For example, the county electrical inspector commented that KBB's electrician had completed "one of the best wiring jobs he had ever seen." KBB constructed for me a very large library, a large entertainment room, a bedroom, and the associated hallways and connecting rooms. The project involved all major aspects of home improvement, except plumbing (HVAC, painting, flooring, electrical, building). I am completely satisfied with all aspects of KBB's work.

This Leesburg location is by far 100 times better in service. The displays are clean and prominent. You can get your step goals here if you are walking the aisles looking for the ideal floor, tile, vanity and backsplash. Staff is super friendly. Even in the early morning hours, a cashier is friendly and greets us. A special shout out to the designer, Amy. She has helped us twice in the past week. She has an eye for style and can help with the trends. She walked the aisles with us showing us the various tiles and decor. It's a simple process to get a quote on everything you want so you can walk away with a product quote. Highly recommend this location. Watch out HD and Lowe's.

My husband and I are renovating our guest and kids' bathrooms, and Amy was truly fantastic to work with. She was patient, thoughtful, and really creative, and she quickly understood what I was going for--something elevated but still within a budget. She had seen me working with other designers in the store before and clearly picked up on my style and preferences. Amy helped me find beautiful marble along with really complementary floor and niche tiles at great prices, and she even helped make some deals work. She genuinely has a great eye and comes up with tile combinations that feel intentional and a little different. Bryce was also great. After a frustrating earlier experience where a designer didn't send me my designs and then left the job--wasting time and setting things back--Bryce went out of his way to help turn that experience around. He was kind, responsive, and very focused on making sure I walked away feeling good about the store and my experience. He also helped make pricing work on some closeout tiles, which I really appreciated. I've spent at least six or seven hours in this store over the past few weeks, and everyone I interacted with was helpful and pleasant. If you're looking for strong design help, good pricing, and people who genuinely care about customer experience, this location is absolutely worth visiting.

But once we scheduled the appointment with CKB, lots of other projects popped up with our old, new house: knocking pipes when the hot water is on, an old fireplace mantle with water damage behind it, a wall-mounted tv that the previous owners stuck right into flammable insulation. But it didn't matter! Quinn, Cherie, and Carlos completed our whole list within ONE WEEK and within our budget. The team painted everything from ceilings to baseboards and covered up the previous yellow and navy blue paint! They completely replaced the damaged drywall behind our brick fireplace and installed a new electrical outlet for the wall mounted tv, in addition to adding fireproof insulation! And they fixed our knocking pipes by cutting into our walls and spray foaming around the culprits. Totally professional and on time every day. It was great! Can't wait to have them back to renovate our old bathrooms.

So, when we had a water…read moreleak resulting in moderate water damage to 1/4 of the basement and some insurance proceeds, we decided to contact CK&B to revisit the basement layout and modernize things a bit. Primary emphasis was a layout that could evolve over time and recapturing some floorspace. Start to finish was 3-4 weeks. This included tearing out popcorn ceiling, wiring in ~11 new recessed lights, new flooring, new kitchenette, small updates to a guest bathroom, painting all the things (including a chalkboard 1/3 wall) and a redesigned fascia for our fireplace. It also included a "secret room" for the kiddo that Quinn took on as a personal project, as we've been juggling complex medical issues for a few years. Needless to say that resulted in a lot of smiles and it has been getting a ton of use. The plywood in the secret room is 3/4" and we plan to add some rock climbing grips to it in the future. Pearl and Monica were easy to communicate with and any issues (ex: some painting needed to be revisited) were handled promptly. They were very flexible with pricing and really went out of their way to make this work for us. I'm deeply appreciative of the work they did for our child and the flexibility they demonstrated with some of my last-minute design tweaks. This is an easy recommend from me.

