He designed himself and presented a new layout for the backyard. They demo-ed an old broken wooden deck and installed the new paver including a raised / enclosed patio area with columns and retaining wall, a flat open area, and walkways to the garage/driveway and the same matching pathway up the front of the house to the entrance and front steps. His team was professional, neat, and timely finishing the job with attention to detail and high-quality standards - even going above and beyond to make sure the landscaping looked beautiful for our family event. I will definitely work with him for other improvement projects on our property in the near future. Prior to hiring Jose, I evaluated several contractors, and pricing all being relative, but they did not have the wide portfolio of work and experience that Jose's team has which is evident when you work with them and entrust a project to them. This is important when it comes to the details that make the difference in end result looking polished (borders, spacing, curvature, landscaping, etc.)

My first comment is "Jose Velarde and his team are simply fantastic"…read more We had an addition put onto our house and several huge trees had to be removed to accommodate the addition. The largest required the root ball to be dug down over 10 feet which did a tremendous amount of damage to the backyard. Additionally, during the excavation and construction the backyard suffered more damage and allowed crab grass and other weeds to grow everywhere. We considered trying to repair the lawn, regrade and reseed it, but that looked sort of hopeless; so we decided to sod not only the backyard but also the front and sides as they looked pretty bad as well. 3 contractors came to the house, measured the lawn and came with bids including the amount of sod, top soil, lime and fertilizer. Jose's bid was by far the best. The most total area, most sod, and top soil. When the work started and until the work was completed Jose took an everyday personal interest that the work was being done in a professional way, and it was! He told us how often to water, what to look for if a sprinkler head didn't fully cover an area and more, MUCH more. We now have a growing beautiful new lawn with sod from Reid's sod farm in Freehold and we couldn't be happier. I trusted Jose with the work and he and his crew outperformed at every level and detail.
