Things were ok at first. Good exam, the normal push for upgrades for things I dont really need like any other business. Doctor and everyone was nice. What got to me was the pick up process. I called on Saturday explaining that I had a 10 day trip on Monday morning and asked if my glasses were available for pickup. I was told that they were shipped 3 days ago and were not in yet. "Ok. No problem." I said, knowing I was just hoping to get my glasses before my trip. I asked the young lady if she would please call me if they arrive on Sunday. It's only wishful thinking, but it would be great to get my glasses before I leave. She told me they don't really get shipments on Sunday, but if my glasses come in, they will call me as soon as possible. Then, on Sunday, I get a text at 4:30pm. My glasses were in. My stomach dropped. YES! I will be able to see at the baseball game from the nosebleed seats. I immediately drove the 5 minute drive to Vision Works. They were closed. I called vision works and got the after hours recording. It's funny how an attempt at something good can turn an experience into a bad one. If I would have never received a text saying my glasses were in, I would have no reason to be upset. However, since I got a text after they were closed and drove up there, I got excited for no reason, and to be honest, that feels worse than not having my hopes up. It's like putting pickles on an ice cream sunday. (I don't like pickles.) Once again, the experience was meh, but it could have been great. If you are comparison shopping at first glance Visionworks looks to have the lowest prices for eye exams and eyeglasses. The reality is quite different. On exams they fail to mention that the cost of refraction charge is in addition to the low price they quote for an exam, whereas the competition includes it. The same goes for their great deal on eyeglasses. The frames offered with advertised sale price are so cheap and cheesy most people wouldn't be caught dead wearing them. Beware the pricey upgrades. They casually mention they want to do things like dilate your eyes without telling you that there is a hefty extra charge. read more

They charged me $59. When I asked why it was so much, they said the exam they did was not covered by insurance because they didn't have to dilate my eyes. Had I known, I would've gone with the dilation. I spoke to my insurance company and they advised the claim had not been submitted yet and that I should've been charged $10. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When it came to getting my eyeglasses, it was not made clear what insurance would and would not cover, other than the frame allowance and the protection plan.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Again, what should have been a $20-$30 copay turned into $125 - for one pair. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The person helping me was nice enough, however, I felt like I had been royally scammed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their own ads were promoting an exam plus 2 pairs of glasses for only $89 (not using insurance). Vision Works in Tyrone Blvd. ethics and the knowledge of their new personnel has declined considerably from years past, and in my opinion, they are no longer reputable. This is why: When I went to pick up my new prescription lenses, I could not see. I saw better from my old prescription lenses. The young male clerk informed me that it takes time for my eyes to adjust to the new prescription. I said NO, I can't see and won't take these glasses. I hold the young male clerk to please check the new glasses prescription with the optometrist next door. Found out, the new prescription was entered incorrectly by Vision Works. My left and right eye have different vision prescriptions, but the new lenses were made both to the right eye prescription while the left eye is completely different. So, they sent the lenses / glasses back to the factory. The lenses were paid for and ordered for high density lenses, but what I finally got the second time when I went to pick up the remade lenses was polycarbonate lenses. I could see fine long distance the second time, but I noticed that I was given polycarbonate lenses vs high index lenses. I noticed from the times I was there recently that they no longer have the clientele that they once used to have....now I know why, poor service by new personnel, entering inaccurate lenses prescription, and switching customers paying for more expensive high index lenses to the cheaper polycarbonate lenses thinking customers would not notice. I did not tell them that I knew they switched the lenses to the cheaper poycarbonate lenses because I just wanted the glasses to be able to see and I could see fine the second time after they corrected the new prescription. The polycarbonate is about 20 to 30% thinner than coke bottle plastic lenses and high index is about 60% or more thinner than plastic lenses. So, for not fulfillng the paid for prescription as ordered and for trying to substitute a cheaper lense...........I will never Return to Vision Works again!!! WATCH OUT AND DO NOT BE FOOLED by their polycarbonate vs high index switches. read more