This was our first time dealing with a major home issue, and navigating insurance, contractors, and conflicting opinions felt overwhelming and stressful. I spoke with several contractors and received multiple estimates, but Alan stood out immediately. He was the first to respond and the first to give clear, straightforward, and honest answers. Beyond that, Alan is genuinely such a fun and easygoing person to work with, which made a stressful situation feel much more manageable. All showcase quality IMO. Thus, we've plenty of recent experience with KBS outfit and feel confident in making the highest recommendation. In summary - KBS is not too big nor too small, not too expensive but not cheap, so they were just right for us - average homeowners who seek the very best value. In this regard, KBS was just right. Some highlights........ 1) The crew is experienced and cohesive. They've been together for a good long time. They work well together and we never observed inefficiency. They just work hard all day long. 2) I never had to worry about workers in our home. Honest, polite, professional, kind, and responsive are words I'd use to describe them. 3) Communications were timely and valuable. My advice is to take notes of every communication for reference. In one case we forgot it was our responsibility to acquire an appliance. Uh oh, it was our fault and a written record would have been useful to refer to. Yikes! 4) The budget estimates were honored. there was no bait and switch. Prices were transparent to us. 5) We enjoyed reviewing recommended selections of cabinets, floor, hardware, appliances, sinks etc. Today, we feel somewhat knowledgeable with KBS as our tutors. 6) Cleanup and construction debris was timely. Thanks! 7) The crew was OK with our two dogs. I think our doggies missed them when the jobs were done. Final note: The sign of a great contractor is NOT that nothing goes wrong. Rather it is how the contractor responds when something does go wrong. In this regard, KBS took care of problems I was not even aware of, and when I was, they swarmed to make it right ASAP. For example, a quartz kitchen countertop cracked. Surprised. The piece was faulty. The crack was not due to poor installation. We only had to make one call to Dan who took care of it. Easy peasy. No hassles or haggles about responsibility or cost. Perfect. I've a few more impressive examples. So the more work we observed, the more confident we became in KBS. In my life "trust" is earned and hard to achieve in the contracting world. So, it is with pleasure to say KBS was trusted. We'd hire them again whenever we have a future need. Simply excellent!

I have purchased almost every piece of furniture in my home from the Guest Room and will continue to do so. No gimmicky salespeople, they aim to please and are NEVER pushy. Be sure to stop in when they are having one of their floor sample sales. We have saved some $$$ this way. This is the only place near the Shenandoah Valley where I have found reasonably priced furniture with a European flair. All of their furniture is of the highest quality. The store looks very unassuming from the front. It's in a small building right off of Route 7 with an Amish buggy sitting out front. It shares its space with another furniture store with very boring pieces (mostly oak) from my parents' era.

I want to be fair to the crew that painted my home and give 3 stars for them alone. They worked…read moretirelessly 7 days a week. Nothing to fault there. The owner, Rick, however doesn't stand by his commitments or quality. One star for answering texts, but truthfully his communication veers into the unprofessional. They painted my exterior first. I had asked for an interior bid after my exterior was complete and Rick complied. We agreed on a date in March to start. He came back after and offered to start almost immediately due to a cancelation but we were traveling and needed another week or so. All was fine until he did not show. I emailed. He gave me the run around. A few days went by... I have to put my dog in daycare while this painting is happening and I needed a firm date. Rick finally explained that he took a bigger job and didn't know when he would start. I was okay with waiting a bit, but he just disappeared. No communication, nothing. Today I noticed some exterior paint peeling *not even 6mos old* and contacted Rick. Instead of just saying ok, sure, lemme look at it/end of story, he added it wasnt"his fault" because apparently I didn't replace enough wood from my porch. Rick was rarely on site during this 3 week project only coming by to get checks. My trusted carpenter and Rick walked my home prior to beginning and determined what needed to be replaced. I spent several thousand above and beyond the paint cost (which came in over budget) doing as they both advised on wood repairs. I'm not an expert...I relied on Rick to drive that part of the project. Instead it was implied that I was being cheap and that Rick took no responsibility. I was honestly shocked at his communication. Again, this paint job.was almost 20k and less than 6 mos old. Communication broke down further (dont know if i can post his actual texts which i have and are unhelpful , defensive and dramatic) I got a lecture about his schedule and my blaming him for needing to "feed his crews families" (huh? I did no such thing. I merely said he didn't show up as agreed. Which is true.) Instead of insisting he stand by his work, (which he reminded me he's done for 32 years as though that excused his rudeness) I prefer not to deal with him again and instead warn others. Perhaps he's having a rough time personally. I certainly wouldn't have him on any other jobs right now. His crew work hard and hopefully will find a lot of admirers. I did get another company for my interior job and will be happy to review after it's done.

