Nothing but good things to say about Visionworks in Braintree and Pembroke. Eye exams are super easy to schedule online, they do a good job sorting out the vision benefit through my health insurance as well as my VSP vision plan, and then they slice and dice the pricing utilizing the insurance benefits and in-store specials to come up with the different coverages compared with in-store offers to come up with the combinations that get me the most bang for my buck. I also like that they left me alone to try on a hundred frames then jumped in to help me narrow down my 10 possible options to 2 that fit my face well and would work best with my Rx. I have a heavy-duty Rx and own lots of glasses, and the ones I've gotten from Visionworks are my main go-to's because they fit right and feel comfortable. read more

Once again I don't know why I still go here for my contacts and glasses. The average age of the people that work in here is easily 70-80 years old. They aren't just slow, they are snail like. Never in my life have I waited for anything as long as I wait for service in this place. The people are kind but it's reminds me of being in a nursing home. I went in to get glasses. Just to buy glasses. And waited almost an hour. I was just here for my eye exam a week prior so they have all my info. I set an appointment and insurance is in network and I've been to this location previously. Insurance has not changed. They claimed they could not pull insurance and their I could pay $95 for an exam when my copay is $10 and get reimbursed from insurance. When I called VSP, everything was good on their end. hi went to visionworks in braintree for the first time b/c my 4 year old toddler needs glasses. shannon helped us she was so nice, friendly, helpful and patient. my son has sensory issues and doesn't like anything touching his face so having him try on glasses was a challenge to say the least. the other associate even went out to the popcorn stand and got him a cup of popcorn to help make this a happy experience. i let my son pick out his own glasses and to my surprise they were on sale 2 for $100. what a wonderful experience all around. 2 thumbs up! thank you :) read more

Great service. Always clean and quick. I have my examination annually, and usually grab a pair of spectacles of which they usually have a two for one deal. Multiple locations. I came in to do the 2/$49 sale and was greeted right away by a nice older gentleman! He helped me pick out styles that suited my face and was extremely kind and patient with me! I ended up saving over $300 with the sale too! Although I forget the gentleman's name he did write his name down for me I just can't really read it, so I've also included a picture of his name so that management can give him a pat on the back! Went to the Braintree location last night just to take a look at frames. Was rudely stopped from entering by the receptionist so I could get 'cleared". She then proceeded to have a conversation with a store associate. I'm not waiting to have someone clean me to walk around in a store. If you are that worried about Covid then close your doors and hide in your basement. They can keep their cheap frames as I'm going elsewhere where customers are treated with respect. read more

Absolutely appalling and incompetent customer service. My partner left frustrated and in tears because they weren't able to find the coverages for her on a health insurance plan. Mary Ellen was extremely curt, short, and disrespectful over the phone and did not provide any sort of explanation for her treatment of my partner for a routine appointment for her eyesight. She even blamed me over the phone for my lack of due diligence, stating that's " it's not my responsibility to contact patients about [coverages]." This is a clear disregard for professionalism and I will make sure that no one enters this establishment for the true lack of care and consideration for their patients. Mary Ellen, If you read this, I hope this serves as specific feedback of your lack of empathy, consideration, and complete disregard for customers--especially new. I was blown away for my first impressions of the office because of Mr. Chuck Hazard, who worked with me in booking these appointments. He was phenomenal, kind, and thoughtful. I had a wonderful experience here! From the front desk reception to the doctor the customer service was excellent. I was greeted in a friendly manner immediately upon entering. Dr. Mukherjee was wonderful at explaining every step of my vision screening. There was a wonderful selection of frames to choose from, as well. The associate who assisted me in choosing was patient and helpful( I didn't get his name). The associate, Robert who finished up my visit with payment explained what my insurance would cover & what I was being charged for. I have needed an eye exam for years, but dreaded the time or hassle I imagined it would take. I should of taken the time to do this sooner because the experience was very pleasant. read more

