I have been going to vision care since college, and before they purchased the previous business at their brookings location. I've never had a bad experience until now. I brought a pair of sunglasses (Maui Jim's) into the office to have them tightened. Typically this is a very routine process and quick. Admittedly, I should have gotten to the office prior to 4:55 as they close at 5, and I'm assuming this situation only occurred because the employee was in a rush to leave work. To be fair, I'd likely want to rush out to my personal life, too. The employee returned my sunglasses to me with a LARGE crack across BOTH MY LENSES. When returned I was questioned "were these broken before?" Absolutely not. I had been wearing them on my way to get them tightened. And if broken beforehand, you would think the employee would refuse service as it increases risk on their end for liability. These sunglasses are expensive. Vision Care does NOT care, and is doing NOTHING to fix the situation. Never returning to this business again. read more

Vision Care Associates' doctors are well-known for being primary eye care providers; they encouraging systemic disease prevention, promote eye health maintenance, perform patient education, and diagnose and treat acute and chronic eye disease in a variety of settings. All of our doctors have completed undergraduate study as well as four years of a strenuous doctorate program dedicated to learning about ocular structures, visual perception, and the eyes' role in other systemic diseases.

History

Established in 1977.

Dr. Paul Bell and his son Dr. Gordon Bell partnered their practice of Bell & Bell with Dr. James Olson to form Vision Care Center. Then in 1982, Dr. James Ruch merged with this trio to form the first Vision Care Associates. The first offices were in Aberdeen and Britton, but Mobridge was soon to follow. From there, with the philosophy of bringing exceptional healthcare to rural South Dakota, several other locations were opened around northeastern South Dakota. Vision Care Associates is now South Dakota's largest independent network of eye care professionals with 22 locations in South Dakota and Nebraska.

NOT PLEASED. NOT INFORMATIVE…read more I visited this optometrist today and was not pleased. This was my very first time visiting an optometrist. I told Dr. Tasha Jones this, and asked her to walk me through what she was doing and why. She said she would. Unfortunately, she didn't. She raced through the exam and didn't tell me what she was doing unless I stopped her and asked. She also didn't tell me at all about the eye drops that burned, and she didn't tell me that she'd be using a piece of equipment to press on my eye to determine pressure. I only found out because after she did that she said my pressure is fine. I asked, "How do you find out pressure?" She responded, "It touched your eye. Most people don't want to know we'll be touching their eyes." I specifically asked to be told what was happening! She didn't tell me. That is horrible. All she would have had to say was, "This drop numbs the eye, and this equipment lightly touches the eye to measure pressure." It's that simple. No big deal. But unfortunately, she felt she had to hide that from me. After the exam I asked what the results were. She responded with something vague like, "It's good. Your eyes are healthy." When I asked what my vision was I received another vague answer. I then asked, "If you had to write down a number, what would it be?" Finally, I got an answer. It was like pulling teeth to get an answer. I am very displeased with Dr. Tasha Jones as an optometrist.
