We have homeschooled our children with this school for the past few years and have really loved all of their help and support.

There is something to say about finding the right school…read more The right preschool. The one where you drop your kid off and they don't cry, they don't run after you and make you feel horrible for having a job. They have a clean face and a full belly when you show up for them. They have a clean diaper for the ride home. They have taken and sent multiple pics thru the day. They have a smile on their face when you pick them up, not running crying to you. They have low ratio supervision. The school that you (literally) have never heard a child crying, and i have been there all hours of the day. The school where the staff is dressed appropriately according to their position. Where there is always a genuine smile (or shoulder) for you. The one where actual projects, sand play, water play, art every day are done and the rooms are not destroyed. In February, that's just what we did. I won't mention the school for privacy reasons but anyone who knows they have changed schools knows i have been raving about them. All our younger kiddos go there currently. All I'm saying is, it makes a huge difference where your children feel comfortable enough to run off from you instead of after you. So thank you to all the educators who put in their days seemingly effortlessly to teach our children of all ages. You are making a difference

No one is a number here. Faculty and staff know students well and are very invested in students' intellectual and emotional growth. The school has a wonderful theater program and everyone who wishes to participate may. This is also the case for all other extracurricular offerings -- Speech and Debate, Athletics, etc. I don't think enough people are aware this wonderful school is here, and that needs to change. This is the kind of school that changes and enriches your life.

Her first week was absolutely packed with fun activities. They did tie-dye, a color run, and even took a hike to the park. She absolutely loved it, and it felt like there was always something going on. The second week was a little different. There didn't seem to be as many planned activities, and she mentioned having quite a bit more downtime. It wasn't necessarily bad, but after such a fun and activity-filled first week, I think we were both expecting a little more. The campus itself is really nice, and one thing I appreciated was that there weren't a ton of kids in her camp group. I want to say there were around eight kids, which made it feel smaller and more personal. They also had a really fun potluck, and I've heard they sometimes take bike rides to a local coffee shop, which sounds like such a fun little adventure for the kids. Overall, my daughter enjoyed her time there, especially that first week. I just wish the activities had been a little more consistent from week to week. If both weeks had been like the first one, this easily would have been a 5-star experience. Helpful tip: If you're signing your child up for multiple weeks, just know that the activities may vary quite a bit depending on the week.

I had a bad feeling from the beginning, but because of an emergency, I needed childcare and enrolled my son at La Petite Academy in Gold River. My son is high-functioning autistic, and I disclosed his autism multiple times during the tour and again when we completed the enrollment paperwork. On his very first day, he had one of his autistic meltdowns. Instead of working to help calm him or using strategies to support him, I received a call from the director. When I reminded her that he is autistic, she told me she didn't know, despite me sharing that information before he started. During that conversation, I was told they don't work with children like my son, and he was immediately disenrolled after his first day. Since then, I also spoke with another parent who told me she was unable to enroll her autistic son there. I was also told about an incident involving my older son, where a teacher allegedly yelled at him because the teacher's own child wanted the toy he was using. My son had said he would share it when he was finished, but I was told the teacher insisted he hand it over immediately. Every child deserves to be treated with patience, respect, and compassion. Families of children with autism deserve honesty and support--not to feel unwelcome. This was our experience, and because of it, I cannot recommend La Petite Academy in Gold River. Always trust your gut. I wish I had listened to mine.

The teaching staff is fantastic, they understand kids all have different needs and they go far above and beyond their typical teaching day. We especially want to give a shout out to the middle school team... what a dynamic trio they are :) Here is a little excerpt of an email we sent them personally: "While it may not seem that you are doing anything above what you normally do in a day I want you to know that for us, as a family, you are going above and beyond. Teaching is not just delivery of content, teaching is compassion, empathy and sometimes its talking nervous moms and dads off of a ledge (speaking for myself especially). You have together made this year another learning year and you have treated **** and our family with empathy, kindness, and love. Thank you for all you do. I wouldn't have **** at any other place and I wish all parents could have the experiences that we have with the three of you." Thank you St Mel for the fantastic learning, experiences, and life lessons!! Thank you Mrs. Nagel for keeping all of what happens at St Mel going strong from year to year... you are a gracefully intelligent leader.
