The whole staff was wonderful and greeted me with extreme professionalism and kindness as soon as I walked in the door. The technician took me to get my eyes checked and she was a spitfire with a great personality. Buffy, who handled my new prescription and glasses, was a great help in helping me pick out my new glasses and explained everything to me very clearly. The whole appointment lasted 30 minutes, which was quick and easy, so that is another bonus!! I can definitely say I am happy with this new MyEyeDr location and the staff are much better and professional than the staff at the Carmel location. The ambiance is better and more attractive looking than the Carmel location. As long as everything goes well with my new glasses from their lab, and arrives on time for me to pick up at the location, then I am a happy man and will continue to come to this MyEyeDr location for my annual eye exam. I had to physically lift my grandmother's wheelchair just to get her inside. Once inside, the first step was scanning her eyes, and it required both my cousin and me to lift her in order to attempt to position her near the machine. Even then, the scan was not done properly because the equipment was not accessible. Overall, this was a very difficult appointment, and I do not recommend this location for anyone who is handicapped or unable to walk or stand.

I didn't want to go to urgent care so decided to just call my optometrist to see if I could get in today. I called at 614p on a holiday (observing for the 4th). He called me back at 617p. I did not at all anticipate hearing from him until today sometime. I was totally shocked! We talked about what was happening and he told me he could see me (HA! Pun intended) in the morning before his first patient. Bless his entire heart. Got everything squared away and was good to go before by 8a. He didn't even ask for my insurance info or charge for the quick visit. I've been seeing Dr. Hemingway for at least 5 years now and he is just so wonderful. This little story is just an example of how he places his patients first. He is just so kind, easy-going, and very thorough. He is the only optometrist in his practice. Obviously locally owned and operated! I can't say more wonderful things about Dr. Hemingway and Indy Eye. I highly recommend.

During the exam we reviewed images and discussed strategy to deal with my dry eyes. My styling appointment had a ton of styles and colors based on my input. I ended up making my own design with the line of frames that could be customized which was so much fun. They picked out a pair of sunglasses that was absolutely PERFECT to for my face, as well. After picking up my completed frames, it took a little while to get the fit right, my ears are different heights, but they stuck with it until it was perfect for my face. I'd recommend Alternate View to anyone looking for comprehensive eye-care in a beautiful setting with a highly attentive team.

Upon entry you are given a drink menu ranging from alcoholic drinks to different coffee beverages, and are made sure that you are comfortable until seen for your eye exam or styling appointment. I had a very smooth and positive eye exam! I was also fitted for contacts for the first time today, and left with so much confidence on what to do and how to use them. They ensured a proper fit, that I had a good technique on how to get them in/out, and helped me practice multiple times before leaving. They also were able to replace my current glasses lenses (not purchased from Alternate View) which was so nice! I genuinely don't have one negative experience from my visit, which is so rare! I'm also happy to report that everyone was so wonderful with my professionally trained service dog. They welcomed me & my pup with such warmth, and accommodated us in each room we entered throughout my appointment. Though it's never easy having a dog enter a small business, they were so wonderful! ***update*** Today I…read morewent for my final check-up and to go back to my fav contact lens. We did a full regular eye exam after. The nurses told me about taking pictures of my retina but that's on top of the regular eye exam. I thought I didn't need it since I was young so I declined to pay $40 or something. There was no negative feeling from the nurse at all. Then I had the check-up with the doctor. Conversation flowed nicely. Again I didn't feel rushed nor did I feel like the doctor was more interested to talk then to check my eye. The eye exam itself went by efficiently. Then she asked me if I had any other injuries. I said yes, I think there was a scar at the back of my eye. She then told me it's better for her to look at my eye with the retina picture (I think that's what it was called) because she wants to make sure my vision is fine. However she told me there will be no charge. THIS IS A DOCTOR THAT CARES ALOT MORE ABOUT HER PATIENTS than money. Because she's worried & insisted on seeing it, she does not want a $40 to stand in the way. I'm so glad I found her & her clinic when my eyes are in distress. I cannot say enough good things about this doctor & the staff. I came in with extreme eye pain & was very freaked out & scared. The staff there was very understanding, efficient & nice. The form was filled out quickly & we waited for about 15min or so. Then the nurse came in, lead us to a room & wrote down my symptoms. I didn't feel rushed or being questioned too much. Then 5 min later, dr.Burford came in. She was very gentle but firm when she put in eye drops for me. Told me what it was for, & explained everything thoroughly. Then she took careful & thorough look at my eye. After she told me I had 70% cornea abrasion, & assured me it would heal in 3-4 days. Talked in a way that made my worries go away, & reassured me that I would still be able to see. Then she wanted to see me for follow-up after, but my husband works & no one can drive me. Her staff gave me a call the next day, asked how I was doing & even offered to pick me up for my follow up. I thought it got better, so I didn't want to trouble them. Then in the afternoon it began hurting again. So I sent her a message, and she saw me after hours. And she said she wants to see the next day too even if it's after they close to make sure we catch any sign of an infection early. She's just so kind & understanding, and just very responsible as a doctor. I'm so lucky I found her on Yelp.
