After many years of being satisfied with this as my primary and recommended dr to others, I am appalled at how I have been treated by the staff and dr here. I have even paid to have my daughter on concierge service plan in past because I trusted Dr Vu so much. After I finally did some research I realized that I could pay optical insurance out of pocket for a minimal fee (my current work provides no medical benefits) so I happily called Look to schedule my appointment. I was told I would pay the $15 co-pay and a $39 back of eye scan (not a required thing at most drs it's optional). I specifically asked if there was a contact fitting fee as I assumed there would be and the person on the phone said no. I drove to the office which is now further from home in the middle of my work day and was told the total was over $100..close to $150 I believe. I questioned the cost and they explained to me there is an $89 contact lens fitting fee. I said well that's odd because I was informed of the total and booked and drove there based on what I was told on the phone $15 and $39. I am not one to make excuses but I had just legitimately double paid my marketplace health insurance (not cheap) the day before and my account was not in great shape because it was before my next payday so I explained this and also that I was not told the right thing. Instead of showing any level of sympathy or concern for me and my circumstances as a long standing patient (and someone who has paid them thousands of dollars over the years), the option given to me? "You need to reschedule"..I walked out frustrated and saddened by my experience but I sat in my car for a moment and decided no, this was not my fault and they should be more accommodating so I went back in after already feeling embarrassed by how I was dealt with. So I opted to use my contact lense allowance to cover the add'l fee meaning I gave up an extra $30-50 for contacts. Fine..I could be seen. This experience didn't feel completely normal probably because of a combination of my embarrassment (bc I am a responsible adult) and the shortness of Dr Vu which was maybe frustration. But I got seen and was put in a higher level prescription bc my eyes are sadly getting worse. So now I start wearing the trial pair and after a couple of weeks, it's just awful despite buying readers that I was instructed to buy. I call back and ask about my options because this one clearly is not working. Well I can be seen again but the fitting fee for multi focals is more so now I need to pay an additional $46 for a new fitting (and I guess pray it works bc every time I go in there seems to be some new fee) and also order the more expensive lenses out of pocket because reminder I used my allowance for the fitting fee the first time. I don't know what has happened..maybe the break in or whatever but if you want to pay high fees because you are wealthier than I, have at it! I'm certain that someone else will treat me with more respect and care because I feel very disheartened by this experience and now I have been treated/made to feel after so many years and faith in the practice. read more

While in the shopping plaza I decided to stop in to see if a particular pair of designer eye glasses were in stock. I was quickly stopped at the entry door by the receptionist and told that I would need to show an ID to simply look at the glasses. In that moment I felt profiled and discriminated against. I have NEVER heard of such a policy, nor do i see something like that explicitly called out as such. I wanted to give this place a chance, but I will never go back nor recommend. read more

Dr. Vu and staff extremely friendly and helpful. Second time to see them. Dr. Vu took the time to explain issues with my eyes, Keratoconus. No other doctor has explained it. She has fitted me for glasses and contacts and did great with my vision. However, over $1,100 for glasses and progressive lenses felt much. It would be nice to see a breakdown of the expense or prices of the frames being considered. When I asked for price break down I was simply provided with final numbers, which weren't final. Tax was applied at check-out. That did not make me happy. While Dr. Vu is amazing, not sure I would be able to spend over $1,100 annually on glasses. My first pair of glasses with Dr. Vu was around $700 if memory serves me correctly. Might need to search for another location for next year. read more

My first visit with Dr. Natalie Vu for an annual eye exam went very well! She was informative and even took the time to educate me on how my current medication could possibly affect my eyes. I was impressed by her knowledge and passion for optometry. It's ensuring to know that I can count on Dr. Vu as she provided integrity and exceptional care in making sure I left with the correct vision. Aside from my experience, its located in a fairly new shopping center with plenty of parking for those curious about parking. They have a wide selection of frames to choose from and brands like Salt, Modo and Ray Bans etc. They also have some state of the art technology that snapped some pretty clear and gnarly pictures of my eyes that I thought was pretty cool! And lastly, the visit and frames I bought were affordable . If you go within their grand opening celebration there's a promotional deal that's BOGO 50% frames. So stop by and get your eyes checked. How freaking cute. This optometry office is hands down so beautiful. The office looks like it was renovated on the TGC channel! Dr. Vu, the optometrist, is the designer herself! The details she puts in her office can be seen all over her office. From the exam, to how stylish the frames to choose from are! I've always been to random optometrists where they get you in and out, but Dr. Vu was a sweet heart!! The moment you walked in, it felt like you were her best friend as she greeted you! I loved how she took the time to teach me what she was doing and looking at. An eye exam is more than just readings letters off a wall! Who knew! She taught me how to be aware of certain signs of health issues to how to look at my own eyes! Wait for it. Do you guys hate getting dilated?? Worry no more, she has a tech savvy machine that's called the Optomap that will save you that hassle. Not having to get dilated and still getting my full exam means that I'm definitely coming back! read more

I went to look eye care to see Dr Vu because my regular optometrist retired. Her office is sparkling clean and beautifully decorated. Great first impression with office personnel. Met the doctor and she found some things that were a little irregular. She asked me to go to my GP to get a full blood panel. Little did I know that all of my symptoms were pointing to something that could have been very serious and life changing. She then referred me to retinal specialist of Houston. Who did another series of tests. Apparently my symptoms are all pointing to an early onset of leukemia. Thank goodness that was not the case. Dr brown who was the specialist said, "you have a damn good doctor that spotted all this". I feel lucky to have gone to a doctor that took the time to really review my films. I can not say enough about the Dr. Vu & her staff. I wear a very strong prescription lens and had broken frames when I call the office for a appointment and they were able to work me in that day. I can't see much without my glass so seeing what I look like with any new frames is almost impossible . So I have to trust the staff to help me choose the right frame and color that will look great on me. I have to say they worked hard and had me try many pairs on and then working down to that one pair that was the best for me. I will be going back to her from now on. I have lived in Oak Forest for over 17 years and been wearing glasses for 15 years. My past experiences with optometrists, although not bad, seemed to be mostly robotic and impersonal. I watched the property where Look Eye Care is located as it was being built and was impressed by the layout so when I needed to get my annual checkup (really been about 2 years, I know, shame on me) I checked with my VSP and Look was on the list so I decided to give them a try. You know the old saying "Every now and then a squirrel finds an acorn" well this squirrel just found a whole stash of acorns. What a breath of fresh air Look was. I called Monday morning to check on available appointment times and they were able to get me in that same afternoon. From the moment I walked in the door, you could tell this was a different kind of place. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the office layout was pleasant. Being a 60 year old pain in the $#% I was at first a little skeptical when Dr. Vu walked into the examination room seeing that she was young enough to be my great granddaughter but from that point on it was a very enjoyable experience. Dr. Vu was intelligent, communicative, personable, passionate, engaging, and very knowledgeable. In this day of amazing technology which has infiltrated every industry, including optometry, you could still tell that she truly enjoyed the profession and wanted to make my experience a positive one. Heck, she and the staff even helped me pick out some frames that made me look 10 years younger :-). I will be using Look for all of my future optometry needs.
