I've gone here for an eye exam and glasses 2 years in a row and I'm searching for a new place. First of all, they don't measure for glasses properly. They just ask you to put on a pair and look up at them and market the lenses. I have progressives and all the pairs I've ever purchased from here do not fit properly to my eyes. Second, both pairs I've purchased from here have broken with 6-9 months which is also concerning. Lastly, the adjustments are a joke. They cannot figure out how to make my glasses fit properly and comfortably. Once during a visit one for an adjustment of the employees asked me "what do you want me to do about it?" And they always hand me my glasses back without cleaning them so I leave with smudges and prints all over the lenses. read more

My insurance has a copay of $40. After a misunderstanding about my VSP coverage, they tried to charge me the full amount of the visit, claiming that I had not met my deductible. They verified that was the case. Funny thing, when I called my insurance they told me the exact opposite -- and what I had told the provider. There is no deductible associated with this visit. So, here I am - Friday night and in eye pain because 'their last visit is at 4' -- after their billing mishap. Thieves? Crooks? You decide. One thing I'm sure about -- I won't be going back. read more

Dr Troung found a problem with my retina during a routine exam. VSEC referred me to a wonderful retina surgeon/specialist. I had the retina surgery which went very well. They worked within my budget which was very important to me. I picked up my new red Versace glasses and sunglasses today. I love them. I haven't been able to see this well in years. I could read the 20/20 small print. My dealings with VSEC were spot on. It is rare to see such a large team of medical professionals work as well together as this group. Amazing communication and a serious attention to detail. The main Receptionist is a marvel. I throughly recommend this practice that i picked at random from the VSP website. read more

Dr. Cleavland what can I say..he made the eye exam as painless and efficient as possible. I didn't need glasses and he genuinely seemed pleased about it:) I was hunting for an eye doctor as I ain't getting any younger and my eyes hadn't been looked at in years. I called and got an appointment pretty quick for the exam. I didn't realize he is actually in my neighborhood...how convenient! The staff was pleasant and kind. I waited maybe 5 min and was called into the pretesting room. They did all the test and took me into the exam room. I watched the staff clean and sanitize the equipment being used. Dr. Cleavland then comes in and he is on it. He is talkative and able to chat and work. He answered my questions. And showed me models of the eye and photis of my eye.. He not only examined me for glasses but he looked for signs and symptoms of diabetes and high cholesterol. Now that I found him..I'll be seeing him yearly:) an read more

So I had been avoiding going to an optometrist in an office for a long time (I had just been doing the Target thing...) because my old optometrist was SO slow. A visit would take hours. My sister and best friend recommended Dr. Cleveland to me, though, so I thought I'd give it a try. I got in very quickly to the office from booking online. How convenient! Then I was seen very quickly. The staff was friendly. Dr. Cleveland took the time to explain things to me more than any other doctor has. He has really updated technology and billing was explained to me prior to the service being performed (what was covered by insurance and what wasn't). Best of all, I think my script is finally right. I have astigmatism and it seems like it's been a guessing game to get my script right for the past several years. I'd recommend him to others for sure. read more

I have made 2 vista and seen Dr. Putman each time. He is very kind and thorough. I am a talker and have millions of questions and sometimes want to over analyze things, Dr. Putman quickly brought things back to the matter at hand and gave me a great exam. He didn't make me feel rushed and he explained everything to me also. I came out better educated about my eyes than when I went in! When it came time for picking out my frames that was a different story, JUST KIDDING, Posrsha was awesome. She stayed over through her lunch and took her time as I went back and forth several times. She is a very knowledgable woman and I trusted her. She was very funny while being professional and made picking out frames a breeze. Dr. Cleveland is the optometrist at this VisionSource and he is most excellent. He is a huge "techy" and has the most up-to-date equipment available. He is also a glaucoma specialist and that is important as our eyes age. He discovered a narrowing of some flowpath which can be a precursor to glaucoma and he immediately referred me to an Ophthalmologist for a consultation and if the pre-diagnosis is confirmed, I will have corrective surgery right then. Dr. Cleveland is very professional and I feel lucky to have found his services with so many optometrist services to choose from out there. I highly recommend his services. read more

Attitude, not caring, 10 days and still waiting on my glasses, spent $300 after the insurance so very Pricey !!!

just came back from seeing eye doctor and getting contacts my appointment was at 11:00 I showed up at 10:30 they called me back immediately but eye exam took 2 hours I told them my right eye was hurting and blurry with the contacts they gave me they had me rinse it off put back in I pay them 15 for my copay for eye exam I go eat because after being there for 2 hours I was starving I come back wait another hour to see doctor he says he doesn't know why my right eye was hurting from the contact but the reason it was blurry was because he gave me wrong prescription so he tests my eyes again and gives me a new contact for my right eye puts some drops in my eye says it will seem like contact is dry for about 10 minutes then it will be fine after that and that they are out of the contacts I need but this one is better then nothing and should get me thru the week until my next appointment then he will test my eyes again in a week to find out what the right prescription is that I need so I go home 5 hours later eye still hurts and I cant see well I still cant see and my right eye hurts and apparently I have to pay the doctor another $93 even with my vsp insurance I called insurance they say that I have to pay the doctor and wait 10 days for them to process it then they can refund my money or I can call doctor and maybe they can undo the fee and I can go to another doctor faster they refused and where rude on the phone and said I have to pay it so now I have to go back in a week pay the doctor then wait 10 days for insurance to process the claim then wait additional time for them to mail me a check all because this doctor joe r putman obviously has no idea what he is doing read more

Dr. Melvin Cleveland has been our optometrist for over 20 years. He is an excellent doctor, as well as a caring health care professional. His staff is the best and visiting his office is very pleasant. I would recommend him if you need an optometrist. read more

Dr. Cleveland was a mixed experience for me. His bedside manner was pleasant and was patient with my eye exam. However, the Pupillary Distance was incorrect. I had safety glasses made through my employer which was more econonical for me. I took the glasses to Dr. Cleveland's office to verify that they were made per his presription, and it was affirmed by one of his Optometric Technicians, Toni. I was told by his Optician, Porshay, that I would have to pay another $81.00 for a re-exam. I found her to be loud, sarcastic and condescending. I will never go there again nor recommend them to anyone. read more

Dr. Joe Putman has been my savior many many times. I've gone thru numerous eye surgeries, including cataracts, laser, cornea transplant and an eye problem that is difficult to treat. No matter how many times I need to get a new prescription, Dr. Joe Putman has been sympathetic and beyond patient when he works with my new situation. Dr Putman is regarded very highly everytime I mention that he is my preferred optometrist. In the over 20 years that I have been his patient, his office staff has always been courteous and professional, and very helpful.
