Hello, I went to the Clinic on January 19. I don't know how this place has 5 stars. I am not satisfied with the work they did for me. It has been unpublished for more than a month and they have not been removed as they gave me and according to the treatment they gave me. to put lasted 30 minutes. and they only did it to me in 15 minutes. paid $475. 00 for nothing I do not recommend this clinic. and in the end they sell you some stockings that if you don't wear them they tell you and then the result is not the same, they should tell you beforehand. This place "requires" you have other insurance billable procedures before they will perform sclerotherapy. If you have a voucher for discounted services, they will likely find excuses to not honor it. Like several other reviewers, I needed simple sclerotherapy, which I've had performed before successfully at the dermatologist and a legitimate cosmetic medical center. The last treatment I had was two years ago and I had a few new ones (see attached pics) that I wanted treated for an upcoming beach trip this summer. I'm 115 lbs and 5'3. I do moderate exercise 4-6 times a week. As the pics show, my minor spider veins wouldn't have even taken them 15 minutes to treat. After a 10 second ultrasound, I was told they needed to reschedule me to have another appointment with the doctor so he could recommend the treatment plan moving forward and that they would not accept the discounted voucher I purchased for sclerotherapy. This after I drove for 30 minutes and 15 miles to this location. They are hoping that they can charge you for additional consultations and that you have insurance that will cover additional, more invasive treatments, which they require you have completed BEFORE they will accept you for sclerotherapy. I'm pretty sure that if I had paid their full price for sclerotherapy, they would have gladly performed it. Sadly, the site that I purchased the voucher from will not let me post a review there because the Virginia Vein Care refused to honor the voucher, so I can't even warn others. If I had known this info ahead of time, I would never have purchased that voucher or scheduled with this place. I should have visited Yelp to see the other reviews of this place from the people who had a similar experience to me. Lesson learned! I'll check Yelp from now on. read more

I went to Virginia Vein last Spring, to treat a very minor cosmetic problem in my upper right leg, a small patch of spider veins, that gave me no pain and did not progress for many years. The staff and Dr Rothstein seemed very nice and professional. I had high hopes. I was told the cosmetic treatment would only be successful if I treated any underlying vein issues first. They did an ultrasound and decided I had 6 deep veins that needed surgical treatment. Through April and May, I had 6 sessions, wore compression stockings almost throughout, paid thousands of dollars out-of-pocket, tolerated significant discomfort. First days/weeks were rather painful. I was told things would look worse before they got better, which could be 6 months. I got more and more spider and varicose veins afterwards, progressing each passing day. Check out the picture of my right lower leg attached. I can no longer wear shorts with the giant mess of purple veins sticking out. Not to mention the pain and heaviness I frequently feel. Soo.. I ended up way worse than I started. I'd accepted no progress as a possible outcome, but ending up much sicker than I ever were is unacceptable. I think all those procedures that were 'prescribed' to me were nothing but a money trap, and did more harm than good. read more

I would not use this service for routine or follow-up sclerotherapy. Screening is most likely intended to lead to a billed appointment with the doctor. An onsite and immediate results Covid test was performed which isn't even credible. The screening process for sclerotherapy is questionable and possibly a bait and switch. read more

My procedures were great. But this office is a MESS. Maria...she's never calling you back so don't hold your breath. Do you need to reach them? Apple Maps is going to give you their old phone number that's disconnected. The number from google will hang up on you. Last, and probably the most fun, is if you call directly from their website using the extension, it will claim it is an international number because they missed a digit... after all of my procedures were done a set of stockings were shipped without my permission and billed to me. A few months, a bunch of phone calls, and a trip to FedEx later I was still receiving bills for the remainder of the payment. And after a few aggravating calls with billing it finally got sorted out. I haven't been to the center since spring, but received a statement in the mail yesterday for a visit that I paid in person. I called a different office and got routed to billing where they confirmed I had paid it just had not been applied to "my account." There are plenty of other places to go, who needs this kind of aggravation? read more

