I've used the big chains before but the personalized service I get here can not be beat. They go above and beyond with the customer service. I was fitted with the best contacts EVER and they offered better prices than 800-contacts. (They also price matched for a set during Covid and shipped to my house.) I started going to vision corner in 2018 for my eye exam but didn't find much variety in the frames (i prefer larger frames) so I didn't do any glasses shopping with them until this year! I was so excited at the frames I saw that I didn't even stop to look or ask about their prices until the end and then had to slow down because the bill was racking up quick! The staff was quite helpful and luckily vision corner is a provider with my insurance so I got to "discount" some of my expenses. In the end I got my glasses for much cheaper than I expected to pay at Warby Parker. The glasses were ready for pickup within a week! I got a call from the staff and went in to pick them up. When I got there they had me try it on to ensure that I was fully satisfied with them and walked me through my itemized receipt before I walked out! Review is based solely on scheduling. I've been a patient of here for quite sometime (when they were located in the Grand Lux shopping center near Nordstrom Rack and Marshall's) and I was due for an eye exam. I live in cypress and was running 7 minutes late for my appointment but called ahead to notify them that I was on 610 but was calling as a courtesy because with 610 you never know. I was told that I had to be rescheduled since the doctor could not see me which Dr Barnes knows why. I am an advocate for everyone setting time for themselves but this was lack of communication between the office. There is a grace period for patients to arrive and this time I was not honored that on top of being a patient for such a long time. I was reluctant to post a review but I would rather be honest. I hope their team can coordinate better scheduling for their patients rather than canceling on someone who drove 40 minutes just to be told you cannot come in. They did try to reschedule me in for the next day and the weekend but I declined since I felt I was not appreciated. read more

I love this place! Dr. Barnes is wonderful, any questions you have about your eye health she will answer. She goes out of her way to help her customers I've been coming here for years now because of their great service and care . It's always clean and the staff is always polite. They are following the Covid-19 protocols and you have to wear a mask inside through out the consultation, they provide hand sanitizer and you do have to wait a little longer due to the staff regularly sanitizing the office. Came here and very excited, come to only Find out it's APPOINTMENT ONLY! Sad because I drove an hour to get here once I saw that this location was going to be open. Employees watched me cluelessly look in the window like a peeping Tom due to the sun beaming and didn't do anything besides watch me knock on the door, So disappointing. The place is clean so it seems from the outside I just wish they would have atleast said hello, tell me about how long the wait is usually, or let me know what times are available next. First and foremost, let me just say Dr. Sophia and her staff are amazing! I booked this appointment since it has been forever since I've had a annual eye exam. I was a bit nervous and not very knowledgeable on what all they do during exams, since the last time I went I was under 16 and I'm 23 now. Dr. Sophia was very thorough and friendly, she educated me on things that I never knew regarding the importance of your vision. She also told me that things could've been corrected when I was younger and that I've been living with this issue for a while, I never knew that I had a stigmatism (I honestly thought I had great vision). After the exams she provided me with my prescription along with providing me some glasses to try on, I can confirm that after trying on the glasses I'm upset I went 23 years with the vision I currently have. I will be going back to get my Dior glasses that one of her friendly staff members helped me pick (sorry I forgot your name!) I really appreciate thoroughness during appointments with my health providers, as this is an overall uncomfortable experience. I really enjoyed my conversation with Dr. Sophia, along with her acceptance of having my boyfriend in the room with me as well. This is a private practice and local business, so please if you have VSP (that's what I have), please GO SEE DR. SOPHIA! She's extremely sweet. Also, there is a required exam fee for $39 (during your initial form of signing up to go for an appointment you'll be provided details of what it's for). My overall visit with the exam and co-pay was about $70. Not bad at all. The variety of glasses they have is also great, not too expensive! My glasses with prescription were priced at about $470. I was advised once I paid it would be about a 2 week turnaround time. Please keep in mind if you bring your own frames, they will not be insured since it is not coming from them directly. This isn't an issue at all and makes a lot of sense. Another plus, safety measures are still in place. Which I LOVE! Everyone is pretending that covid-19 has disappeared, which if you watch the news and twitter (yes, Twitter lol) -- you will see it's still very much here and not leaving. So I wish I had come here in the beginning before I got my exam done at Vision Optique which did a great job on my exam. The reason for me going to Vision Corner was to see if the prices were similar to VO and they were. But Vision Corner has more glasses that I liked a lot more. I ended up getting these beautiful red Tom Ford glasses. The lady that helped me was so awesome! She was super nice and knowledgeable and wore some nice glasses and had pretty finger nails! My glasses took only about a week to come in. When I picked them up, they were so pretty in this gorgeous Tom Ford box. They also gave me some cleaner and extra towelettes. I wish I had took her advice to get the anti glare because I definitely see a lot of glare on my glasses. I will get it moving forward. I can't wait to