I got a prescription last year but my insurance company wouldn't pay for glasses until this year. I tried to get someone to help me and answer a few questions about some frames. No other customers and three people working in the store. Everybody acting like they're busy and wouldn't help. Glad I got a copy of my prescription so I could leave. So I stopped in today (5/23/2022 around 14:00) with an issue with my hospitalized father's glasses. Shellie B. helped me out and did an amazing job and spent extra time with me trying to trouble shoot the situation. That being said, I tried to find a way to give this feedback to the Visionworks HQ but their feedback website (www.eyewearsurvey.com) currently is a dead link going to advertisements. There's no easy direct line to send feedback to the company online and the only option on their website is a "live chat" that immediate freezes on my fully up to date browser. Rude - long wait -wrong pricing - terrible service and not customer friendly and unprofessional

After a great first experience with "VisionWorks"when my wife and I went in and selected our frames and placed our order for 4 pairs of glasses, we received notification that the glasses were ready, so today we went in to pick them up and make sure that they were fitted correctly. That was a joke. Rather than handle us separately,we sat down and the glasses were set on the table in front of us, you know, like self serve. My wife had quite a time having her glasses adjusted, still not right, it's the nose pads. Yes, she is looking to see if they are level, using her face as the guide, and her eyebrows are part of her face and her eyebrows and her ears are even, so that's not the problem, and I didn't really think that the "Are you going by your eyebrows?" Comment was appropriate. I was handed my glasses case and left to handle it myself. I had a good experience with the customer service person that was from Cookeville, TN. , that waited on us when we came in to purchase, but a few balls got dropped after that. The very noticeable indentions on the bridge of my wife's nose after only a very few minutes of wearing the glasses, tells me that they need an adjustment. If this is the service that I can expect, I will go elsewhere and I will notify my benefits representative. I read several bad reviews about Vision Works, but after my first ever visit was pleasant enough, I thought that those must have been anomalies. I guess not. read more

comedy of errors trying to get contacts orders. had to order my trial pair but they didn't place the order, twice! Finally got a pair and they are wrong. Finally "thought" I had everything straightened out and ordered my 12 month supply. Just got a call that they ordered the wrong ones and it was $148 on top of what I had already paid! This Visionworks is appallingly terrible!! Everything that could go wrong did!! From a faulty eye exam prescription to producing 4 pair of glasses from a 3 year old prescription - the whole experience was surreal. When I demanded that they replace my lenses with a new prescription from Vanderbilt- real eye doctors- they agreed. Only to try to back out when I brought the prescription in. I had to finally get my lawyer to write a demand letter to get them to give me the proper lenses. I spent a fortune there and it took 6 months to finally get proper lenses! Actually, I'm still waiting on two pair. Guess I'll have to push them once again to get my glasses to me! DO NOT GO HERE!! You'll definitely regret it! read more

Honestly, this is the worst place to go for any kind of customer experience. They told me they'd call me when my trial contacts came in. They never did. It was dec 12th and I had 3 weeks left to use my FSA card before my funds expired at the end of the year. I called dec 18th, and they were super rude claiming they weren't in. Never heard back. I call today Jan 2, and sure enough they've had them SINCE dec 17th. Even though I called on the 18th myself, and they said no. I sat on hold to speak with a manger for 45 minutes with it finally just disconnecting, so never spoke to anyone. I spent two hours in the office the day of my original appointment, and was never assisted after the doctor finished my exam. I was not able to order glasses because nobody ever assisted me. Terrible experience. Never go here. read more

DO NOT come to this place to purchase eyewear! I am so aggravated about a recent purchase of glasses and sunglasses I purchased here. The lens on the eyeglasses pop out all the time so I took it in to have it fixed and they just popped it back in. They didn't fix it!! The sunglasses I purchased aren't dark enough to keep out the sun so I asked them to have them darkened and was told " that's the best we can do". I could have gotten a cheap pair of sunglasses at Walmart for what good these do and I paid $$500 bucks for sunglasses that I can't wear because they don't keep out the sun!! I had them put new prescriptions in a pair of Ray Bans and now they are RUINED!! SAVE YOUR MONEY. Go to Walmart to buy glasses or sunglasses they are cheaper and have better customer support! I always go to the Mt Juliet location. Sorry to say, but I am rough on glasses so they see me a lot. So much that they all say my name and it's not with a frown. It's always with a smile. My size frames are difficult to locate. Yet, as busy as they are they will take the time and check the other store locations for the frame I want and need. Well, I wish I had seen the reviews before I went to this place. I went to get fitted for contacts. They did an eye exam and then the doctor I saw "who was just filling in" was very nice! Actually the man that was there that helped me with the contacts was very nice also. I am an idiot and new to contacts. I'm 50 and I have never had to do anything like this before. I lost one contact while trying to put them in one morning. I went back to explain what happened and to see if I could get another one. I was willing to pay for it, but didn't need to do so. This is where everything falls apart. When I explained what had happened, the woman behind the front desk gave me a look of anger meets disappointment. Then she said, "Well, let's see if we even have one in the back?". She informed me that, "I was supposed to come back for a progress report.". I said, "That was why I was back anyway. They told me to come back next week" and here I was. She said, "I just ordered your trial pair. You don't even have the right contacts in now.". Uh... wait... what??? Then she came back from the back of the store and said,"Here is another contact. It's the wrong axis, but it'll get you through.". "WTH?", I said to myself. "Why am I wearing the wrong contacts??? Why are you giving me another wrong contact? You just ordered my contacts today? Why didn't you order them last week when I left????" Why would they let me go through with a trial pair that are the wrong prescription? Even if it were to see if I could handle putting them in, shouldn't they be the right prescription?? When I got home, I called a friends of mine that wear contacts and glasses to see if this was normal. "No. This is far from normal", they all said. I liked the initial meeting....sort of. However, the follow up one's have really sucked. Trust me... Contact manufacturers are ok with me losing the one contact, lady. They will most likely giving them money for the rest of my life. I couldn't believe that woman shot me a look of anger as if she were mad that she had to get up from her desk. Just pathetic. I guess I'll go to an official eye doctor. And so was the person that helped me choose my frames. No up sale ans answered all the questions that I had even if they seemed a little ridiculous. Do not use this eye doctor. They try to charge you for extra visits, and then when you refuse to pay for extra visits, they refuse to give you your prescription you already paid for. I've never heard of anything like this before. With the customer service they have there, I'd be surprised if they stay in business. read more

