Purchased a Mendota Fireplace insert from this company. Paid their referred contractor to Install... over 10k for product and service. It's been a month since install. The fireplace has not worked since day 1. No follow up .... Constant contacts from us to Viridien. They keep saying they are ordering parts each time I've called. Emails sent... unanswered. Poor response for a large investment that is rendered useless. We've had Mendota inserts prior with no issue. This is clearly a defective unit/installer error. Buyer beware. If anything happens... you will be on your own to resolve. read more

I expect to pay more to support a retail location. That's ok. But how much more. I looked at a poly/resin Adirondack chair. I've seen them many places and online. They had some really cool orange chairs. I asked the sales lady the cost and she told me $379 per chair. I was taken aback. Wow. When I got home I did a quick search and found the same chairs online for $199 to to $240 (plus some higher but still the highest priced chairs were $100 cheaper). I used to tell my suppliers (35+ year supply chain guy) that I didn't always have to have the best price but that I needed a fair price. Their price was not fair. After I heard the price for what I thought would be the cheapest thing in their store I turned around and walked out. There was no way I could afford any of their patio sets. Another review mentioned their high prices. They were right. The staff seemed very nice. They laughed when I ribbed them about the cost. read more

There is a very good selection of items on the floor here, but beware of: 1. high prices 2. long delivery time 3. friendly staff The staff is friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are a happy customer and will do whatever they can with suggestions or options for your purchase. The downside is that they apparently do not have much in the warehouse, and so you will wait 2-3 months for your delivery -- and it is probably worse as the peak of the summer season hits. Also beware that furniture here is NOT cheap. But as as saying goes, you get what you pay for. Great place to window shop, and make a serious purchase. read more

I have to admit I had the same experience that Joe had in 2018, and I note that the salesperson was the same one. The Manager states that they had increased training. If this was done, it was certainly not effective training. I'll get into the specifics below, but I could NEVER RECOMMEND anyone purchase from you at Firehouse Casual. You do have an excellent selection of attractive furniture and a good display of gas firelogs to choose from. The in-store experience was fine, and the installer we picked from their recommended list was excellent. That is the sum total of the good. We ordered our firelogs in January, and Amy told us they were out of stock, that she thought they should come in that Saturday and if not, they would be in on the following Saturday. She would call us. She did not. We called, got her voice message, and we left a message. NO REPLY. We called again, multiple times, and we sent a number of e-mails. Once we go a reply. On April 13 she left a voice mail, "Hey Sarah it's Amy with firehouse casual living. Got your message and I want to let you know we're expecting your turner(?) just one part missing or expecting that by the end of the month late in be the end of this week but as soon as it comes in I'll give you a call." Of course, NO CALL. We sent message after message to her e-mail and through voice. No Reply. We also called the store directly and left messages, I believe it was 3 times, perhaps more. NO REPLY FROM AMY OR THE MANAGER. We continued this process until June, when I got a message that they had the logs, the store was moving, and we had to pick them up within the week. I called the installer (Kamin) who set a date to pick up the logs and come out promptly and install. When I called the store again to arrange payment for the remaining half, GUESS WHAT? They returned that call promptly, although it was not Amy. The person who did call was pleasant, but when I asked her a few questions, she had to check with someone on the answer every time. Nick Kamin came out on June 22 and did a quick and excellent job. We got our logs just in time for the heat of the summer. I realize that there were supply problems during the pandemic, but there is absolutely no excuse for the repeated failures to return calls; they should have initiated a few themselves. This is perhaps the worst experience I have ever had in making a purchase, and of course they are held out to be a high end store, with prices to match. I COULD NEVER REOMMEND THAT ANYONE PURCHASE FROM THIS STORE. read more

The Fire House does what they aim to do well but they do it at a premium. They have a wide variety of outdoor furniture, grills, fireplaces, and hammocks. The service is friendly and enthusiastic (almost startlingly so). And I will be the first to admit that usually I am unnecessarily cheap, like above and beyond the call of budget. But on this one I don't think I am being unrealistic. Prices for patio chairs were on par with pricing for upholstered, good quality accent chairs in other furniture retailers. I understand that you get what you pay for, but I just couldn't do it. If you have deeper pockets than me, head on over. They really do have some lovely furniture. read more