Well, I went here because of very resistant spider veins that a Dermatologist and a Plastic Surgeon had been unable to get rid of. I also had the beginnings of varicose veins on my legs. A doppler scan was done and they discovered that my saphenous veins were not working..the valves were defective, and I could see this myself on the doppler scan. Then the MOST WONDERFUL Dr. HAMZA RANA came in to read the doppler scan. He explained it to me this way...my main water pipe was leaking so they have to fix that...THEN they can go in and clean up the mess (ie spider and small varicose veins) that the defective water pipe has made. Made perfect sense. I have since had both Large Saphenous veins and one Small Saphenous vein fixed. The procedure is ABSOLUTELY PAINLESS. Dr. Hamza kept asking if he was hurting me, in which case he would inject more local but there was no pain. It took 20 minutes. Good grief I go to my physical therapist and he sticks a dry needle in the trigger point of my muscle...now that is pain...the PT just tells me to "suck it up buttercup" as I levitate of the table. I read the previous review. Obviously there has been a change of staff because everyone is so very friendly and amenable. In fact, on my second procedure, it was almost like a party in there, we were laughing and talking trash...until the Dr. Hamza walks in and then everything is serious. I really enjoy going there. All sterile procedures are followed and I am draped accordingly and Dr. Hamza suits up. So, it has been a painless procedure before and after. I am able to do everything I want afterward. The technicians are extremely proficient...I am in awe of them. I have to wait a couple of months to heal and see if my legs improve then Dr. Hamza will clean up my spider and varicose veins. The facility is clean and comfortable and making an appointment is a piece of cake without the usual receptionist attitude. (ooooh cake). But I digress. So to sum up. Procedure: painless. Doctor: Friendly, pleasant, proficient, knows his stuff. Staff: An absolute pleasure. Facility: Clean and comfortable. No scar. I will post another review after the varicose and spider vein procedures but if you are on the fence about this I can assure you that you will be pleasantly surprised. read more

I originally went to Virginia Vein Care (VVC) after having purchased a Groupon for Sclerotherapy as I have reoccurring spider veins. I have had previous laser treatments before and even had gone so far as to have had an unsuccessful ablative procedure on my left short saphenous vein (not performed by Virginia Vein Care). During my pre-treatment ultra sound VVC confirmed my underlying venous deficiencies and I ende up going for a round of ablative procedures to close the short and great saphenous veins in both legs as well as a periphery vein in my left leg. All ablative procedures were successful and I have finally used my sclerotherapy Groupon and I have to say my legs feel great! Everyone at the facility was great, Dr. Rothstein, his medical assistants, and all of the office staff including Suzanne Hill the office manager; all wonderful staff. However I want to give special praise to Lieann Wade, the RN Sclerotherapist. I have had sclerotherapy before and ended up with some awful clotting which resulted in long term staining of my skin. Lieann worked so diligently and artfully over my leg that she was able to fix all of my problem areas with such little bruising that 1 week later my legs looked incredible. I have never been so happy with results before!~ All in all the entire team at VVC was great, my experience was wonderful, and I absolutely recommend the Tysons Corner location! read more

Am writing to commend all the staff at the offices for Virginia Vein Care. I frequented the DC and McLean offices for treatments and can't say enough how supportive, efficient, competent and professional the staff are. I had the Cadillac treatment for varicose veins including the cosmetic sclerotherapy treatment after the ablation. All procedures are affordable when you use Groupon for the cosmetic procedures and medical insurance for the ablation and ultrasound. I had the procedures during this summer and wearing support stockings was not fun but having this done during the summer offered me no competition for scheduling appointments around work. I was predestined to deal with varicose veins thanks to both parents having road maps of bulging veins on their legs! Drs. Rothstein and Markovitz, Lance, Rosa, Ms. Jackson, Ms. Coello and other staff all worked together to insure and help me recover from ugly legs to beautiful where I can wear shorts without embarrassment. I also want to thank RN Lieann Wade who treated my legs during the cosmetic sclerotherapy. She is the best at what she does - she has a very detailed eye which is critical when treating those tiny hairlike varicose veins. You can bet she strives to nail every one of them and did. I have been to this clinic 4 times over the last 2 years treating spider veins on my legs with great results! The office is clean and bright, the front desk is very friendly and efficient. I saw both Joyce and Leanne and they were both wonderful! They have did a great job explaining everything and were gentle. But most importantly they really did a great job and my legs look so much better. True professionals! I would highly recommend either one of them, although I believe Joyce is only working out of the DC office now. I am so happy that I found a great Coolsculpt provider in this area! I had been reading about Coolsculpt for quite awhile, but I was nervous to try it anywhere other than a reputable medical office. After finding this practice and reading the promising reviews, I decided to address what I had always considered a saggy area under my chin and could not have been happier with my experience. I loved this facility and staff. Cool sculpting was recommended to me by a friend who had it done and loved it. I had a bit of what I fondly call a bull frog chin. The front desk receptionist was so friendly and easy to talk to. She was willing to look up multiple days and times for me to help me schedule. We found a time and I even got a reminder call ( Which when you are me is a necessity!!) BJ the technician was amazing. She gave me all the information and details. She was able to answer all my questions and was so comforting and calming. Dr. Rothstein is very friendly and knowledgeable as well. He is wonderful at explaining and offering information on health, fitness and diet options to assist in getting the best you possible. His easy going manner allowed me to feel comfortable and excited to proceed with Cool Sculpting. My results are amazing. I had 2 treatments on my bull frog chin and am so happy with the results. I know that they said it can take up to 3 months to see the results but I saw changes around 6 weeks. I am so happy with the results. I look forward to doing other treatments here on other areas that could use a little sculpting. read more