Went in because I was struggling with intermittent blurry vision. Some days my vision would be blurry, the next it would be fine. Scheduled an eye exam. The optometrist I got was one of the most rude and condescending doctors I have ever had. She gave me a full eye exam and insisted there was nothing wrong with my eyes, and said "sometimes people just don't notice that their vision is blurry". She completely dismissed my concerns and made me feel stupid. She kept insisting that I "just need glasses". We got into a bit of a back and forth at the end of my appointment where I was basically begging her to take me seriously and that my blurry vision was truly intermittent and not the result of me "not noticing that my vision is blurry". Well she finally referred me to some other doctor for a brain scan (after a lot of arguing and her talking down to me) but she had made me feel so stupid at that point that I cancelled the appointment. She made me feel ashamed for even coming in. Turns out I had a brain tumor all along. This woman needs to be fired for how dismissive and rude she is. This tumor could've been caught way earlier if she had taken me seriously and didn't just dismiss me as stupid. Her referral to the brain doctor was made begrudgingly as I could tell she was annoyed with me and just wanted me to shut up. Of course I cancelled it, she made me feel like a hypochondriac and I didn't want to waste money on a test that she made me feel like I didn't need. She made me feel like the dumbest person on earth. I wish I knew her name because she needs to be fired, she should've known better than to talk down to a patient and make them feel ashamed for having concerns. read more

We came in as walk in's for an eye exam. Everywhere else was either booked or did not take walk in's without insurance. I have to say, after reading the reviews I thought it would not be a great experience. We walked in and we were greeted pleasantly. The staff care about their patients and the doctors are knowledgeable and friendly. Tomika and Brooke did a wonderful job, they earned their 5 stars!! I recommend vision works for people who are looking to get a basic eye exam, because that is what we can attest to. If you are coming for cheap glasses though, they run a bit high so don't come in expecting Walmart prices for designer glasses. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. This place is a poor excuse for a business. I purchased my glasses here in October 2015 and had taken great care of my glasses; they showed no sign of abuse when the broke on June 2, 2016. Admittedly, I did not purchase the warranty that was offered at the time of sale in October, but I went to this store to see what they could do to fix my glasses or what they could recommend I do to repair them. The customer service I received was deplorable. The employee (who I will refer to as "M,") hardly looked at my glasses and tossed them on the counter, as if they couldn't break anymore than they already were. She looked at me and lazily explained, "you didn't buy the warranty, but you can buy a new frame for 25% off." I stood there for a moment, shocked at her lack of concern and ruthless sales pitch. As I've been involved in sales for the majority of my adult life, I certainly understand the principle behind store policies and warranty's, but I was also floored at the lack of concern for the customer (me) and the focus on the egregious attempt at the sale. I looked her her and said flatly, "no" and then after a moment asked if that was the only option to get the glasses repaired where she once again repeated that I could buy another frame for 25% off. I politely thanked her for her assistance and declined the offer once more. I turned and left. I immediately drove to another optician (Donelson Optometry) where I spoke to Dean. He gave me the honesty and care that I had expected from Visionworks. I explained my situation to him, and he indicated that Visionworks hadn't been honest with me. Even though I had no purchased the *extended* warranty though the store, I am still covered by the warranty from the manufacturer that the seller (Visionworks,) is contractually obligated (since they sell that product in their store,) to honor. In plain terms, I was lied to. I will never, ever go back to this store for any of my eye care needs. I hate the fact that this store cares more about the sale than the guest. I hate the fact that they grossly overcharge for frames (but that's another story for another day). If I were you, save yourself the trouble, anger, and money and go elsewhere...I hear Donelson Optometry is awesome! read more

