the drywall in the basement (then re-opened and fixed again after the electrical solution was determined). All was completed for the original estimate price. I would definitely hire again.
