Highly, HIGHLY recommend Visionworks for anyone in need of an optometrist! All of the stuff I came in contact with was AMAZING! Very friendly and attentive. They have alot of staff there but from what I was told it's definitely needed on the weekends. So I'd note try to avoid Saturdays if you don't want a long waiting time. Goodie for me I was there on a Thursday evening so I was in and out in a flash! Dr. Gregory Eakins was the fabulous optometrist that was assigned to me during my visit and I cannot say enough good words about him! So friendly and overall just a blast to have an exam with. He was able to get me an updated prescription so I wasn't blind anymore, I'm so excited to see better now! I did order contacts through them and was told it should arrive in a week or so, they can have orders delivered straight to your door so that's convenient. Glasses for me would have been 60% off but I prefer to get mine online so I opted out. But from what I saw they have a HUGE selection and that discount is great so definitely check out what they offer. I took my prescription info and order online with Lensmart and got a new pair of glasses with the correct prescription and they transition for $75 bucks.... If you go to this location, then please avoid Diana. I walked in and the front desk clerk was very nice and understood my need. I was headed to go look at the frame selection when Diana joined the conversation. She immediately told me I couldn't use my insurance before even knowing what kind it was. Then, when told that I should verify with my insurance (I already had) she did not believe me and insisted on doing it herself. After trying to contact the insurance, she came to me in the store and claimed that their phones were down and they could hold any frames that I picked. When I walked into this place all of the workers were standing in a corner and was staring at me once I walked in. When I was getting checked in these 2 workers were flinging paper clips and me and then laughing about it like teenagers. They were grown adults. I was assuming when I walked in that the glasses were 50% off, but they were only 50% of on the second. They didn't make that clear till after I was checked in. Came by here today to get an eye exam and order new glasses. I walked in and was helped immediately at the front desk. After signing one paper I went directly back for an eye exam which took about 10-15 minutes total and then out to pick a pair of frames and and on my way. I would give zero stars if I could simply because I have been trying to get a copy of my prescription from this company for around a year now. Why am I still going this long? Just out of spite, honestly. My prescription is almost expired but they've pissed me off so I still want the documentation. When I first started months ago, I attempted through customer service online who said they did not have access to my information and that I would need to go to my local office. Cool. Drive 30 minutes to the office only to be told they couldn't find a prescription for me because they updated their system and my file had been discarded. GREAT. Really appreciated the girl at the front desk talking to me like I was stupid for not knowing that. I've talked to customer service quite a few times now stating they will send my request to records to have my prescription pulled and emailed to me. It has yet to happen. This company is a joke. 5/21 - updating this review and changing it from 1 star to 3, because they finally sent me the documentation I asked for. It's a 3 instead of a 2 simply because the lady who called me from the Murfreesboro office was extremely nice to me when she didn't have to be and needs a raise after having to deal with me. This place has always been just ok service wise. They NEVER answer the phone then when they do they give you the wrong information. The doctors have always been nice, however the admin staff not so much. I called to get my glasses Rx. They informed me I needed to come in to get it so I obliged. I went to order my glasses through an affordable retailer and noticed I didn't have my PD on the script. Called again they said I needed to come in so I did. In less than 10 minutes from the time I called to when I showed up they said they don't give that information out at all. Then looked at me like I was crazy. The Karen looking woman behind the desk all but laughed at me. We won't be back. She said she "couldn't find" the information I was looking for. Not helpful or nice. SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THE PHONE - I called 4 different times and was automatically placed on hold for over 30 minutes with no answer. Someone also hung up the phone when I finally got through I believe because the call just ended. I just needed my prescription emailed or faxed to me and now I am forced to drive 20 minutes to get it in person due to HORRIBLE customer service. The worst! I had an appt for 11am and 2 hours later I finally got my eye exam and another god knows how long just to pay let alone grab a copy of my prescription. I felt rushed during the process as if they were just bringing cattle through. I hope my prescription is right! They took temperature upon entering but the place was packed. Not sure the reason behind that if we're all packed in. It seems like not one didn't know much since it took 3 workers to help one customer. One smelled of whiskey so I hoped I didn't get them yet I just wanted to leave. I wish I would of known before entering or else I would have NOT entered this unorganized establishment. read more