Why in the world would I have thought that because this business (formally known as Cambridge Eye Doctors) would have changed, because the new branding. I've been a patient of VisionWorks (formally known as Cambridge Eye Doctors) for over 10 years, and every year it becomes one worst experience than the last. Just recently I decided the new location located in the South Shore Mall in Braintree; and I must say that the manager (Leo) made this one of the most difficult and unpleasant experiences in the 10 years I've done business with this company. Leo has to be one of the most arrogant and rudest people I've ever dealt with. This man is not only verbally abusive to his customers he takes another level by being rude to his employees in front of customers. Leo bad mouths the doctor and talks down to the employees. I will be sure to return back to Quincy so I don't have to deal with him again. On the brighter side, the doctor was an absolute professional and EXTREMELY thorough. read more

I was going to go to a different Visionworks but since I was at the mall I decided to go here. I was uncomfortable most of the time I was there. I heard, what seemed to be the store manager, speaking to a customer about her dissatisfaction with her glasses. He was rude and wasn't very helpful with her issue. I continued to look for glasses for myself and my 2 children. I started speaking with one of the apprentices regarding what I was looking at. All of a sudden, the same store manager (I found out his name is Leo), told the man I was speaking to, to go do something different (almost as if he couldn't handle my sale). My first question to Leo was if they had the frames in stock. He looked at me like I was an idiot and said "yeah, I have them right here". I didn't know if the ones I had given him were samples. Throughout the sale, he seemed to want to get in to everyone that works there, business. The apprentice I initially spoke to was an older gentleman. Leo spoke to him so disrespectfully I actually said to Leo that I didn't like how he was talking to him and that I felt badly for him. He sort of apologized. I spoke to the apprentice after that and told him I did that. He thanked me. You could tell that Leo has some sort of power trip that he's on. Once our glasses came out, my son's glasses were rough around the bottom. I asked if there was anything they could do to buff them out. He said no and that they'd need to be reordered. The way he took the glasses and put them back on the tray, made me think he was going to put the reorder in the store. When I asked if that was the case, he snapped at me and said "no I told you I have to order them". At that point there were several people in the store. I told him that I didn't like the way he speaks to people, especially me. He didn't apologize but instead told me again that they'd have to ordered and picked up at a later date. I said fine and said I'd be back within a 1/2 hour to pick up my glasses that were being worked on. When I went back the glasses he said that had to be ordered were miraculously fixed! I will NEVER, EVER, go back to this store!!! I don't do well with sales people, especially in a management role treating their employees disrespectfully and then carry that type of attitude with him when they speak to customers!! Visionworks needs to seriously review more thoroughly who they put in these types of positions. If I hadn't already paid and had multiple sales done, I would have cancelled the remainder of my items and went elsewhere!!! read more

I usually go to Visionworks in Brockton but since I was in the mall and saw a wider variety of frames I decided to try out the Braintree location instead. I went in with my prescription and just wanted to order new frames but felt super uncomfortable. Starting with the Optician assisting me, he had no idea how the system worked and was waiting for the store manager to assist him but I felt so uncomfortable watching the way the store manager treated and spoke to his employees. They were having conversations about employee benefits and holiday plans while I was waiting to order my frames and leave. The optician that was assisting me was trying to make the situation better by lightening up the mood but ended up coming off VERY creepy and unaware of how to simply order frames. I waited about an hour and a half until I was finally done checking out. They promised me a week for my new frames and failed to alert me that there was a delay until the day of the pickup where I so happened to be on my way to pick them up. When they finally called saying my classes were ready for pick up, I went to try on my frames and they did not follow what I ordered. I ordered anti-glare prescription lenses and I received normal prescription lenses with no anti-glare. I now have to wait AGAIN to finally get my new pair of frames. Next time I will just stick to Brockton Visionworks where service is 100x better. read more

