I was armed with not one, but two MRIs from other doctors, ready to hear the dreaded "Let's schedule surgery" speech. Instead, I met with a genuine, down to earth, personable doctor that actually listened to all my complaints and I mean all of them lol. Not just "my back hurts," but also my entire medical history. Dr. Desaloms already has my MRIs up on a giant screen ready to review my issues. This office clearly invests in top-notch technology, and it shows. Love his PA Stephanie (extra bonus points for having her in his back pocket!). He's not the kind of neurosurgeon who pushes surgery just because he can. I may need it someday, but right now he's focused on what's best for me. That kind of organic, patient-first approach is rare. The entire staff at Dallas Neurosurgical and Spine, from the front desk, tech, PA to billing -- were exceptional people who obviously enjoy (and love) their jobs!

My only other option was yet another disc fusion. For three months prior to this surgery, I had been in unimaginable pain, taking 3-5 Tramadol daily - and sometimes even more significant pain medicine - none of which provided much relief. When I awoke from surgery, the pain from the herniated disc was GONE. I experienced some minimal pain at the surgery site for a few day, for which I took Tylenol. In the six weeks since surgery, I've not taken a single Tramadol - only occasional Aleve. As I understand, Dr. Derman is one of only 10 surgeons in the country performing this particular surgery. What a relief Dr. Derman and this surgery has meant for me. I'm now released to resume my normal activities - including occasional golf - YEA! I can't thank Dr. Derman and his team enough - and highly recommend him to anyone with chronic back pain. Thanks Dr. Derman

I visited him for 6 weeks and after receiving my results from an MRI he referred me to see Dr. Derman. I was very skeptical and nervous but also had felt i had no option. I couldn't walk 100ft, play with my son or even live normal life. My mri results showed i tore my L5-S1 disc with a 15mm bulge. I did a consultation with Dr. Derman which first step was to receive a steroid shot which was not successful due to the size of the bulge. I then had a follow up Appointment which then decided to proceed with surgery ( laminectomy with a microdisectomy ). My surgery was 6 weeks ago and 12 hours after my surgery i was able to easily walk a mile. Today i am able to walk, play with my son, and live life normal again without any issues or problems or pain. If you are experiencing or have anything similar to this Dr. Derman IS THE MAN and has changed my life back to normal. He knows what he is talking about and doing. I want to thank Dr. Derman, Claire, Ashley and his staff. They have been so amazing, easy to talk to and quick to communicate. Dr. Derman truly cares, is dedicated and very educated in what he does. Apparently they have a new policy that isn't posted anywhere, nor is it in any written Practice Policy that I signed, that states that if you are 10 mins late, she can up and decide to reschedule your appointment. Even the office manager said it's a new policy and not in writing nor have they notified their patients of it yet. So after driving 45 mins on toll roads from Fort Worth to Plano, I fell victim to some random "policy" that I wasn't aware of because they don't notify their patients. Save yourself the hassle and don't book with Jessica. She likes to make up policies as goes.

I am a plastic surgeon in San Diego, California and was referred to Dr. Denning by another surgeon who practices in Dallas and knows about Dr. Denning's stellar reputation in Texas. Dr. Denning epitomizes all of the finest qualities a patient expects from his surgeon. He is technically excellent, compassionate, kind, and incorporates the most innovative and minimally invasive techniques available for spine surgery. In addition, I was fortunate to be treated at Methodist Hospital for Surgery which is one of the finest surgical facilities in the nation. The staff are all very friendly and professional with excellent bedside care. The operating rooms and anesthesiologists are exceptional. I understand that Dr. Denning treats patients from across the country and globally due to his reputation. After asking for all my health records, he made me wait 10 days in pain, for an appointment (which is fine, I agreed to wait so not his fault at all). Literally 2 minutes before my appointment as I'm driving in, he makes his front desk call me and say he cannot see me. He saw my charts probably just then, realized that I had a steroid shot so he probably could not do surgery, so said I need to wait 6 weeks and go back to my doctor that gave me the shot originally. Or else I can see another doctor at his practice! If it is a medical reason he cannot see me for 6 weeks after my shot, then I should not be able to see anyone else either! If it's not a medical reason why he cannot see me, then what changed in 10 days? I asked the front desk why am I being told literally 2 minutes before my appointment that he doesn't want to see me. He had complete disregard for my time, and shows his character on how he treats people. I informed this person that they are approximately 250 miles away and from 2002-2003. I asked for a referral that may see me (since I needed help then) without needing past records. They gave me three - I called them all and took the first appointment available, however this Doc (a.k.a. quack) thought me a waste of time and was zero help. So, with the understanding that if I wanted to visit posmc I needed to get medical records. So I went to work... almost five weeks worth of work to get the records to me. Did I forget to mention that I needed to see someone five weeks ago and have been in pain and limited use of limb? I call today to schedule an appointment. No mention of needing medical records, so I asked if something had changed. Quite rude as if I had interrupted her day; 'Sir, unless you are on Medicare/Medicaid we do not require records'. Wow, what a surprise! Just to verify we were on the same page I explained what I had gone through and want to make sure there are no further hiccups so I can get needed medical care. We schedule the appointment, she takes my info and then asks for only the group # and ID #. Explain no problem, I have it just not with me. She says she will book it and I can call back with those two pieces of info and we will be good to go. I get it and call back 5 minutes later and another ("very friendly") lady answers and says I also need the exact name of plan printed on the card (which I didn't have with me), the zip code listed on the card AND the exact co-pay. I asked if this was necessary at this point as I didn't have the info and have never been asked for that much info in the past... EVER! She of course says "yes, we need it now unless you want to be sitting in the waiting room for 40 minutes when you get here". Again, Dr. Lund... sorry this has to go on your listing, but maybe it will help influence some change internally for your company. --- FYI... my background is in sales/client service, business ownership and my wife also has extensive background in medical facility operations; just so you know I know how it is supposed to go :).
