Walmart Vision Center - Farmingdale, NY | Optician Michael Pignataro…read moreFinding a truly exceptional optician is rarer than most people realize. It requires a professional who combines clinical precision with genuine human warmth -- someone who understands that eyecare is not merely transactional, but deeply personal. At the Walmart Vision Center in Farmingdale, Long Island, I found exactly that person in Optician Michael Pignataro, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. From the moment I walked through the door, Michael's approach set a completely different tone from what I had experienced at other optical centers. He greeted me with calm professionalism and immediately made me feel at ease. There was no rushing, no impersonal checklist energy -- just focused, attentive care from a seasoned expert who clearly loves what he does. Michael's knowledge of optics is extraordinary. When reviewing my prescription, he took the time to explain every measurement in plain, accessible language -- something most optical professionals simply don't do. He walked me through the differences between lens materials, coating options, and the latest progressive lens technologies with the kind of depth you'd expect from a professor, not a retail optician. Yet he never talked down to me or made me feel overwhelmed. He calibrated his explanations perfectly to my level of understanding, checked in to make sure I was following along, and invited every question I had. That kind of patient communication is a rare gift. The frame selection process was equally impressive. Michael has a remarkable eye for pairing the right frame to a patient's face shape, complexion, and lifestyle needs. He offered honest, thoughtful feedback rather than just steering me toward the most expensive options. He listened carefully when I described how I use my glasses -- for extended computer work, reading, and driving -- and then made specific, well-reasoned recommendations tailored to exactly those demands. I ended up with lenses and frames that have genuinely transformed my daily life, and I credit Michael's expertise entirely for that outcome. What also stood out was his meticulous attention to the fitting process. Michael adjusted my frames with surgical precision, checking and rechecking the alignment, nose pad pressure, and temple fit until everything was perfect. He explained what he was doing at each step, which gave me tremendous confidence that my eyewear was in expert hands. Most people don't realize how critical a proper fit is to optical performance -- Michael does, and he ensures his patients benefit from that knowledge. Beyond his professional excellence, Michael Pignataro is simply a wonderful human being. His warmth, patience, and genuine investment in each patient's wellbeing elevate the entire experience. If you are in need of eyecare services on Long Island and want to be treated with expertise, respect, and real personal attention, look no further. Michael Pignataro at the Walmart Vision Center in Farmingdale is, without question, among the finest opticians on Long Island. He is a true professional and an absolute credit to his field.

This review is about a few eyeglass prescriptions from a few years back. Dr. Jay Siegall was…read moreterrible. His prescriptions totally messed up my eyes. Which took proper lenses (ordered online elsewhere) and years of eye exercises to finally correct. He blamed my eyes and wouldn't admit he made mistakes in my lenses. He gave me a hard time when I asked for my prescription in writing. Only after I kept coming back, he forced an optician to hand it to me instead of having the guts to hand it to me face to face. He was too "busy." After looking at it, I was able to see what he did to me. It turns out he gave me Monovision without telling me. His prescriptions gave me headaches, blurry vision, double vision and loss of depth perception. Finally, years later, I can finally say I can see much better now. No thanks to Dr. Siegall and his bad attitude and refusal to admit and correct his mistakes.

I was told there WAS glare guard on the lenses, just like the glasses I previously bought from there. He told me I needed to get "used to them". Went back again today, 6/3, still not being able to drive with them at night due to glare. This time the woman told me there was NOT glare guard on my lenses! In order to correct this I would need to pay $70 additional for different lenses! I asked for a refund and she processed it for me. Went to Costco and got everything I originally asked for, for less money! Hopefully this will still be true after I get the glasses back from manufacturer. At this point I can't be sure after being lied to twice at Target Optical. Does everyone lie just to make a sale?

I was SUCH a big fan of this Levittown location that I suggested my husband go there for his eye exam and new glasses. I met him there to pick out new frames and am still in SHOCK over how RUDE the woman working there was to us. The doctor had told my husband it was ok to look around at frames, try them on, etc, which he did, while waiting for me to come and help. A few minutes later, he met me outside the optical store in the pharmacy and we walked in together. The girl behind the desk greeted us, asked me to wear a mask (never a problem) and then my husband proceeded to try on frames. After handling 1 or 2 and trying them on, she informed us that "All of those frames you tried on need to be sanitized after you try them on". -- which we didn't realize, so started to apologize until she followed up with "So all the ones you've put back, take them off." Totally rude. No please, no reminder that she needed to help us instead of us helping ourselves, just this UNfriendly tone and demand that was anything but customer service-driven. We looked at her in shock - "How about a please?" Apparently not - she basically said we should have read the sign and that she can only help one person at time. We apologized sarcastically for bothering her and left. Had she reminded us of this when we entered and asked us to wait until she was free to help, we absolutely would have. We both work in high customer service driven jobs and understand how important COVID guidelines are. A very knowledgable and helpful young lady (I think her name is Lindsay, with strawberry blond hair) is usually there and she is really the reason I kept going back there for my frames. I guess I will have to call first to see who is working in the future.