What a horrible experience I underwent at Visionworks at the Braintree Plaza last week. I had bought a pair of glasses in in Saugus.... Wearing them made me very dizzy, so Steve and I went to the store in Braintree to return them. The salespeople in Saugus were extremely pleasant and very helpful. I will never forget the nasty rudeness of Leo, the manager at the Braintree store. Upon entering the store, I told the receptionist that I would like to return the glasses which I had purchased.... She told me to sit down and she would get her manager to speak with me.... Right when the manager approached, he had a very nasty attitude. He spoke to me immediately looking down on me in a very patronizing manner. He told me that the computers in the store had not been hooked up yet... and I could not get my the bill taken off my bank account for seven weeks, however I could exchange the glasses for another pair. If I wanted to return them at his store he said that I would have to wait several months to receive a corporate check in the mail. After I walked out in the mall... I thought about the way he acted and decided that I should report him.... I asked the receptionist for the number for the store's headquarters... The manager must have heard me because suddenly he came running out of his office trying to help me.... I walked out of the store so he could not come after me. When I returned to the store, the once horrific manager, was over pleasantly sweet....and with a cowardly demeanor he took the money off my credit card. After hearing his incessant rambling for more than a few minutes... I told him that I didn't want to hear anymore.. just wanted the glasses taken off my account... And right when I was about to leave the store.... he told me to stay there to be fitted for a different pair.... read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before coming here. I needed a place for both glasses and gas permeable contacts after my previous eye doctor discontinued the contacts. I thought a mall location would be good for an occasional trip, but I have had to make MULTIPLE trips as they cannot seem to get my glasses nor my contacts correct. And surprise, surprise, they referred me to the manager, Leo, who was supposed to call back and never does. I finally reached him today and he just wanted to be argumentative and talk about how it's not his responsibility and I need to talk to the eye doctor. When I asked why no one including him returned my call, his excuse was that "everyone's been on vacation." I have an appointment for later in the week, but this will be my fourth try to get it right. My glasses were too tight in the nose pad area and the wings, leaving deep indents. Leo in the Braintree Visionworks took the time to check both areas and noticed the metal from the nose pad was adjusted wrong and was sitting against my skin, which he corrected. He then opened up the sides enough to be comfortable. After 3 trips to the original Visionworks where I purchased my glasses with no relief, Leo was the first one who adjusted my glasses correctly. Leo is the rudest person I have ever met. I felt so incredibly uncomfortable watching the way he treats and speaks to his employees. I contacted customer service to complain and they never reached back out to me. This place is awful. I bought two pairs of very expensive glasses. The first pair I'm Michael Kors. When I picked them up I was giving a generic case not a Michael Kors case. When I made reference to it I was given a hard time. The person that my glasses could have cared less if they were comfortable or not. I eventually had to go back and have them adjusted. The sunglasses I bought with Vera Bradley. I had them for about 90 days when the lenses chipped. Previously I had Ray Ban sunglasses, in fact I had to two pairs of Ray Ban sunglasses. In all the time I have owned any of my glasses sun, regular or otherwise, they have never chipped. When I contacted Visionworks about the issue they really did not care. I can guarantee you they never have people come in and drop the kind of money I did on glasses. I do not care what insurance I have if they are the only place that is covered I will never go there again. They are often sitting your glasses. They do nothing to help you without your glasses, but they sure are eager for you to spend your money. There has to be a reason that Cambridge eye doctors went out of business and reopened as Visionworks. It's nice to know that I paid $300 for glasses that I now use as a paperweight. I went to this location a few days ago to get my glasses adjusted, and what I assumed would be a pretty painless, routine visit turned into one of the most frustrating and miserable customer service experiences I've had to date. When I walked in, the manager, Leo asked me if I had an appointment (which I did not), but I explained to him what I needed and he said it would be a few minutes, which was fine. I looked around for about 10 minutes when an associate finally came to assist me. I explained to her again that my glasses needed to be fixed and after looking at them for a couple minutes and just bending them back into place right where we stood, she told me she didn't want to break them and sent me on my way with my glasses still visibly crooked. I found out afterward she was new, but we'll get to that in a minute. Before walking back out, i was told by both the manager and associate they wouldn't be able to ask my former location for a copy of my old prescription because it was out of date (which I come to find out is completely untrue.) I was also rudely cut off by Leo by him placing his hand up and stopping me mid sentence because he was busy "dealing with HIPA." I finally walked out with my unwearable glasses and decided to go over to Lens Crafters where lo and behold, they fixed them without issue and knowingly shook their head when I told them about the experience I just had at VW. At that point, I was so annoyed by the utter lack of customer service and the fact that no one even remotely attempted to fix my glasses, that I called Leo the manager to express my grievances. Mind you, there was no point in any of this where I was rude or impatient by any means. He explains to me that the associate who helped me was a brand new apprentice who was afraid of being yelled at if she did end up breaking my glasses. He went on to repeat this, not letting me get a word in edge wise when he finally said he needed to go and, I kid you not, hung up on me mid-sentence. I ended up calling their customer service number because I'd never experienced ANYTHING like that in my life. I understood that she was new, but someone should have been guiding her, and offered to take another look at my glasses when they were not properly looked at in the first place. This place is an absolute nightmare, and the manager Leo is one of the most miserable, arrogant people I've ever dealt with. He should not be in customer service. read more

