I had a very good experience at this location. Starting off with the optometrist Dr Brian Bratcher. He narrowed in on my problems with my vision and prescribed me the best lenses. I have had other exams, but none of the prescribers gave me what I needed with regards to my site. Your awesome Dr. as for the young ladies who helped my pick my frames and recommended options, kudos to them also. They were very pleasant and helpful. There names are Ciara and Amber. The optometrist has zero personality. You'll know what I mean if you get him. He barely says hi, goes through the motions of "is one better or two?" Then says the girls out front will help you. I asked a quick question and he said probably and left. He was like this both times I've went. I wouldn't go again he makes you feel like You're a burden.. read more

Posting this rating because of the doctor, not the customer service desk. They were absolutely amazing. The doctor increased my prescription tremendously literally after using the words "I'm tweaking it very slightly, you won't even recognize the difference." and after attempting to wear said glasses, I went back a week later to tell him that the prescription wasn't okay. He did another exam and said the results were the same and I had to stick to the prescription. Only a month later to end up in the ER for the worlds worst three-day migraine that was induced by these glasses. So now I have a pair of glasses that I can't even wear and he isn't going to do anything about it. One star. Zero if I could. I won't be back. read more

Had issues with prescription glasses. Not satisfied with the after pick up customer service. Seemed they had an issue with me because the glasses weren't made correctly. Made me feel as if I was the problem. The person making the glasses had a lot to say about it and a negative attitude. Im positive I will not would use this store again in the future. Every business has competition but the Mandeville location of Vision Optique has them all beat. A combination of happy helpful sales people willing to work with a customer until everything is just right is hard to beat. Adjustments at no charge after a sale is made including glasses that they have not sold you, is just old school service. I brought them in and the young lady (A) dropped everything to find another set of frames, to no avail she searched for what seemed like a very long time and found some that were close, and had them trimmed to fit. We drive 30 miles to Vision Optique because of their fantastic service. The equipment is up to date. The employees have always been super friendly. And, they have tons of frames from which to choose! If we get there early enough in the day, our glasses are done within about 2 hours (or less). We have never had to wait over 10 minutes to see a doctor. The doctors are kind and take their time with you. BUT, the front desk associates are horrible as soon as you ask for your prescription to buy glasses elsewhere. I've even heard from friends instances where they've held their prescriptions hostage, refusing to hand them over. Their attitudes are rude, condescending, and nothing short of scathing. For the price range of their frames, you would think they would treat their customers with a gentler touch. I've purchased 2 pairs of designer glasses here ONLY because they carry a European brand that offers nose pads on their plastic frames. Rest assured I will find somewhere else to purchase my next pair because I refuse to continue to give my business where it is not appreciated. I have worked in retail for 4 years and if I have to smile and be nice, SO DO YOU! TLDR- Go elsewhere. read more

A pathetic business with lying employees. We called our insurance to see if they were on the list and they were, so we called their Mandeville office and asked if they in fact did take our insurance and they said yes and then our insurance company told us they covered contact exam and when we made the appointment the lady we spoke with also said yes a contact exam is covered under your insurance. So upon taking my son to have his contact exam I go to check out and they tried to charge me almost $200. They took advantage of him not knowing when he was having his exam and up sold him some glasses with extra charges on them for some special coating that he did not need and he was not there for a glasses exam. His appointment was specifically scheduled for a contact exam, he had no reason for them to give him the glasses exam and add a bunch of fees except pure greed. read more

They took my insurance on Saturday and were quick and good. My new contacts seem to be pretty perfect as far as correcting my vision. Yay! I really did not feel like taking time off work to get contacts and these guys were friendly and obliging in helping me achieve that goal. read more

I was born with a rare eye condition and have been seeing optometrists since I was 13 months old. I wore bifocals until I was 9 and began wearing contacts at the age of 11. I have worn everything from soft lenses, gas perm lenses, monthly disposable lenses, and now monthly toric disposable lenses. I just moved to the Mandeville area and needed to go in for my yearly visit for a new contact lens prescription and potentially new glasses. First, I did not feel that the optometrist that I saw was very friendly. I told him I had concern because my right eye has begun to droop very noticeably especially when I'm tired. His response was "That's normal." Anyway, besides not having a very good "bed side manner," he didn't have to change my contact lens prescription at all from what I was currently wearing, yet charged me for a contact lens fitting fee (which is absurd to me). At the initial visit, I decided to go ahead and order new eyeglasses because the ones I wear were 2 years old and a little out of prescription for me. I ended up using my existing frames and just replaced the lenses. This cost almost $300 which I felt was a bit steep. Anyhow, I paid the fee and ordered my glasses. What bothers me the most about this facility is that when I received my new contacts AND glasses, my vision was not rechecked by the optometrist. NEVER in my life have I gotten contacts or glasses and the optometrist not wanted to check my vision in the prescription. Never. Even when I went in for the initial exam, the optometrist did not check my vision in my existing contacts. I feel this is extremely unprofessional. Furthermore, why did I have to pay a contact lens fitting fee? The doctor did not once check my vision in my contacts and only copied an exiting prescription I had for contacts from another physician. I will not be going back to Vision Optique. read more

