BEWARE! Ace stores are not required to honor prices on the Ace website, whether you purchase it on-line or in the store. I tried to resolve this with a manager but he was willing to do nothing. I then complained about this to corporate and here's their response: "... Thank you for contacting the Ace Care Center. We always strive to provide amazing customer service. The screen shots you emailed us show that they were taken from the Ace Hardware website. As that all Ace Hardware retailers are independently owned & operated, each store maintains control of their business they are not required to honor online pricing. The copy of the purchase receipt your emailed us shows that it was an in-store purchase. We are unable to make any adjustments to that purchase since we do not have access to their Point-Of-Sale systems. The store is the only one that can make adjustments to your purchase. We apologize for any inconvenience..." So, if you find something "on sale" on the Ace website or the app, it doesn't mean anything. As this is not the first time I've had a pricing issue with this store, I'll be pursuing this false advertising policy with the appropriate government authorities. I've tried very hard to give these local businessmen my business, but it's Lowe's and Home Depot for me from now on. ON EDIT: Here's a near-instant response from the store: "...I have spoken with the manager of that day. As he stated to you, we will always honor online pricing, and we will always verify by pulling up the Ace Hardware website as per policy. We do not honor screen shots, as you were told, because we do not know which location, date and time for that price online. We hope you understand, that as a business, we have policies and steps that we need to follow. Thanks, Vision Ace Hardware of Dunedin." I showed that "manager" 2 screen shots with time and date stamps 30 minutes AFTER I made the purchase, proving that the item was still on sale. They, along with a copy of my receipt, proved I bought the correct item as per the ad and I bought it within the time frame of the sale. (So, to say that "...we do not know which location, date and time for that price online" simply isn't true.) By the time I got back to the store (same day, about 3 hours later), the sale price from the website had disappeared. If something is "on sale" at a store within a certain date range, doesn't that sale (unless otherwise noted) go until 11:59PM of the final day? Have you ever heard of a sale ending in the middle of an afternoon? Yeah, I thought that was strange, too. I guess Ace gets to do whatever they want with pricing, and I get to shop at any of their competitors. I hope other customers that have run into this deceptive policy do the same. read more

A hero cop-tress pulled me over a few nights ago because ONE OF TWO license plate lights was burned out. I guess she was bored or she was hoping to find 100 pounds of Fentanyl in my trunk. Sorry, hero, I haven't even had a ticket in 30 years! She magnanimously let me off with a warning. Thank you, your Grace! So, I had to go to Advance Auto Parts to buy a light and replacement screws for the plastic light cover because mine were all rusted to Hell (Indiana car) and I had to drill 2 of the screws out to get the plastic covers off to replace the license plate lights. Advance Auto Parts did not have anything close to the screws I needed. The employee suggested Ace Hardware. Next day I went to my local Ace Hardware and the guy didn't have what I needed, but sold me some screws he THOUGHT WOULD WORK. I tried to install them in their parking lot and they did not fit. So I went back into the store and got a refund. The next day I went to O 'Reilly Auto Parts and the asst. manager told me right off the bat, without even walking over to their nut/bolt/ and screw section that he didn't have them. He didn't even want to look. I have a Chevy Trailblazer, not that old, not an unusual vehicle. 3 different places that are supposed car parts/ hardware EXPERTS don't have a couple common screws!!! First Review of 2021! #3143 Really large Ace Hardware with a lot of useless space. There's even a small division of the USPS located inside, that's useful. We came today, to find museum wax, or something similar to make sure that our TV wouldn't fall off the new stand if our cats get rambunctious. We didn't find the Museum Wax, but did find gorilla tape, so that should do the job. We had a nice time exploring the store, looking around to see what was there. The place is neat in that its your every day hardware store, with a very female oriented gift shop plopped int the center of the store. The first person we encountered seemed to be a hawker for a window/siding company who was offering a chance at a Ace gift card, if you listened to him. No one was stopping. I don't think any of the employees spoke with us at this point. We found what we needed and made our way our without any issues and made our way to the check out, where they had three people on the registers. That was a pleasant check out experience. read more

