This review is long overdue, but I've been meaning to share our wonderful experience with Al, Mike and their team on the multiple projects they completed for our old, complex house. We converted two rooms plus a hallway into a master suite as well as split two large upstairs rooms into three. We had structural concerns and lots of logistics to work out and I wouldn't trust anyone other than Mike to draw up the plans to make sure everything is safe and up to code. Al oversaw the projects and was in constant communication with us and regularly was on site to make sure everything was going smoothly. If anything wasn't 100% correct or what we had discussed, he would make sure it was remedied. Big shout out to Franz who even showed up to work the day after his wife had a baby! The M3 team worked late days and on weekends (with our consent) to meet their deadlines, even when the county held them up with permitting issues they still worked hard to finish within our timeframe. We even made major changes to our plans after construction had begun and they were able to pivot and help us get more square footage for the upstairs bedrooms. There were also numerous curveballs that they handled with ease (ya never know what you'll get with an old house). This was our first time doing any sort of large project and the team at M3 gave us plenty of guidance and support to make sure the finished product exceeded our expectations. We decided to give them a try despite some reviews stating that this company led them on so the lady came out for a consultation and took measurements, along with a video. I asked what cabinet distributors they used and she couldn't give me a name, she said they use many. I then asked what the difference would be between getting a particular cabinet color (not knowing what my options were or what would be in stock without a company name), and she said custom vs semi custom are just words and that it's all pretty much custom so it wouldn't make a difference. Upon asking a few more questions, she proceeded to tell me "I'm not sure if you saw, but our company has almost a 5-star review and that's almost unheard of". I didn't know what to make of it, but considering what some of their reviews mentioned, I felt as though we were going to get the same treatment. She said she'd get back to me by Friday with a quote and a visual of the kitchen updates-- it was Tuesday that day. We gave her a call that Friday afternoon to follow up and she insisted that the cabinet company was taking a while and that she'd get back to us by Monday the latest if not over the weekend. We waited and got nothing so my husband called her the following Wednesday without ever hearing from her. She continued to reassure us that she hasn't forgotten about us and that she'd get back to us by Monday for sure. It's now been 21 days and we got no updates or any communication from them. It's clear that this is a pattern for them and I'd advise someone looking to get work done by someone reliable and honest to look elsewhere. read more

My husband and I bought a fixer upper 4 years ago and knew we would have to gut the kitchen (expensive) , so when the time finally came we were very particular about who we hired. We interviewed 8 (!) other contractors before finally hearing about M3 through the guy who redid our foyer. Instantly I knew we had found our guy. Offered great suggestions? Check. Listened to us? Check. Easy to work with? Check. Same guys showing up every day to work on your project? Check. (This one was huge for us as we knew we wouldn't be living in our home while it was being remodeled and we wanted to know who had access to our home.) We hired M3 last summer to renovate our 3 full bathrooms and a powder room. They did an excellent job. We reconfigured and redesigned the main bathroom. I have worked with M3 Renovations for 5 or 6 years now; spanning two residences and have been 100% satisfied with every project. Our latest project was a kitchen remodel. From adding a giant island to creating long stacked stone feature wall, Mike and his team not only executed my plans beautifully, they were able to give me recommendations for improvement (which I took and was glad I did) and also provided alternative solutions which saved me money. For example, I didn't like my cabinets, there was a dark gap at the top that went all the way around, they were very cookie cutter...rather than spend upwards of $15k to replace the cabinets, Mike recommended crown above to take the cabinets up to the ceiling and molding on the bottom to finish off the ugly edges. VERY happy with the results. Collaboration between Mike's team, Pella (for new windows and doors) and the wood floor installers was also important in this project as things had to be done a certain way/order and Mike was there to talk with them for me and give special instructions that were key to everything fitting together properly. I've had my new kitchen for a few months now and have gotten compliments from everyone that's seen it. Will definitely have M3 back for my next project. Also, I might have been okay with that response, had I not looked on Yelp and seen reviews from people living in Arlington like myself, Alexandria and even as far as Washington, DC- both of which are further out than me! I also asked for recommendations for someone closer to me and he was unable to provide. Mike is amazing! My husband and I woke up last week to a leak in our kitchen ceiling coming from our master bath. We called a plumber who essentially just guessed where it might be coming from. He caulked the drain and said if that didn't work we'd have to rip up our shower floor for the tune of $1600 to assess the problem. Unfortunately the water spot kept growing and we decided to get a second opinion as we weren't prepared for a bathroom remodel. We heard about M3 from a neighbor who had seen one of their jobs and we contacted Mike and the first time he came by he spent three hours with us explaining the entire process. He was very helpful in guiding us to the right vendors and making the correct decisions regarding the remodeling of our kitchen. Mike was always available for any questions and supportive as we worked our way through the process. When construction began, Kevin and Javier were terrific to work with. They were easy-going, patient, and very skilled. They were not content with doing a good job, but wanted to make sure everything was exactly perfect. Their typical response to any questions or concerns we had was "whatever you like" or "whatever makes you happy". We have a very large kitchen and they were able to get the job done in a little over one