I had a great experience . Everybody including receptionist made sure that my time in the clinic is as pleasant as possible. All technicians, Office Manager and Dr. Markowitz were extremely helpful , listen all my concerns and provide me with answer for every questions. Nobody ever was in rush with me, if anything they took extra time to look after me and my veins. I had 6 closure procedures which we scheduled in June. They were a little bit painful but I am a sensitive person. After few weeks my legs start to feel better. During the whole month of June I did not experience any complications, a little bit of discomfort but no reason to take any painkiller. One week ago I had sclerotherapy treatment for my ugly spider vain and very visible veins in the back of my knees. I am in the healing process now and I need the 2nd treatment, but I am very confident all will turn very positive and I will be happy to show up my legs. I could not ask for better clinic and stuff. They earned my full trust and I definitely recommend this Clinic to everybody who is looking for vein treatment. read more

Dr Markovitz at Virginia Vein Center explained to me that I would need three closure procedures to one, get rid of three varicose veins, and two, to to stop the aching, heavy, tired feeling in my right leg. That said, his procedures were not wholly cosmetic. He primarily focuses on closing off the great and small Saphenous veins. Superficial veins are treated afterwards by way of sclerotherapy . It would take six visits to get my work done. I opted to only treat the two Saphenous veins in my right leg because my left leg was not really a problem... it neither ached or had twisting bulging varicose veins, but supposed had bad valves... a surprise to find out there was even an issue at all. In any case, Dr. Markovitz told me my problems would disappear after treatments were complete. The two surgical procedures implemented ultrasound to locate the diseased vein. Then a catheter was inserted up through the vein where pulses of heat then seal it off. This was a relatively easy procedure to endure. There were only a few uncomfortable moments which was expected considering what was being done. I was only asked to refrain from strenuous exercise for 48 hours. I was encouraged to walk however, and a full length compression sleeve had to worn for a week proceeding each treatment. I was a bit concerned about my end results several weeks after my first procedure. I can't say I was seeing the results I was hoping for. Today, a month+ after my last procedure, I still feel the same way. Both of the veins that I was unhappy about are still present. Now, Dr. Markovitz tells me they will subside over time... that blood is probably still in the veins but that it will dissolve over time. Hmmmmm.... well, I sure hope so. The pain I was having isn't as discomforting as it was before, but isn't completely gone either. I spent near $5000 on this work out of pocket and perhaps for nothing. Ehhhhhh... The sclerotherapy treatments were almost useless. As a matter of factly one the injections left me with a dark and firm area on my ankle to this day, which has been four weeks since my last office visit. I do not recommend these injections unless you are dealing with very fine spider veins. They will not work. I don't question Dr. Markovitz's professionalism, or his ability to close veins. I think he and his staff are good with that. However, I do not think he paints an unrealistic picture of what your end result will be. You will not have legs like the models in his office literature, or website imagery. Expect your varicose veins to only reduce in their intensity, not diminish completely without a trace. I think that's the misconception that patients are given. For the money I spent I almost feel like my leg should be bionic. To think that he will most likely tell me I need more procedures means I could be spending upward of $7000 on one leg. That's a lot of money to be fully satisfied. I also felt like on our last appointment... the one for sclerotherapy... that he was not thorough in making sure all of my issues were followed up on. I never received a follow up communication from him or his staff to ask me about my results either. That spoke volumes to me. Mildly recommended. read more