While Lee (the middle-aged man who seems to own/manage this store) does know many things, he NEEDS TO BE NICER TO HIS STAFF. I've been in this store a few times and it makes me uncomfortable to see how rude and condescending he can be to his staff. They all take it in stride, are used to it... but it's extremely off-putting to have to deal with someone like this. It makes me want to go elsewhere. And it's unfortunate because his staff is very helpful and kind, the total opposite of him. So my wife and I have been to this location at least 3 times now, she's seen the doctor twice, and I have seen him once. Overall the doctor gets 5 stars, seems like this place only books a month out so overall I would give them 4 stars. So on Wednesday June 8, my wife decided that she needed to make an appointment, so she searched yelp for the phone number. While searching Yelp she read the reviews, we were shocked with the 1 star ratings because the doctor and staff were great every time we've been. While reading the reviews, the ratings were all for Leo. We've been in the place at least 5 times asking if the insurance coverage restarted yet, and have always seen women at the front desk and have never seen a male person. She ended up setting up an appointment for the next morning. We walk in and saw three female employees and one male (we looked at each other and smirked). She checked in, we sat down and waited for the doctor. I guess this particular morning, the credit card machine and their internet was down, they were attempting to get it working. My wife is filling out the paperwork and I'm looking at the nerdiest looking frames possible. While waiting, the male employee kept belittling the two older female staff, the younger one stepped out for her break. I've worked plenty of jobs, good and bad, and have never seen an employee talk to another employee like this guy did. I felt like I was watching undercover boss or even kitchen nightmare with one of those managers, talking down on his employees. At one point, the male employee went to the back and I quietly asked the staff who was helping us look up some insurance information if his name was Leo, she said "yes, do you know him?" I replied, "No, but we've read about him on Yelp, no one should ever talk to anyone like that." I'm definitely going to complain to corporate about Leo, until he changes his attitude with his staff or Visionworks gets rid of him, I had to give three stars because of Leo. Maybe I should have spoken up that day, but they were writing down our credit card information that day since the system was down, last thing I would want would be that schmuck leaking the credit card information out somewhere. read more

Went to this location today. Was not that busy was looking around , after about ten minutes still not approached by anyone. Two girls were at the desk. Went to ask a question about frames. The girl holds her throat and apologies that she cant talk. Worse case of larengitist that I ever heard. Ok so if you cant talk and help customers you should of stayed home. The grl next to her was so lazy did not even look at me or try to answer my question. Girl that could not talk, pointed her finger for me to wait a minute she went out back. For the Dedham branch --- terrible service, terrible treatment of customers. Doesn't treat customers with respect. Acts like they are doing you a favor. I visited this location a few weeks ago for a simple purchase. I brought in my own frames to replace lenses in. It turned into a nightmare. The Optician who helped me was very pleasant and understood what I wanted until the manager stepped in. Miserable older man stopped her mid sentence to give in his opinion. He interrupted the entire conversation and told her to go make an adjustment while he figured out what I wanted. The sales girl looked very uncomfortable as he belittled her. Someone needs to look into the treatment of employees in this place. Will never return again. My family is a regular here and we will not continue to come to this location. read more