I love Ace Hardware. I went to the store in Dunedin Florida. They have a lot of knowledgeable, friendly and helpful people everywhere! Even on the phone they will go above and beyond the bigger Hardware stores to help customers. I also love their excellent items that you won't find in a larger Hardware store. Tried to return some items to the Dunedin store I purchased at the Largo ACE. Cashier at Dunedin ACE said the Largo store had ripped me off by overcharging for the items and they would not take them back at this store. I cannot express how much I like this Ace Hardware location. This is one of those things you have to see for yourself, especially if you think this is your grandfather's old mom-and-pop hardware store. Growing up in New Jersey I had Home Centers called Rickles and Channel Lumber and outside of that it was a mom-and-pop Ace Hardware in Maplewood New Jersey. It was Tiny so, they didn't always have everything you wanted but, the people who ran it we're golden. Many years after that first experience in Maplewood, I found myself inside the Vision Ace Hardware... What an incredible experience. True, this place isn't the size of a Home Depot or Lowe's but, I'll be damned if they don't have just about everything you need... They. even have free popcorn. Seriously though, I needed a chainsaw repaired and I love that theyI did it on the spot. Their boutique area is extensive and they even have things that are perfect for the local Floridian and tourists alike. From home to garden, they carry it all. ...And I'm going to mention the popcorn one more time... Being a big popcorn junkie, this completely freaked me out when I walked in the first time. Please note that they do have a schedule for this freebie snack and also note that some of the silver-haired folks seem to know it better than I do. I highly recommend this location to anyone needing a hardware store or an uplifting stroll through a boutique or a simple place to mail out a package (they have all shipping materials you could need for sale here) ... if they had a coffee bar and free Wi-Fi omg... :-) Great Job Ace Hardware! I don't like to give negative reviews, but my visit was not the best. I ordered something online. About a week later, I received an email that it was ready for pickup. On the email, it said you can go inside to pick it up, or call when you get there. When I arrived, there was no signage on where to go for online pickup and they were very busy so I thought it would be easier to go inside. When I went inside, it was not clear where to go, so I figured the checkout counter was the best place to start. I waited in line with my mask on, six feet apart from everyone else. While I was in line, a customer in front of me was asking about some bags of landscaping material she was supposed to pick up. Apparently she purchased a bunch and they were a few bags short, so told her they would have it available for pickup later. Well this poor lady had called and/or come back 6 times and every time she came back, they didn't have it/forgot to put some of the new shipment aside for her etc. The clerk told her the best thing to do was to just try calling back again, which was not the right answer. The clerk next to her said no, take her name and number. When it was my turn, the clerk I talked to said online orders were to be picked up at the service desk in hardware. When I went to the service desk in hardware, the man there couldn't find it and said it was at the checkout counter. I said, "they just sent me here." And he basically said they didn't know what they were doing. Anyway, I went back to the front, and this time I got the person in the middle who ended up telling the other clerk to take the other customers' info. She was able to call someone to bring up my order. I have no idea where my order came from, or even if it had been put aside. My suggestion to them it to get a system for online orders and other pick ups and to have signage outside and in the front door on where customers should go. Someone needs to be in charge of this because everyone seemed very unclear on what to do. I could have ordered a similar product on Amazon and had it much sooner but I wanted to support a local business. However, there needs to be more organization for me to come back. read more

I drove to this ace because of their comprehensive key department. I stood in line for 20 minutes. Eventually the old man working the department while the usual guy was at lunch , he couldn't even be bothered to look for a key blank. He looked for a replica of the picture on the key. He had at least 40 key shapes for an automobile key but could not be bothered to look and compare. I won't waste my time again with them. read more

Home decor , kitchen appliances, clothing, seasonal decorations , cards, paint , hardware, plants, a post office, books, grills- I could go on and on . Oh - I almost forgot there is even a popcorn machine with free popcorn ! I love taking time to look at their unique items like the different soaps and things . Unlike the big home improvement chains, Vision Ace lured me in with its friendly and old school vibes. Prices are a little higher than the chains, but it costs money to support the little guy. Remember Scotty's Hardware? I used to love that place, but folks stopped shopping there when the big orange competitor moved in down the street. I always felt bad about that, as if I could have possibly done something about it. I was just a young man back then with no actually need for many home improvement supplies. Well, things are different now, and I'm taking a stand against these big-ass, made-in-China mega improvement super centers. How? Buy as much stuff from Vision Ace as the budget will allow before resorting to the chains. I wanted to get some Christmas postage stamps and didn't feel like dealing with the crowds at the Main Post Office on Belcher Rd. I walked right in, found the USPS dept. and was greeted by a cheerful USPS associate who had just what I was looking for. From what I could see, they have everything you would need to mail anything. I've always know about this USPS satellite location but it was never on my 'radar' when I needed to mail a package. Now, I can't image dealing with the big USPS location on Belcher Rd. ever again. read more

I just had a very negative experience with manager Rob at this location. He refused to process a refund of $7.59 for a dysfunctional hose valve that I purchased 7 days ago. I presented the unused item along with a receipt and was told he would not give me a refund because the paper tag with the item name and bar code was missing. 2 days prior I was told by a different manager that a refund wouldn't be a problem as long as I had my receipt. Not only was Rob rude to me in front of other customers but what kind of business will not accept a refund just because the tag/packaging is missing? Unbelievable! read more