month. These guys did a great job on a full gut and remodel of our master bathroom. We took down walls, re-routed plumbing and vents, and replaced a tub with a custom glass shower. Always on time and always called back promptly when I had questions. The same two guys did all of the work(other than electrical) and they covered everything and kept the house clean over the two week window they were working. We used M3 Renovations to perform a fairly sizable kitchen renovation that involved new flooring (wood & tiling), cabinetry, counters, appliances, lighting, service movement (electrical, water, gas, and HVAC), window expansion, removal of a wall, and drywall/painting. This was our first major project so we naturally were very cautious, took our time, and had lots of questions along the way. Mike and his team were fantastically supportive right from the first encounter and patiently worked with us on ideation, design, and recommendations for vendors for things that they could not directly do (like floors, counters, and masonry). Mike's cabinet partner, Rich, has a wonderful design sense and worked through multiple revisions of the design with us while also being extremely helpful in terms of providing opinions and suggestions whose value we realized in the finished product. The project itself went extremely smoothly. Mike and his team were meticulous in their work and were always great about consulting with us for preferences, answering questions, and making suggestions for improvements. Their attention to detail was fantastic and you could tell that they are craftsmen who take pride in their work rather than trying to meet some minimal bar just to get the job done quickly. We contacted several bathroom remodeling and restoration companies in Fairfax County. M3 came out the same day we contacted them and provided a competitive proposal within 24 hours. The most important thing I can say about M3 is that we're already planning on using them for another project next year. We had a large job that included a complete kitchen rebuild, a new mudroom being built into the garage, fixing walls, painting, all new floors, a new foyer, etc. The guys are great, the work is impeccable and they finished ahead of schedule. After designs were drawn, Contractor #1 would not let us see it until we signed a contract. Contractor #2 let us see his design at his office on a computer with state of the art technology that was able to rotate to view from every angle. Rich, the cabinet salesman and designer that Mike had us work with gave us hand drawn plans plus drawings that showed the way the kitchen would look from various angles. We loved being able to keep the drawings. We looked at them every day, imagining how the kitchen would look. We eliminated Contractor #1. We didn't feel comfortable signing a contract without actually seeing a plan. Contractor #2 had more years experience, and was highly rated on Angie's List. We were leaning toward them. When the time came to make a final decision, we still had a few questions. Contractor #2 did not follow up. Mike and Rich were very attentive and answered all of our questions. We felt comfortable with the thought that all of our questions would be answered, and that Mike and Rich were seriously interested in our business. We went with M3. Rich worked with us to get the design exactly as we wanted. He took a lot of time showing us all of the options for cabinets. A more expensive cabinet happened to be on sale for a certain window of time, but before our renovation was to begin. Rich pointed it out to us, and we were able to get top of the line cabinets for a reasonable price, and have them sent when we were ready. Rich has a wealth of experience in the cabinet and kitchen business. He made suggestions for counter top and hardware to consider. All of his ideas were helpful and made sense for the kitchen. Rich has a keen eye for design and structure. Once the demolition and construction began, Mike and crew were at our house promptly each day, worked as a team the whole day, and cleaned up thoroughly before leaving. Mike had suggestions as we went along for how to address specific issues (type of backsplash to consider, what type of corner to have for granite countertop, alignment of the pendant lights, and more). Mike has a real eye for style and knows what works. His suggestions were always great. Mike also pays attention to every detail, and will not consider his work done until all of the details are taken care of. We have had several experiences with contractors over the years, but we have never been so completely satisfied with the workmanship, quality, honesty and reliability of M3. I'm writing this review because I believe in M3. Mike is a good guy, smart and focused. He runs his company like I would run a construction firm -- that is, he is a hands-on owner who works alongside his crew and so supervises directly. That setup is the best for quality assurance. So I have absolutely no doubts about their quality workmanship. However, he was a lot more ambitious with ideas for our remodel than our budget would allow, yet we also never received an actual quote verbally or written. Honestly, that sealed my decision. He was kinda feeling us out I suppose, and I can't blame him for trying to inspire us. But in the end I thought money would be the issue. Not only is he wonderful at what he does - which is nearly everything when it comes to home improvements, but his crew is friendly and knowledgeable and he is genuinely a nice guy! I could not be happier with the job M3 did on my project. From the timely estimate to the finished project, Mike has proven to be skilled, professional and attentive. I called Mike to build a knee wall and install a cabinet to replace an old iron railing between my living room and dining room. The project took a day and a half and he showed up on time each day, stayed on site working with his employee, put in over an 8 hour day, and cleaned up the area before leaving. I think I was most impressed that he took the time to go over what was done, what he still needed to finish, and to make sure I was getting the finished product I expected. I was recently in a bind when a previous contractor caused a master bathroom leak that caused the flooring to be removed for remediation. Mike gave me a quote to re-tile the floor in a timely manner, and was able to fit us in on short notice between his other jobs. They were quick, professional and did a great job. Mike was very responsive over email and phone, and provided regular updates.I would definitely use M3 Renovations again when I'm in the market for a repair or a larger remodeling job.
