We just completed our first NAGA tournament with the guidance of Professor Phil, and she loved it. Both Aaron and Phil Are natural teachers when it comes to working with children. They push the children physically, encourage them to give their best, and they don't hand out participation awards. You earn what you get! The professors and coaches were top-notch -- extremely technical, detail-oriented, and able to teach in a way that made the techniques easy to understand and apply. Everyone seemed focused on improving while still keeping the environment friendly and supportive for all skill levels. The location is great for anyone in East Pflugerville. Parking was easy and not overcrowded, and although the academy is tucked behind a few storefronts, it's still very accessible once you know where it is. My husband has been attending for almost 3 years now and our daughter became interested after watching some of his classes. Next month will be a year since our daughter started and Professor Andre, Coach Eric, Coach Brayden, and Coach Stormy have been a huge influence on her and we credit them with helping her gain incredible confidence. BJJ has helped her grow so much on and off the mat in just one year. Professor Andre and the staff have such a way with the kids. Teaching them valuable qualities such as respect, hard work, discipline and leadership all while learning valuable self defense skills and the kids have fun every class! For parents of girls give it a chance! Our "girly girl" looks forward to every class and loves to show off her new skills to us. She even came to us and said her goal is to compete this year. Which I never would have thought she'd want to do. We have attended classes at the other sister schools in the area as well and they all seem to have the same quality staff there too. They have a very strong fight team headlined by UFC fighter/sniper Tim Kennedy. His presence attracts other random semi-famous fighters so the opportunity to tell your friends you got you butt handed to you by a professional cage fighter can and will happen, if that appeals to you. But don't be intimidated by that. There is no pressure to fight, and like I said the vast majority of peeps are there to learn technique and get into shape. I am writing this review to share a deeply concerning safety incident that occurred at Twin Wolves…read moreMMA. On July 6th, following a verbal altercation, Professor Ryan Ruiz physically shoved me with both hands in the chest/shoulder area, knocking me to the ground where my head struck the grass. As a result of this physical attack, I sustained a concussion and have since been diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome. I have required multiple hospital visits for ongoing severe dizziness, and the incident has triggered severe emotional distress and aggravated my PTSD. A formal report regarding this conduct has been filed with the Harker Heights Police Department. I strongly advise anyone considering training here to be aware of this situation regarding student safety and conduct. The IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) Will be receiving my report this week. This type of elder abuse, an abusive a protected veteran cannot be tolerated. I was severely humiliated.