I am a brand new resident of Dunedin FL and went into this store today to look at buying a new grill. My husband and I shop a lot at Ace Hardware where we lived in Saint Augustine Florida and we were anxious to establish a new relationship with the store. I will not be returning as the customer service was terrible and the people behind the checkout counter were very unhelpful and rude. I dropped a screen off for repair and today the guy calls to tell me it's done and then proceeds to slam the phone down in my ear. But ok so maybe he was busy or didn't mean to. I go right over to pick it up and the guy ignores me for 10 minutes then says "what" to me. Now I'm pretty aggravated and tell him he just called about my screen and I want to pick it up. He gets my screen and thrusts it at me then says "your welcome" huh???? There's two people that work there that are so awesome but the rest are just rude and miserable. This was my last dollar that they'll get from me. Lowe's will do just fine. read more

We stopped in this locally owned store on our way back to Tampa. The store has everything! It is like a general dry goods store. We found many hard to find items that we had been searching for. My husband was thrilled to find some really well-made outdoor shorts he had been looking for for over a year. They have a very large area of Grill accessories. The sales personnel were very helpful and easily accessible. The check out areas were well staffed and pleasant. Although it is 20 miles from our home, we will happily bypass the corporate big box stores to support this local business. read more

As a native New Yorker, some of the creatures we have seen on our property, have been many if not intriguing: Heron gulls with their curved 6 inch long beaks forage for worms and insects are quite effective in what they do, but rats in the area, present very different type treat. Moreover, not only do they leave droppings, but will chew up carpet, upholstery, chairs and all types of bedding and furniture. They will claw through food stuffs and ruin unprotected items. We've never had a rodent problem until last December of 2013, when infestation began. At home, my wife, grandchildren and daughter said, "NO" they've got to go! Often I chime right in and respond to requests to give a hand with many household chores, but getting rid of rats was strictly, "my" baby. Who can stand against the call to arms and be ready to defend, family? I have since picked up some education on killing rats, but I needed to go further for there is a nest somewhere on the premises, and salesman Tony Carbone of Ace Hardware, heard our cry and gave us some advice. Moreover, he is knowledgeable and explained some rudiments of getting rid of rat pests. He took his time to inculcate us. and further price matched everything he sold to us. Using steel wool to choke these creatures was novel and our dwelling spaces seemed at this time to be in the clear. Use triple 000 steel wool and peanut butter glue trays strategically placed with spring traps. His instruction was direct as he answered our questions. The Ace Store Manager is James De Carlos and we nevertheless are pleased with this new protection. This is not the first review I have done for this store. I have been a regular customer for years. I have always chosen Vision Ace over the big box stores. At the beginning the pandemic, I stopped in once. All employees were masked and gloved, sanitizing carts and had a hand sanitizing station at the. I felt safe and was grateful for their concern. I ran in again last week. Even though the pandemic is not over and our infection rates are skyrocketing, you wouldn't know it by the employees. No more cart sanitizing, the hand sanitizing station was empty. Not one employee was wear a mask or social distancing! There was a group of three employees without masks standing shoulder to shoulder looking at a picture. Every customer that I saw was masked. An ummasked employee came with in inches of me and asked if I needed help. I told him not unless he puts on a mask. He literally laughed in my masked face and walked away. I left and went up the street to Lowes, where every employee was obeying CCD guidelines. I reached out to Ace Hardware after I came home via email and Facebook. No response. My conclusion is you care nothing about the safety of the community that supports you. I won't be back even after the pandemic. It's Lowes or I I will drive to Hammerhead Ace, where they are taking everyone's safety into consideration. read more

We have always had positive experiences at this Ace location, until today. We purchased a Christmas tree stand. As we tightened the screws to hold the tree in, the plastic cracked around the bolts. Since we live 3 minutes away, we took the stand right back, with the receipt. My husband is a very polite, soft-spoken guy. I went into Vision ACE hardware to purchase the ego chain saw and pole saw $299 and $349 respectively . They are expensive because they give you the batteries and platform to run all of ego's tools. After taking it home I opened the boxes to find both batteries were switched to the older models. This is a significant difference. The new models show the level of power left in the battery and the old ones do not. I called ACE in Palm Harbor and they confirmed they should have the new batteries. When I called Vision Ace Michael had to call his "rep" and he later called back to say he would exchange the batteries. You judge if both boxes sold unsealed had the same error. read more

Don't buy from ACE. I've always tried to buy local but their return policy is ridiculous. I had a defective sprayer that I bought over 90 dats and just now got around to using it and it's defective. No doubt in my mind, this place can be expensive. The coupon book, as mentioned in previous reviews, can help big time. But there are times when you can find the right item where it's worth it! I've also found great seasonal items like for holidays. It doesn't hurt that they have their own Post Office at the store as well! The staff is outstanding and will go the extra mile. I have been to this ACE 10-15 times in the last 4 months and been very happy. My visit yesterday changes all that. I was very disappointed to see that 90% of employees have stopped wearing masks when interacting with customers. When I called today to ask the manager why all of a sudden none were masked as before, I was told that it was optional. I understand that it is a customer's choice whether to subject someone else to the possibility of contracting Covid but it should not be an "option" for employees.