In March 2023. We went to get my wife some glasses at visionworks of Murfreesboro Tennessee. We were assigned to the next "customer service rep" whos name was Matt. From the first visit on, Matt was courteous, kind, knowledgable, very concerned about the customers wishes and/or questions, and had the ability to "think outside the box" to get things done for the benefit of the customer! Now, this comment is coming from a retired business owner that owned 4 different businesses as well as being employed as General Manager for several companies, and has hired, trained, organized many many employees, so I know first hand what the meaning of good customer service it supposed to be like! Visionworks Inc. needs to know how their representatives are treating the public as they are doing just that... representing the company! I went there yesterday and if course was looking for the buy one and get one free. I was told they don't do this any more so this is false advertisement. She said since I had insurance I would have to pay for the second pair. I was told they quit doing the buy one get one free. I have been going there for years been getting 2 pairs as I have a tendency to put a pair down and then can't remember where I put them, and now I will be going else where. Karen was absolutely awful. She had me overpay and never told me what I was paying for. It was only when I went to pick up my glasses that I realized what she had done. My glasses, FYI were promised to be done within 24 hours. It was going to take 14 days until they were available because of the special lenses that Karen never told me about that I paid for being out of stock. So essentially, had my glasses been ready when promised, I never would've known that I overpaid for upgrades I was never told about. Luckily, Matt made it right and issued me a refund. Karen was also there the next day and gaslit me, told me I was lying about what happened. Terrible customer service. I'm thankful for Matt (and had I just worked with him, I would be giving 5 stars) and all he did, but I will NOT be coming back. You lost a 10+ year customer due to Karen's negligence. I've had nothing but a poor experience with this business. From being on hold for long periods of time over a simple prescription check, to feeling like I'm imposing the Dr by having questions about my own vision. So far I've been given the wrong date on an order of contacts twice, partially due to them ordering the wrong set. Which means I'll have to wear my last pair for about two weeks longer than I'm advised. I bought a pair of glasses from this location thinking it was a good deal. That was a mistake. I found some glasses that looked nice and was about half of what other places would charge. I bought scratch resistant coating and a year warranty just to make sure if anything happened, I'd be covered. It wasn't long until the lens got scratched. That was okay, it was probably just a fluke accident and I had the warranty. I took the glasses back and they were fixed. No problem. A few weeks later, a bigger scratch. Not sure how it happened since they were never dropped, but there it was. So much for the scratch resistant coating, but I still had the warranty. So I took them back. Apparently, buried in the fine print of the warranty, they will only fix your glasses for free for the first time within the year that you paid for. After that, you've paid to get a reduced price. It would have cost about $100 to fix my glasses. The only response I got from the guy who is telling me this, "Sorry, I don't make the rules." I threw the glasses in the trash. Spend the extra money and go somewhere else. Their glasses are crap, they don't stand behind their products, and they don't care. read more

Update: Both my prescription and my brother's were incorrectly recorded in the computer(his had an axis number but no cylinder and mine had a negative axis number). Shoddy. Wow. If you are buying glasses and contacts from them, they are great. If you intend to get your prescription and then buy your eyewear elsewhere (Costco, Sam's or 1-800-contacts or anywhere cheaper), they are very uncooperative. I'm trying to order glasses online at Coastal.com (great reviews). While ordering glasses, I find out that I need my pupillary distance. When I looked online, it says just to call the place I had my eyes checked and they should measure it for me. I call VisionsWorks and have the following conversation: "Hi, I'm trying to order my glasses online, but my PD was not included with my prescription. Do you guys measure it?" Receptionist: "Are you ordering the glasses from us?" Me: "no ma'am. Online" Receptionist: "well we can't tell you that then. We only tell you if you are ordering the glasses from us." Me: "So...it's a secret?" Receptionist: "No." Me: "Okay, so how do I find it out?" Receptionist: "um...hold on a second." I sit on hold with elevator music....someone else picks up New lady: "How can I help you?" Me: "I need to get my PD measured" New lady: "Great! Come in and we'll measure it." Me: "The receptionist told me that I can't do that unless I'm buying the glasses from your office." New lady: "oh. You're not purchasing from us?" Me: "No" New lady: "then I can't help you." Me:"okay, how can I find out my PD." New lady: "I don't know." Me: "you don't know where I could get measured?" New lady: "no." Right then, okay and thanks for the help! You just guaranteed I will not purchase from you. I hate being bullied into using a service and will not be forced to purchase from you because your company is being difficult. He laughed and put up with my families craziness all while providing us with exceptional service. I would definitely go here again. I've been coming to this place for the last three-four years. The customer service has changed, and it is not like how it used to be. Granted, you do get in and out a lot faster than the previous years. I knew coming in my vision was horrible (not as bad as most) and my eyes were at risk, but I felt like I was being talked down to. The doctor did not seem to care about me as a patient and the employees were not friendly or welcoming. The 'eyewear stylist' was probably the most helpful, but it didn't change the fact I felt unwelcome. One of the girls that was helping me with my contacts did not inform me about ordering me a trial pair after one of the associates asked if she did or not. One good thing happen is that they were willing to send my glasses to an address while I'm out of town, but we'll see how that follow up goes. If the customer service continues to be like this, I refuse to return back. It's been more costly than before. I work for an eyewear company, and I only come to this place just for the quality of service. I'm highly disappointed in the customer service I received. read more