I went to the McLean office of Virginia Vein Care for a touch-up on two tiny but stubborn veins on my legs. If you only have tiny and few veins, you don't want to go here. (I've had much better results elsewhere, details below.) The sclerotherapist spent over 40 minutes slowly injecting solution into my (non-visible) veins all over my legs. At first I appreciated the thoroughness. BUT, the result was terrible and even seemed malicious. Very heavy handed. Eight weeks later I have blue veins that look like bruises, where previously nothing was visible! Also, my feet were very swollen for at least 6 weeks and I had to constantly massage and elevate them to keep the swelling down. And I had mysterious little fleeting pains throughout my legs which made me fear a blood clot, so I went to another vein doctor to make sure that I didn't have a clot. After 6 weeks and many visible bruises, I started using very strong Arnica tablets and gel for two more weeks, which did help with further recovery. But the whole incident was ridiculous -- I can't wear shorts or dresses with bruises, and I can't get a tan because it will turn the marks into permanent scars. The whole point of the touch-up was to allow me to enjoy my summer and so far, I feel damaged and my summer is off to a slow start and I haven't been able to wear this new dress I bought. The doctor I went to to evaluate possible blood clots affirmed that there are two approaches to sclerotherapy and he endorses the method that worked for me the first time: The technique that worked for me in the past involved tiny quick injections right at the point of the visible (tiny) veins-- this created many tiny bruises but they were gone within two or three weeks. At Virginia Vein Care the sclerotherpist would inject solution into a good vein and wait for it to travel several inches away to treat visible veins. The damage this causes might go unnoticed in someone who has an extreme vein problem, but if you come in with a nearly blank slate, you're going to notice a lot of damage. NO wonder they had me sign a waiver beforehand. And when I went in 8 weeks later to ask about the newly visible veins, they reminded me of the waiver I had signed. That's just sloppy work. OH, and I also had a hematoma bruise that was extremely painful and turned green and then yellow and lasted a good 6 weeks. I think they got the solution into a muscle. read more

I went to Virginia Vein Care to fix varicose veins on my legs. After the first appointment, they determined that I needed 7 laser operations. I had 5 scheduled vein closure procedures, but the fifth was canceled by the doctor, because my vein had been decompressed, and he stated no further work was required. A few months later I received a bill in the mail and realized that I was charged extra for the procedures I didn't receive. The overall bill was also much more expensive due to the fact that it was missing the majority of payments we had made at each appointment. According to the bill, the fifth procedure was turned into an expensive "extremity study", although all they did was take a short series of pictures of my legs. When I called and asked to remove the extra charges, they tried to justify taking pictures as an "extremity study" and simply did not want to deal with me. Currently I am still being charged for that. All they care about is getting more money. Also after their treatment I am having pain in my legs which I did not have before. The administrative staff in this clinic is unprofessional; the receptionist had an attitude at most of the appointments I went to, rolling eyes/sighing/acting generally annoyed whenever I or my husband asked about scheduling appointments or for additional paperwork (which was readily available at her desk). read more

I would have loved to add a favorable review as I was looking forward to having the spider veins on my face gone once and for all. It sounded great as they had a groupon for the first treatment. I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" is true. I scheduled my first appointment, worked from home that morning so I could be sure to make the appt. and got a call about 6 hours before my appt. saying that the person scheduled to do my procedure wasn't going to be in so they had to reschedule. When I went to reschedule, I was told that the person who does these procedures does not always block off the calendar until the last minute to the office staff really has no idea if the appt would really happen. I rescheduled for today and was told that today (8/4/14) was the only day this entire month I could get the procedure since staff was taking vacations. I moved meetings around and drove to my appt only to find out that they did it to me again and Christine was not able to make it to my appt and that I could either drive to their McLean office (1.25 hours from where I live), or reschedule for September.