I had a problem come on suddenly with one of my eyes, so Visionworks was my first choice to get it checked out. Mira Barsoum did the preliminary intake and she was courteous, professional, and provided excellent customer care! Dr. Kelly Short did the exam and she was professional, knowledgeable, thorough, patient, and presented me with several options. I was very pleased (and relieved)! Dr. Short also took extra time to review my insurance options to ensure I got full coverage. It was a joy to see and visit a bit with Shellie Brashear, my favorite sales rep--she is the best! All in all, this was yet another satisfying experience, and is why I continue to be a loyal customer. They are all such a blessing to me! read more

I recently had a pleasant experience with Visionworks at this location. In contrary to many of the reviews I've seen here, my experience was really good. My eye exam was not done here, but I picked out new frames and had my eyeglass prescription filled. In total, I must have walked into the store 5 or 6 times. At no time was I ever ignored. Every employee I encountered was friendly and courteous. The glasses were not comfortable after wearing them for two weeks, so I was able to get a new pair of glasses made with a different frame. The second set of glasses were much more comfortable, and did not cost me anything due to Visionswork's guarantee. All in all, I had a great experience. Unbelievable!!! They denied my refill prescription with 1-800 contacts because "the prescription was expiring soon" ??!!! I was told I needed a new eye exam!! I asked to speak to the Doctor and was told she would call me back but of course never did. There should be no reason I cant refill my contacts the day before the prescription expires if I chose to do so! Wish I had read some of the reviews before I went there! The staff here is always polite and friendly, Brooke really knew her stuff, very professional, and knowledgeable, she let me look around before asking her for help picking the new style which might I add was out of my comfort zone but I wanted something knew and she assured me I looked great in them and when i wore them for the first time all my co-workers and husband agreed. My girlfriend called ahead of time and gave them her insurance information over the phone. She gave them her insurance card when she arrived prior to her appointment. It wasn't until AFTER she had been seen by the optometrist that the VERY rude receptionists decided to let her know that they did not accept her insurance and that sheI would have to pay 100% of her visit. Also, the receptionist REFUSED to give her her prescription for my contacts/glasses. We will not be returning to this location or chain no matter what name they decide to go by next and we feverently urge others reading this review to heed our warnings. I've gone to this vision works for the last 4 years and I believe I will not go back after this year. For the last 3 years my glasses have been an issue. Either the glasses were crooked, the glasses took too long to come in, all products I asked to be applied to the glasses were not applied or the customer service sucked. When I had issues I've never gotten an apology or any kind of concern, but I did get an announcement that I can wait, I can call in tomorrow to see if my glasses are in or how much more money I can pay. I do have to admit that most employees are nice. Just the service sucks. read more

I've had my glasses almost a year now and in that time have had to have the lenses replaced 3 times (their expense) because the coating keeps coming off. I'm not putting anything on them that could do this. They even told me this last time that I shouldn't use tap water on them.... Really? I've had another pair of glasses (not bought here) for a good 10-12 years now and no such problem whatsoever and I don't baby them at all. This is ridiculous. There is something wrong with this coating, but they seem content to just keep replacing it, rather than trying to figure out why this is happening. Certainly a big inconvenience for me. Disgusted....This place does deserve any stars...they need to get their act together...I will drive to Nashville before I will go in there again (except to pick up my glasses they screwed up)! July 2012, went in for glasses but wanted to try contacts...the lenses the doctor prescribed were not even close to my strength, when I mentioned my concerns, he threw another strength to the lady and said tell her to try these (I was sitting right there). I ended up purchasing glasses, which the frame didn't even last a year. So yesterday I went and purchased the same frame so I wouldn't have to purchase new lenses, the guy said we will have them ready tmrw. I went back today and they had lost my glasses...finally found a plastic baggy with no name and they were mine. Of course they had not done one thing with them. The girl she would try to put then lenses in the new frame and she cracked my lense. "Sorry it will be two weeks before we get them (they are transitional bifocals)". Rec'd call that contacts & glasses had come in & could be picked up at my convenience which i did right away & was told they could not surrender my contacts or glasses until i saw doctor again! really you are holding my property that has been paid in full because i have to go through physician yet again??? i was very upset. i have been wearing contacts/glasses for 30+ years & have never had that happen. so i had to come back when i had time to sit & wait again in order to see the doctor in order for my property to be released to me. Best prices on glasses....I think NOT!! A few weeks ago I bought 2 pair of glasses through the BOGO sale. I paid $609.00!!! Hard to believe that I got a pair for free but that is what they told me. They said my lenses were expensive so I believed them and purchased the 2 pair of glasses anyway. When I received them, I was not happy with the placement of the progression in my lenses plus I wasn't thrilled with the frames. They offer a 30 day money back guarantee. When I went into the store to return them today (because they did not have any other frames I liked), they basically told me they would take $300 off my glasses and fix the lenses if I would choose to NOT get a refund. I could not believe they would basically let me have them for HALF of what I originally paid. They even told me to "name my price" if a $300 credit wasn't enough. I was so astonished by this and felt so RIPPED OFF that I just asked for my complete refund. Out of principle I would never go back to this store. Basically they will RIP you off if they think they can. If you go there, make sure to negotiate. They told me themselves, everything is negotiable.