My wife and I are so happy with the work Justin and his crew did for us. We had three bathrooms retiled with one being a complete remodel and another spray foam insulated/re-drywalled. We also had our new nursery insulated for sound. We were under a time crunch to have all this completed in a month before our new addition arrived. We were guessing the work would take a month but Justin estimated it would only take two and a half weeks. I was a little skeptical as i know there are always unforeseen issues which are found when you start a project and start opening up walls. I am pleased to say they had all projects completed faster than that and had it done in two weeks even after running into an unexpected plumbing issue requiring an extra day of running new copper water lines and opening up the ceiling below the bathroom to gain access to the plumbing under the tub. The most important and hard to find aspect however was that Justin's crew was extremely clean and punctual. They always vacuumed when they were done for the day and ensured there was nothing for my 3 year old to "play with". Quite honestly if it wasn't for the protective plastic they placed on the carpet; we wouldn't have known they were even there. Justin's crew also must have been parked around the corner as the door bell would pretty much ring with in seconds of the agreed upon start time and they would stay late to finish up something they were in the middle of rather than leaving it for the next day. I have use many contractors in the past and there cleanliness, punctuality and attention to detail is unmatched. We will be using them for many more years to come. read more

I've had a lot of work done on my home since I moved in many, many years ago. I've worked with several contractors, some for needs and some for improvements, and it's pretty easy to pick out the great ones. Calabrese Home Improvement is one of the great ones. I worked with them originally to paint the interior of my house, including painting honey oak cabinets white, and was extremely pleased with the outcome. The painters were very respectful of my house and thorough in their work. The company also managed unexpected schedule changes I had with grace. My house hadn't been painted in a very long time and there were a lot of repairs needed. The owner, Justin, took time to go through every room with me and answer all my questions (and more questions, and more...). After the painting was done, Justin made sure any minor follow-ups we found during the walkthrough were completed quickly. Because of the quality of their work, they've also been my go-to contractor for other needs I've had crop up around the house since then. They are quick and responsive, and Justin is easy to work with. I am so glad I found them and am planning to use their services again in the near future for renovations, as well. I've enjoyed working with the owner and his crew; they are respectful, trustworthy, and very good at their job. read more

I am an absolute perfectionist when it comes to my home and any work that is done on my home. So let me just tell you now - if you need work done on your home, hire Calabrese Home Improvement. Since buying a house two years ago I have hired Justin Kennedy's team to do multiple jobs and all have been completed to perfection. I had them replace all of the hardwood flooring on the main floor and basement. Justin walked us through the process and helped guide us on flooring options. I had them remove built-in office furniture, build a closet and paint to transform a previous home office back into a bedroom. Justin discussed closet placement and size with us. I had them demo and rebuild a bar area in the basement. Justin's team was able to include a farmhouse X style on the front of the bar per our request. I had them paint other rooms and install recessed light fixtures. Again, I can't recommend them enough. Hire them. You'll be happy. Photos are attached. read more

Justin and his team are top notch. We used Calabrese to remove all the old appliances in our kitchen and install new appliances. We also had custom shelving added to our master closet. Calabrese completed both projects in one day. They take great pride in their work and go the extra mile to do it right. They are also very respectful of your home. In this case they had to haul refrigerators and heavy appliances up a long narrow stairway and removed the railing on one side so they would not damage the railing or walls. They also covered the tile in the foyer and carpet on the stairs to prevent any stains or damage. You don't get this level of care from many contractors out there and I have used many. I could not be happier to find a contractor that is so versatile with the type of projects they can do and also someone that I can easily communicate with and feel comfortable having in my home. I found them here on Yelp and I obtained 3 quotes for the job. I had the quotes reviewed by an independent contractor who told me L&R's quote was what the job should reasonably cost. I called 4 references who all had a similar and very positive experience. Lawrence always communicated with me about schedule which had not been the case with other contractors. They were there working on my job every day, not showing up once or twice a week like some others. Any fluctuation to schedule or budget was discussed and agreed upon by both parties. We had a couple of unexpected plumbing delays but that was due to the original build not being up to the current code. I changed direction on a couple of design decisions and Lawrence was right there with me. The work was exceptional and the end product is amazing. I have had the nightmare contractor experience so was very cautious. This was exactly as the process should be and I plan to have them back in the fall to do more work. I give them my highest recommendation!