I had a two o'clock appointment today. All of the employees were making comments about how busy they were. I went to the desk at 2:45 to ask how much longer. The man sighed, went to an exam room to check, and told me I was next to go into a room. At 3:05 I walked out. An hour and five minute bites sitting at n the waiting area, and no one told me they were running behind or asked me if I wanted to reschedule. As soon as u walk in all they see is dollar $$$. They'll try to sell you anything and everything you don't need (even tho ur letting them know all u need is an eye exam). Once they finally get that ur NOT buying from them, they immediately brush anything u say off including the so call Dr. in this building. And in my case they actually had the nerve to freeze my insurance benefit account. So that the actual place that i was getting my glasses and contacts from couldn't access it, without me 1st calling visionworks to have them release my insurance benefits. Which then turned into another sells pitch, which I of course denied because I will never do business with this shady company. After they once again realize that I was NOT buying anything from them. This company took 45min to click a few buttons on the computer to release my benefits. Final thoughts.. Went in today and got through fairly quick which was nice, eye doc was fine, but they didn't ask me about doing the BS eye blow stuff (of which I should have known they were going to charge me $60 bucks more for) but when I got to buying my contacts the girl in sales was training someone and tried to push more boxes of contacts on me than my plan allowed (trying to overcharge me) and kept blaming it on my vision plan which I'm assuming was her sales technique (not a great way to sell by deceiving). When I said no and that I wanted less boxes she was clearly pissed, and when I questioned the "contact fitting" (of which my insurance usually covers contacts and once a year visit) she acted like a brat which was mildly funny but unprofessional. Seriously though...thumbs down to that type of technique. I'm in sales and she just wasn't good at it, nor could back up my questions with even a decent answer just deflections and sass. Just "I don't know I just sell contacts". Truly struggling, felt bad for the new girl so I just ate the BS charge and got out of there. read more

Don't bother using the website to book an appointment, they will not honor it when you come in. Told them I made an appointment and they told me to my face that I was a walk in. Made my supposed appointment for 12:30 and sat in the waiting room for over 3 hours...Most employees act like you're interrupting their conversations with each other if you ask for help. I was in on a Saturday with my 6yr old son. We ended up being there for 2hrs with an appointment. Then we had the rudest Dr. He was extremely impatient with my son and was in such a rush he didn't want to answer any of my questions. I ended up brushing it off. Maybe he's not a kid person...We ended up coming back on Wednesday just 4 days later. My daughter had an eye exam and it ended up being the same Dr. He was again in a huge rush and rude to another one of my children. I'm going to have to say Dr. Price may not like people in general. When I called to complain, I waited on hold for 10 minutes. When I spoke to the manager he said he could pass along the information but that's about all he could do. It's time for us to find a different eye Dr. Even if this is one of the few places that takes your insurance spend the extra time trying to find a better place. It's not worth it. read more

Terrible. Just terrible. I mean wow. Never had such a bad experience in any dr office of any sort. This place needs an award for lowering the bar. First of all I made an appointment. I showed up 15min early, like you're supposed to. I filled out everything and waited. And waited. And waited. Annnnnnndddddd waited!!!! 45min wait to be exact plus the extra 15min early I was there an hr. So I got up and went to the desk to figure out why I was still waiting. "Weekend walk ins" was the reason they gave me. Oooookkkkkay So I make an appointment and the walk ins get to go before me? They finally get me in. Take out my contacts and do tests and then tell me to sit and wait for the eye Dr out in the store. I'm totally blind without my contacts, so I sat there completely blind for another 15 minutes. Finally the Dr. She wasn't so bad but she was rushed because of the amount of people she was seeing. So I'd give her more stars but that's not how this works. I'm rating my whole experience. So after the Dr I go to pick out glasses and wait for my contacts. I pick out a frame and wait till someone will see me. Another person comes and tells me my contacts have to be ordered. I'm used to that because of the strength of my contacts but they tell me my glasses would be able to be made that day. I sit down and lay for everything, it came out $100 more than they had told me so I start to haggle. They chip some stuff away but still ended up $65 more. I kinda felt like I got fleeced by a used car salesman. I ended up being at this place for 2 and a half hours. I mean seriously?! Why make an appointment at all..... After all that they tell me they'll call me for my glasses pick up.... no call. I called that next day and they told me they won't be ready for another week. Following week I call, contacts finally in, glasses not. Ooookkkkaayyy.... 2 weeks later I call and the glasses are in, but they didn't call me because they "don't call people". So why in the hell did you tell me you would call me if you weren't going to? I'd like to offer a big middle finger to this place and seriously hope this review will help someone not make the same mistake I did. I only wish I'd read the other bad reviews too. I called them to ask if I could get a refill for my contacts and Ashley answered and when she checked my prescription she said it had expired March and this being June. I, obviously not knowing how this works, asked if it was possible for me to get a refill anyways because my prescription is was spot on and I do not have a ton of free time to go for an appointment. She became very snappy with me and said I had to do a walk in without explaining why which I simply was just wondering and when I went to say "no thank you. bye" She hung up on me without a word. read more