We needed new gas logs for our fireplace. We went to the WT Harris store on Monday, December 17th. Amy Rhodes was the sales consultant who assisted us in store. Our in store experience was pleasant enough, the issues started after we'd left. We were told in store that they had several cancellations and Amy indicated we could get our logs installed before Christmas, Amy promised to follow up with me the next day. When I'd heard nothing on Tuesday I called and left a message for Amy and sent an email in case she'd been out of the office. She responded to the email and told me the installation was scheduled for the 28th @ 9:30 but someone from the store would call me and see if they could squeeze something in before Christmas. When I'd heard nothing I called the store on Thursday and talked to Mona. Mona told me we were not on the schedule for the 28th and the best they could do was January 10th. Needless to say I was not happy but accepted it. The installer would pick up the logs and be out on the 10th as we'd already paid for both the logs and the installation. On Saturday I get another email from Amy telling me she does have us scheduled for the 28th. I responded and told her I was very confused and recounted what Mona had told me. Amy responded on Sunday and said she'd be in the office on Monday and see what was going on. On Monday, when once again I hadn't heard from Amy I tried calling and couldn't get her and sent another email asking if we were in fact scheduled for Friday, 28th. The response I received was "Yes." On Thursday 27th I called about 3:30 to make sure nothing had changed and was informed that Amy had sent me an email "earlier" which I hadn't yet read, to inform me that they changed to an outside installer and I'd have to come to the store and pick up the logs and they'd refund the installation charge as I'd have to pay the installer myself. Good thing I called and had just returned to town as I'd been traveling. I normally don't check my personal email account on workdays except in the morning and later in the evening as I'm dealing with my work account during the day. Our logs were I fact installed by Chad from EPS on the 28th. He was a very courteous and conscientious young man who did a stellar job and was very careful not to leave any mess both while he worked as as he left. Our experience with Fire House Casual was not good. I would not recommend them to anyone solely based on the way were treated after the initial sale. Amy acted like a deceptive used car salesman dodging phone calls and not following up. My wife and I own a small business and are both in sales. This is NOT how to get repeat business. read more

While looking for replacement cushions today, my 1 year-old son knocked into a fake glass of lemonade, and it fell and broke. They charged me the $44 for it. Accidents happen especially with small children. I will not be buying my cushions or anything else from them! read more

My family and I came in to look for some outdoor furniture. The store manager was not helpful at all and he was laughing at my brother who has Down syndrome. I have never felt so uncomfortable and mortified before in my entire life! And to top it off the manager was smoking a cigarette inside the store and the place smelled like an ashtray. My husband and I had not shopped for new outdoor patio furniture for quite a while and were feeling a little overwhelmed by the wide variety of options. And then we went to the Fire House Casual Living Store and met Alex. After we briefly told her what pieces we were thinking about using, she patiently and kindly narrowed down the selection and showed us each one. Alex is very knowledgeable, patient and friendly. We felt so comfortable knowing she was looking for the best quality furniture for us while also looking for good value. We would probably still be roaming stores if we had not stopped at Firehouse and met Alex. Our patio furniture was just delivered this week and it's perfect. We will probably return later for some additional pieces and will definitely look forward to having Alex's professional guidance. She does have a flair for decorating and color selection. We stopped at several other stores before our final stop on the route which was Firehouse. I can assure you that they have a great selection, in many price ranges and their prices were much better than those we saw elsewhere. Our shopping experience was very good at this store, but their items are a bit overpriced in our opinion (they only have certain items 'on sale', not a storewide sale). When our furniture was delivered, the delivery guy told us the dining table was still on back order (this is 2 weeks after purchasing everything). He told us the store should have notified us, and despite what the salesperson who worked with us said, we were not notified of the delay on the dining table; she claims she left multiple messages before the delivery date; however, neither my husband or myself have any message addressing the delay. Now the table has come in and we have to wait another week for delivery; delivery guy said it would be delivered ASAP once it arrived. When speaking with our salesperson yesterday, she became very defensive about the delay and the fact of not be notified of the delay before the first delivery. I suppose this is average in today's retail world. read more

Be careful! Made a large purchase recently, with the verbal understanding that it was contingent upon final "site inspection" for appropriateness. Was not the right product for the space, to find out item had been special ordered in advance of site inspection, no returns or refunds, take it or leave it. AND they failed to mention another $1400 in extra parts and install due. Very poor communication, did not do what they said they would do, an all around unpleasant and expensive transaction. The salesman did a classic bait and switch. The patio set was on sale for 40% off, and we were told that included cushions. After deciding to purchase and picking out a fabric, we were told the fabric we wanted was another 20% (~$600). Outrageous but we were tired of looking. We paid 50% down and on balance on delivery 6 wks later, but the delivery did not include one of the pieces. We were told it would be another 60 days. After not hearing back, I called and was told there were manufacturing issues and they wanted to know what I wanted to do. I told them to give me the model off the floor. Will not go back. read more