This store is absolutely amazing. Not only do they have some of the best glasses I've ever seen, but their hearts are in the right place. Jonny is one of the friendliest guys I have ever met. He went above & beyond to help me find exactly what I was looking for. It was like having my best friend in there with me, helping me find the perfect glasses to fit my face! He was also telling me about how this company donates glasses to help raise money for animal shelters. Talk about a heart throb of a business! Vision Optique will ALWAYS have my business. VERY SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES. My daughter needed new frames and lenses, decided to give Vision Optique at the Mandeville location off Asbury a try. We have vision insurance. It covers a certain amount toward frames and then a co-pay for lens options. In addition to being charged my co-pay and the a la carte lens options Price, I was charged tax on the retail price for the frames and lenses, instead of just tax on my portion after insurance. So my co-pay was around $220 but I was charged tax on $400. On top of that I was charged 12% sales tax. I'm pretty sure businesses cannot pick and choose how much tax they choose to charge. In addition, when I asked for an itemized receipt I was told that their system cannot itemize a receipt. I will be contacting my insurance company and I will be contacting the insurance commissioner in Louisiana and the state agency that deals with sales tax. I would highly suggest that you choose an eye ware business that engages in ethical business practices. read more

I went to my first appointment with them December 21st. I had an appointment schedule, which was recommended because it was Saturday, and the doctor was over an hour late. I had to wait almost 2 hours before I was seen. The doctor gave me a completely new prescription. I was told that my eyes were "over corrected" and now they had the right prescription. After 12 days I had to go back because my vision was extremely blurry. When I met with a new doctor she told me that my prescription was completely off and that the first doctor gave me the wrong prescription. I was given the right prescription and that has been great. Ordering contacts was a smooth process with them...or so I thought. They ordered my contacts from the first prescription without a followup. After I had my eyes checked again I was told that they would return the contacts and order the new ones. The next day I was told that the contacts would come to my house. To make a VERY long story short: I had to talk to several different people to try to figure out where my contacts were. I was finally told that the old ones were sent back and the new ones were ordered and had come in. Sweet! Except that was wrong. Now I have to go back again, put in another trial pair and wait to order them. Interesting how a process that should have taken a week has now lasted for three weeks. I still do not have contacts and when I tell the people that are "helping" me I get told that "too many people got involved" and that is why it got messed up. GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!!!! read more

I went in a couple of weeks ago and got an exam. It was fine as expected. I have eye insurance so when I went out to see about glasses I was surprised that even with my insurance my total cost for glasses would've been over 500 dollars . I told the desk person that I was thinking about ordering them online instead. At the time she said I could do that she didn't think it was a good idea and if I did do that to bring the glasses in to check and make sure they were correct. After some investigating,I found I could get glasses at a couple places online for less than half of what they wanted to charge,so, I went in to have them measure my pupil distance and get my script. The salesgirl said fine pulled out the thing to measure the distance when an original sales person came in and was furious when she found I was getting the glasses elsewhere. She said they would not give my my script. I told her it was mine.she said they would match any price I got. I told her if they matched a price that was over half what they originally quoted they were taking advantage in the first place. Unpleasant.Buyer beware. read more

I was hoping to get a basic pair of glasses here using my insurance plan. I estimated that the cost should be $45 and $60 bucks if I stayed under my frame allowance. The end cost was $145.00 and I feel like I have been ripped off. My exam Copay was 10.00, they charged me 20.00 because they said I also had a medical exam. That was a surprise to me because no one told me I was getting anything other that a basic eye exam. Then they said that they don't carry basic glass lenses which had a $0.00 copay, they only had the plastic with coatings for $45.00. Next they charged me $44.00 for taxes, I still cant believe that charge. I expected to pay $9.00 for the cost of frames over my allowance. That got me to $118 but when they rang me up it was $124.00. I gave them my credit card and decided I would ask more questions next time. What made me write this review was the extra charge when I went to pickup my glasses. They said that they had forgotten to charge me a materials copay of $20.00. I don't buy glasses often so all of these charges my be very legit, but I felt like I was taken advantage of by this company. I wish they would have taken time to explain what the extra charges were going to be before I had they exam and had gotten fitted for the glasses. When I asked questions about the charges they young girl helping me had some very vague answers that did not make sense, and the last $20.00 charge I paid without question just to get out of the place. My recommendation would be to ask questions before you get your eye exam. Ask them to be specific about the charges and how they differ from your insurance coverage. This is the first review I have ever written but its Friday and I needed to get this off my chest so I can enjoy the weekend. read more

Excellent company - I've had badly damaged frames for over 6 months and could no longer see with my glasses. The staff of my optometrist of 15 years refused to adjust the frames and said that I needed to buy a new pair of glasses. My insurance company recommended that I give this company a try. I just walked into the store and told them my problem. The young man took my old glasses into the back and straightened the damage frames out. I can now see perfectly again. I highly recommend them and will use this company again for any sort of glasses I may need. read more

My first impression was great, they seemed very nice and helpful. The exam was quick and without any problems, until it came time to pick out my frames. Now unbeknown to me my insurance is great on everything except lenses and frames. However, my eye exam is 100% free if I have one exam done a year. They told me it would be cheaper for me to not apply my insurance and do it "out of my own pocket" for half the price. I thought it was odd, but figured they knew and they even stated they looked up my insurance provisions. I paid the exam bill ($75) and left (No lenses or contacts as they wanted $500 as my insurance will not cover...not Vision Optique's fault...but after I said it was too much they decided to cut the price in half...nice but they were originally trying to take $500 from me that they could have done way cheaper). Thinking my eye exam should have been covered, I called my insurer to be sure I was supposed to pay. Sure enough they told me they would have paid the entire bill, as it was my first exam of the benefit year. I called back and told them they had been dishonest, as I specifically asked about the exam and my insurance covering that but it would be more expensive with my insurance applied. In my opinion they were probably going to charge me the "cheaper" out of pocket exam fee AND then bill my insurance too. After demanding my money back, they said they would void my payment and I would pay nothing (like I was supposed too). I think they train their employees to scam those that are not in the know of their insurance. Like I said in the beginning, they are very nice and willing to help but absolutely know your insurance before going there! read more
