So, I picked out my frames and the guy gave my information to some heavy-set woman at the desk ( I forgot her name) and she REFUSED to help me until I had an updated eye exam. Which of course is an extra $75 in their pocket. Which I can't afford because I just lost my job and my insurance and can't even afford eye care. I wouldn't have gone to the eye doctor or to get new glasses if the piece of crap glass frame didn't break. So now they are holding my sight hostage until I can come up with all this money for the eye exam, frames, lenses and whatever other BS they try to sell me. Also Warning they want 100% payment upfront. Apparently, there's new management and it got even worse.

Received an email from them about filling out paperwork. Opened the attachment and someone else's information is on there. Their name, address, DOB, and insurance info. I figured since she didn't know all my details maybe that was a natural order of things. They took my old frames which are really good designer frames and made the glasses to fit them. No additional charge of course but a waiver in case something happened in processing that they were not responsible for your frames. The only problem is the way the glasses sit in my frames doesn't seem to align with my vision issues. I think I waited too long (the statute of limitations I'm bringing them back for adjustment has expired ) and so now I'm suffering with pushing my glasses up and down, depending on what I'm looking at. I might give him another chance, but the service was unfortunately not standard across the board.

Dr recommended that I purchase wide progressive lenses. I made sure that he added this to the prescription. However I never saw the prescription until after my glasses were paid. I should have been smart enough to notice that. However the friendliness of the place was deceiving. When i first sat down with Izabella, I mentioned to that I needed wide progressive lenses. My prescription required these lenses in order to correct my vision problem. We negotiated a price for my glasses. At times I felt like I was in a car showroom negotiating every point. Finally we agreed on the price. Izabella was able to get to my price by deleting the wide progressive lenses that I required Izabella took it upon herself to delete that very important requirement without discussing with me. I only discovered the issue after my glasses were paid for and the receipt and prescription was presented to me I asked Izabella how could she on her own decide how my prescription was going to be adjusted without discussing with me or the Dr? After all, was she the Dr? How could she, on her own make a medical decision? Izabella calmly told me that I could cancel the order or bring the glasses back within 30 days. This after spending almost 2 hours at the location. I was flabbergasted. Izabella mentioned to me that I could add $100 to the order and I would be able to get the wide progressives. This is a perfect example of bait and switch. I also noticed on my invoice that she charged me an additional $50 for 1 year product protection plan. This was also never discussed. Nor would I have approved it. After all, what the hell is a 1 year product protection plan on a pair of glasses? So in the end, I was scammed. Stay away from this place. To sum it up in as few words as possibly - "utterly entertaining". I would highly recommend visiting with Dr Speiser just for the entertainment value alone. Would I ever purchase any goods or services there? No, of course not. So the story begins with a referral to Dr Speiser by some other optical place I had called looking for an optician. He was highly recommended but I have a feeling that was motivated solely by business interest, especially given Speiser's fervent inquiry into the identity of the person who sent me there even after I told him that I never got a name. When I had called to book the eye exam, I was told that they took my insurance and that I would only be responsible for a co-pay, which is $25 I believe. However, when I got there, things changed entirely. Spieser had me sit down and and took out a pen and pad, kind of like what happens at a car dealership. He asked me about the health of eyes. I said I appreciate his concern but I had just seen an MD a few months prior and had a complete barrage of exams and that I was just there for a typical eye exam in order to get a new pair of glasses. Unfortunately, my response failed to slow him down. It was at that point, if I recall correctly, that he started writing down the different prices for the different levels or types of eye exams. (Levels of eye exams for eyeglasses???, I thought) I reiterated that I was just looking to get a pair of new glasses. Again, this didn't even slow him down. I could write a book on this but suffice it to say that he was pushing for a $149 exam in addition to I believe the one that my insurance would cover save the $25 co-pay, which would bring the total to about $174. There was a third exam for like $50 and I think he suggested purchasing all three. In all honesty, at that point I was hardly listening to him and had one eye on the door. I think my MD eye doctor charges $150. Opticians on my vision plan charge $0. The cherry on the Speiser sundae was his telling me that he's worth it because his exams are "spectacular". As one of the other reviewers here correctly pointed out, Speiser is utterly sarcastic but that just added to the beauty of the interaction. Book your appointment today, folks!