purchase another pair, this time a black pair. This place mixed me up with another patient and provided me with the wrong information. The receptionist went as far as trying to convince me that I had an eye infection. I expected a quick 30 minute follow-up and that was not the case. When I was leaving she told me she would call. Without receiving a prompt follow-up or much gratitude, I called 2 hours later to schedule my follow-up for the weekend. To all considering whom to go to for an eye exam, and it is important that you have one every year, let me tell you about Dr Sophia Barnes. I have been going to her for over ten maybe 15 years for good reason. She does an outstanding job and consistently provides great care and advice. A few years ago, I was tired of reading glasses, all over the house, at work, in the car and paying for prescription sunglasses. And had given up to try contact lenses with one being for near and the other far vision. I was having my annual check up with Dr Barnes when I asked her about this. She said, and this was a few years back, that a new type of contact had come out that was multi focal, meaning that you could see both near and far with both eyes. Wow, what a revelation! She suggested I try them for a week and see if they worked for me. Let me say that I have never looked back... I love these multi focal contact lenses! No more reading glasses, no more expensive prescription sunglasses! Do you realize that prescription Maui Jim sunglasses will cost about $1000 vs their normal price of $300! I can buy 3 different pairs of sunglasses for the price of 1 prescription pair! So anyway, in addition to this great cost savings advice, they perform a very detailed evaluation of your eyes so you can know if any future problems are on the horizon. Customer service here at needs improvement. I felt like I did not get treated equally. I came to just check out their frames and a lady said she will ask if I can come in (their door was locked due to covid). So I waited patiently then interestingly, another woman walks up... then a different associate comes to welcome her in (choosing to this woman regardless that I have been waiting) then I was asked what did I need, and I said again to check out your frames then she asks across the room if I can come in and a man said what looked like a yes plus another comment I couldn't hear, then they said we're going to help her and then I can come in... at that point I felt embarrassed and left. A few months ago I got my first eye exam here. I purchased my glasses somewhere else, since they didn't carry the designer I prefer. Once I received my glasses, I felt the power was too strong. I went back to VisionCorner to discuss this matter with Dr. Barnes. She became irate that I challenged her diagnosis. She wrote a harsh description about my previous prescription in my chart to protect her from liability...she is over the top!! Instead of having a conversation with me, she continuously force-fed me her diagnosis. I think Dr. Barnes may struggle with a pride issue. She refuse to hear her patients as they express their concerns. I made it clear this was my first and last time coming to her establishment. Going forward, I will be sure to find a Ophthalmologist who is willing to listen to my concerns, instead of trying to belittle and over talk their patients. We're human & it's OK to be wrong, but not for Dr. Barnes. I gave the rating of two stars because the staff, if nothing else, was very welcoming and accommodating. I came here 2 years in a row not knowing any better. I feel as though Dr. Sophia is more interested in letting you know how many red bottomed shoes she has then really helping her clients. I wanted to wear contacts and the ones she gave me to try (which I then stupidly bought) weren't working so I asked for another brand but she refused and stated I had the best. They were acuvue brand and they irritated my eyes constantly and I couldn't see clearly. She must get kickbacks from the vendor because I find it unacceptable to not provide every client with options. Here we are in 2022 and I went with a new dr and WOW! He gave me 4 different brands to try and they are a world of difference! I can now wear contacts happily and most importantly see where I'm going! they have this separate fee to get prescription for contact lenses, something like $95. I was told my insurance would qualify me to get 10% of that fee taken care of. This is in addition to the fee to get prescriptions for glasses. This has to be just because of where they're located. I left and made an appointment with sears optical and it was $15 for glasses and contact prescriptions. The prices vary for astigmatism at both places, but not by much more than $10 difference. read more

I'm really upset with the service I received today. I drove over an hour for today's appointment just to be turned away. I have a severe tape allergy and was not informed it is required to put tape across my face for my examination. When informed about the tape to "Prevent my glasses from fogging up ." I immediately put on a second mask in hope of getting my exam. The tech told me that was not enough. The tech completely dismissed my medical condition. I also told her the tape would calls blistering or discoloration across my face and I also a severe latex allergy also and she informed me there was no latex in the tape. I wanted to explain to her I was allergic to the adhesive not the tape but I felt like it would not have change the situation. Because she repeatedly told me the tape was a requirement for my examination. I've worked in the medical field for over 25 years and I understand precautions for COVID but today was unacceptable. If you were going to make something mandatory you need to provide all options for your patience, this includes paper tape for patients like myself who have severe adhesive of allergies. 