Our condo flooded and we needed our entire condo painted (one room needed some serious work as it had wall paper), an entire new kitchen cabinets set, new kitchen counters, new water line to fridge, new kitchen sink, new kitchen faucet, new garbage disposal, bathroom floor tiling, bathroom wall tiling, new bathroom vanity with faucet and other various little things. The process took a little over 2 weeks (which is exactly what they said it would take). The main point of contact for us was Mattie. He and his brother were excellent communicators with me and my wife. Not only did he keep us informed every step of the way, but he did it in a way we could understand (Yes he done the job for us lol). They were so nice and accommodating when we added to the job with no complaints at all. They also had an excellent design team when they came and looked at our kitchen. Above all else, their prices were very reasonable. We would HIGHLY recommend 5 Star Renovation and Design.

We converted two rooms plus a hallway into a master suite as well as split two large upstairs rooms into three. We had structural concerns and lots of logistics to work out and I wouldn't trust anyone other than Mike to draw up the plans to make sure everything is safe and up to code. Al oversaw the projects and was in constant communication with us and regularly was on site to make sure everything was going smoothly. If anything wasn't 100% correct or what we had discussed, he would make sure it was remedied. Big shout out to Franz who even showed up to work the day after his wife had a baby! The M3 team worked late days and on weekends (with our consent) to meet their deadlines, even when the county held them up with permitting issues they still worked hard to finish within our timeframe. We even made major changes to our plans after construction had begun and they were able to pivot and help us get more square footage for the upstairs bedrooms. There were also numerous curveballs that they handled with ease (ya never know what you'll get with an old house). This was our first time doing any sort of large project and the team at M3 gave us plenty of guidance and support to make sure the finished product exceeded our expectations. If you want something done right the first time, then I highly recommend contacting M3!! If we stay in this house then you guys won't be done with us yet! -Cristen, Phil and now +2 (!)

Finally, I went into their Herndon location with the photo of a bright, modern bathroom I liked and within an hour I had most of the design and materials chosen. The next day they sent me an estimate. We tweaked a few things and they put us on the schedule. We really wanted a steam shower and knew that added to the cost but they had experience with steam showers. I could have tried to save money by driving around to different places to choose material and by finding and supervising all the workers on my own (I'm usually a DIY person) but I wanted a contractor who'd oversee everything and make it easy and efficient. We had the same workers every day and they showed up when they were supposed to. They took care of getting building permits and scheduling county inspectors. I'm picky about tilework and the guy did an excellent job with cutting 3 different styles of tile. You have to walk through our bedroom to get to the bath so they put up a big plastic tarp wall to minimize dirt and give us some privacy. They put down cloths in our hall every day to keep the floors clean. Everything was spotless when they finished. I'd read some negative reviews about communication before we started and I discussed this with them. The project manager came to check on the work every 4 days and discuss changes or concerns. Every change we requested was updated in the contract. Communication was excellent. It's been 6 months and I'm very happy with our gorgeous bathroom!

I had a hole in my living room ceiling and a hole in my garage wall. I searched online and came across Ashburn Painting and Drywall and read the reviews. Even though I had an offer from a company in another town, I decided to support our local businesses. After contacting them I received a quote and scheduled the work. The work in the garage turned out great, but the living room work was not good. It was not flush with the rest of the ceiling and there was a noticeable line about 18 inches long. When I contacted them about it I was told they stand behind their work. They came back out two weeks later to fix it. Low and behold, the line is still there, they never touched it. I've waited two weeks for a follow up call to see if I was happy with the work before I decided to write this review. I did not receive a call. I will now need to call someone else to fix my ceiling.