Far and away the worst customer service experience of my life. Spent $1300 in January 2018 to replace our 20-year old logs which we bought from Blackhawk Hardware (they no longer sell gas logs). Beware that when you buy logs from these people, you will void their 90-day parts only warranty unless you use one of their "qualified" installers. It turns out that we are at his mercy. Once purchased we waited two weeks for installation and that's when the nightmare really started. The logs won't stay lit, and each time we called their approved installer you are placed at the back of the line for service, which is currently six weeks. And note that the installer won't answer your call. Your call is put in voicemail to be answered with the next business day. And then he only uses text messages to communicate, and again we had to wait hours to get a reply. When we turned on the logs the first week of November they quickly shut off again and we had to contact the installer, again. He texted that we need a new valve and that he could install for $75 in five weeks on Dec 10! Since we missed the enjoyment of having the logs over Thanksgiving we were highly anticipating enjoying the logs for Christmas. So on December 10 he installs the new valve, I pay him, and before he has left our neighborhood the logs go out as before. And calling him to try to get him back doesn't work because of he uses voice mail and texting. So I'm back at the end of the line again and he proudly announced he could come back on January 3! When I called the store I was immediately made to feel that like a member of their Enemies List, and they have done nothing to change that perception. I was told I would get a call from their "General Manager", but have yet to hear from anyone. I wonder if it's the same GM that writes the smarmy replies to these reviews. The installer seems to brag that "hey, it's a seasonal business". Think about it: If this was any other type of product, like a TV or home appliance or a furnace--by the way my house furnace is "seasonal" too--they couldn't get away with such baloney. Bottom line is that the Casual Living stores do not have the resources to support their customers when problems like this occur. But even worse, they don't care enough to communicate with their customers--a fault of their people and their installer. Even if you walked into their store and bought a new set of logs for Christmas, you are looking at, currently, six weeks or more wait time. Stay away from Firehouse Casual Living stores. Their customer service is casual at best, and seasonal for sure. read more

I have had a wonderful experience with Fire House! Have bought there before but had been a while. I put in a pool this year and needed a whole ensemble of furniture for outdoor use. Was able to buy on sale and a wonderful price and they graciously offered to store til I needed. Well, the pool process drug on but Firehouse never lost patience with me. Furniture was delivered yesterday and looks wonderful! The delivery men were prompt, professional and great to talk to. Can't say enough about Melissa and Dyan. Only place I will shop! Service sucks after you purchase merchandise!!! I purchased gas logs with a remote control. Had professional installers from Piedmont natural gas install the logs and turn my gas on. The remote control for the logs did not work ( evidently it was wired incorrectly at the manufacturer) the installers tried several times to correct the problem but were unable to . Called firehouse and spoke to a customer service rep and was told that was a common problem with those type of logs and that I can pay additional for another installer to come out and correct the problem NOT! I'm not paying twice for the same thing!!!! These are brand new logs with a brand new remote why should I have to pay twice for the same thing? We had all intentions of visiting two other competitors for comparison, but bought on the spot b/c we found exactly what we were looking for and had great customer service. We were searching for a good, all-weather, outdoor furniture set for our patio. Firehouse Casual has tons to choose from at all different price levels. The salesperson we dealt with, Rich, was great. Down to earth, very knowledgeable and didn't try to steer us to a really expensive set or a set that didn't make sense for our space. We ended up choosing the Newport collection from Hanamint. It was delivered today and I couldn't be more pleased. It's perfect and I thought very reasonable for what we got. Would highly recommend this place and would definitely shop here again. read more

Great product selection. I have ordered two items from FHCL and both arrived in good condition. One I picked up, which was easy and one I had delivered. The delivery team was great, courteous and professional. My only slight challenge is that both times I had to call the store to see if my items had arrived yet. In both cases I was told, don't worry we will call you when it shows up. However, when I didn't hear from the store after waiting another week or so (in both cases), I called back and amazingly my item had come in that morning and they were going to call me. So I do not think I just happen to call on the day my items arrived, I think there needs to be a better system to let a customer know when an item comes in. As a result I would just encourage you to follow up on anything you special order to make sure it is not sitting in the warehouse. Otherwise a great experience, I would definitely buy from them again. read more