01/18/2021 This part of my review is in response to Vision Corner's comment. I will not remove my review because everything that I said was true. My review was on your customer service and you all are lacking in customer service! Went to Vision Corner for an eye exam and new eye glasses. Received a friendly greeting and was given my exam promptly. Dr. Barnes provided a thorough exam and found some problems with my eyes that I was unaware of... she explained to me what was going on and how to best deal with it in a compassionate manner that put me at ease. I was given a lot of options and styles for frames and plenty of advice as to what the staff thought best complimented my face in terms of style. Definitely a good selection of designer frames. I've been very happy with the ones I selected. The staff did seem new (they had many questions for the doctor in helping me out, particularly with regard to how to process the discounts I was to get from my insurance), but they worked it out and were very friendly and eager to please. Nice frames, but they are expensive and then nickel and dime you. I purchased a pair of expensive frames from Vision Corner 2 years ago and just had them replace the lens with an updated prescription (for several hundred dollars). Upon picking up the newly installed lens I asked if they would replace the soft temple guards that had worn out - was surprised when they charged an extra $10 for the temple guards. A good thing I did not ask for replacement of the nose pieces. I will not go back. After receiving a call from Vision Corner to my review, I want to clarify my comments. The frames I purchased are expensive, but I was not suggesting I was overcharged - the frames are a high quality frame and I think the cost of the frame was fair. My comment about "nickel and diming" referred to the charge for new temple guards which I did not expect at a store selling high quality frames and lens. read more

So I pay for an eye exam and they have a policy, if you do not purchase your glasses there, they will not provide you with your pupil distance on your prescription. Are you kidding me? I paid for the eye exam, because I'm not purchasing my glasses there they won't provide me with that? That is not a consumer friendly policy, nor will they email you the prescription either. You have to physically come in to pick it up. Pretty hard to do when I'm in Miami and I find a pair of glasses I love. This was a disappointing experience. I decided I wanted to look into getting contacts as I was fogging up my glasses wearing a mask and have had a number of trips during evening runs because I couldn't see heaves in the sidewalk. This office was conveniently located and accepted my insurance, so I figured I'd give it a try. The eye exam itself went well. However, my experience in discussing pricing on eye glasses and contacts was embarrassing and entirely inappropriate. Unfortunately, even with insurance, the pricing was outside of what I had budgeted (remember, I was only planning to purchase contacts). I politely explained this to the gentleman doing the fitting and told him that I would have to go through Zenni if I wanted new frames/lenses. He was very understanding, did not get pushy, and walked me over to the counter so I could schedule my next appointment and pay my bill. While standing there, the optometrist overheard that I was not going to purchase glasses through them, but planned to use Zenni. I again apologized and explained that the cost of the glasses was out of my budget. She acted incredulous and repeatedly told me that this was for my eyes and so I shouldn't be cutting costs. At this point I was pretty uncomfortable (it's embarrassing explaining that you can't afford something), but I held firm and just repeated, "I'm sorry, the glasses aren't going to happen." She incredulously asked why she was going to do a fitting for top-of-the-line contacts if I wasn't willing to spend money on quality glasses (note, I did not ask for top of the line). I explained that if the contacts were also overpriced, I would not be able to order them either (the young woman behind the counter was still putting together the estimate for contacts). At this point, the optometrist told me that was bulls**t (her words) and walked off. I admit, "overpriced" was a poor word choice. I have no reason to believe that their glasses and lenses are not worth their price, I just couldn't afford that price. I should have repeated that they might be of my budget, but I was flustered and embarrassed. However, to be repeatedly confronted by the optometrist because the glasses she wanted to sell me were out of my price range was embarrassing and entirely inappropriate. Again, I wasn't even there for glasses--I was just looking for contacts. To have her curse and storm off took that inappropriateness one step further. Not only was this behavior entirely inappropriate, but I also left without the contacts prescription that was the primary purpose of my visit. So I paid for an eye exam, got belittled and sworn at, and left empty-handed. I will not be returning. One final note, the staff (excepting the optometrist) were all great. They are the only reason this is a two-star rating rather than a one-star rating. ***5/9/2020 update in response to Dr. Barnes's comment*** Dr. Barnes, I appreciate your commitment to providing excellent service. I was impressed with the thoroughness of your eye exam. However, I do not believe that excuses your behavior towards me after hearing I was considering using Zenni. Further, I take exception to your assertion that I have embellished my story. First, while I may not have used the word "afford," I most certainly made it clear that the cost of the lenses and glasses were not in my budget. You were certainly aware of this statement as you then explained that your office offered opportunities to purchase on credit. Second, I never did ask for top-of-the line. I explained that I had tried contacts ten years ago and found them uncomfortable due to eye dryness. Friends explained that contacts had come a long way since then, so I explained to you that I wanted to try them again. So to answer your question--no, I do not want the best. What I wanted was contacts that would be comfortable to wear and that would fall in my price range. If that wasn't achievable, then so be it, I would continue using glasses. I shouldn't be embarrassed for looking into that matter and deciding that my personal finances couldn't justify that cost. read more