They just tell you that your copay is going to be $35 more than you expect, and don't say it's because of the optional imaging. Visited this store on Friday, April 30th. They were backed up with customers and slow to respond to mew customers trying to enter. To enter you had to have your temperature checked. I witnessed at least one person leaving in frustration when they were not greeted in a reasonable amount of time. Let's be honest, there's nothing super glamorous about going to a Visionworks on a Sunday afternoon to have an exam done. That combined with the fact that it almost never occurs to me to write a review on Yelp for anything other than a hip new restaurant that I've tried means that this review is quite an anomaly.... BUT I felt really compelled to put in a few good words for this Visionworks location--credit where credit is due-- because each person I interacted with on the day of my exam and over the phone several times thereafter has been nothing but wonderful and accommodating to me: Dr. Ben Graham is very meticulous with his eye exams. He went the extra mile to ensure he'd covered all bases when he found something slightly abnormal about my exam. I appreciate his thorough approach and very personable demeanor. Highly recommend seeing him! Latoya and Benton, the examination office staff (as opposed to the retail staff with whom I haven't interacted but may be just a nice) are so helpful and sweet. SO unprofessional. I came for a 12:15 appointment and waited well over an hour. No explanation. Just late. When the eye doctor finally came in he didn't seem to know the reason for my visit and fumbled through the exam. I needed 2 pair of regular glasses and a pair of sunglasses, I've gone to this location 3 times in the last 5 years, their buy one get one deal is a really good deal. They have a great selection of frames, though they don't carry all the top end brands like Ray Ban, the brands they do have cover most of the latest styles. Earlier that day I went to Lens Crafters in Tyrone Mall because I wanted a pair of prescription Ray Bans because VW doesn't carry them, and while I was there I looked at regular frames. While at Lens Crafters I walked around for 5 to 10 minutes before anyone greeted me. I also noticed that Lens Crafters have a limited selection of frames and most of their frames are "high end" brands "aka expensive" ! I bought my sunglasses there and then I went to Vision Works for my regular glasses. At Vision Works I was greeted right away, and though they were busy it gave me time to look at their huge selection of frames. I picked out 2 frames I liked and was taken care of by Millie who was extremely friendly and very professional. Since I have been there in the past she knew from my "file" I wanted the non glare lenses so she totaled up my bill. I was a bit taken back at the price of $400, and thought maybe VW prices had gone way up. Millie pulled up my old order from my last visit and shown me that the reason it was $140 more than the last time was because of the frames I picked out. She pointed out that the cost of the lenses were very close to the same prices as the last time I was there. She offered to let me pick out cheaper frames and gave me the option of regular lenses to lower the cost. After a couple minutes I decided to spend the extra money and go with the frames I picked out with the non glare lenses. If it wasn't for Millie being so nice and patient with me I might have gone with the cheaper option or even left. Customer service means a lot to me, and I left there feeling well taken care of. Plus she said I could bring in my $10 off coupon that I forgot and get the $10 refunded when I picked up my glasses. Also they have remodeled and their showroom was very clean and easy to navigate between men's frames and women's frames. I would recommend that anyone needing a eye exam go to a local optometrist, yes they probably cost a bit more, but you get much better care in my opinion. I've been going to Dr Mason for many many years, and yes he has a showroom to buy frames, but you don't have to buy them there. Just get a script and go wherever you want. :) read more

I work mornings, so when I schedule my appointments I always do so for late in the day. The first appointment I scheduled they called me to cancel. I rescheduled for my son and myself a week later. I missed a call from their office staff telling me the exams would be $49 each. I thought that sounded wrong, so I pulled up my insurance info and according to that I should be paying $10 per exam. Fast forward to the day of appointment and I got yet another call from them that they needed to cancel my appointments and reschedule. Since I had them on the phone I brought up the insurance question on why my exam was so much. The lady told me that this included my $10 copay and the rest was for an exam that looks at the back of my eyes. She told me they have a "new fancy machine" that does this. Her words. I asked if I could just have an exam for eyeglasses and not this other exam that my insurance must not cover. She told me no, that this was part of the exam to get the prescriptions for eyeglasses. I immediately looked up another provider in my network and called and asked how much for exam for eyeglasses and the cost was $10. I went ahead and scheduled my appointments with the new eye dr and called and canceled with Visionworks. I had been going there for a few years but this whole thing feels very shady. read more

The eye wear specialists at this vision works are fantastic, especially Abagail and Milly! They both made our eyeglass and prescription sunglass buying experience very easy and comfortable! They made sure we got the best bang for our buck, helping us save money and dealing with our insurance company! The worst place to have your glasses made. $400 for two pair of Glasses in one of the cheapest frames and my glasses are blurry that I can't even see through the glass. I will never ever go back and I will not recommend this place to anyone. Terrible! Appointment was at noon for a regular eye exam and finally walked out at 3:22pm. Very unorganized office. I asked the doctor twice if I should reschedule and he said no. Not only were they backed up with patients the doctor would ask the staff to assist and they ignored him. Apparently staff were supposed to put drops in my eyes for dilation but left the building and went to lunch. The manager called me the following day requesting my payment. Not once did she ever ask me what happened. When I tried to tell her she cut me off with an apology. How are you supposed to fix your issues if you don't care to hear about the problem? I had no issues scheduling an appointment for my eye exam and was seen right away. I only went to vision works for the BOGO deal. There sign clearly states BOGO on COMPLETE pairs of glasses. When it came time to pick out my glasses I asked if the deal applies to all frames. I was told yes and encouraged to get a second pair. The frames I choose were 250 my total was over 9 hundred dollars with the two pairs. When I asked did that include the BOGO I was then told the lenses are not apart of it. In what world is a COMPLETE pair of glasses not including the lens? Needless to say I did not get two pair and ended up with only one. my total was still alittle over 300 and I noticed I was also charged an extra 75 dollars for anti glare (150 originally. I was told since I was only getting one pair now I qualified for a 50% off coupon.) I was not explained this additional charge at all. Will not be going back. Next time I will go to Americas best where you truly do get 2 pairs for the price of one and the lens are included! I feel so cheated and did not get a good deal at all. read more

By far the biggest waste of time..Doctor office staff needs to learn customer service skills. Sign out side reads walk-in welcome went in and the staff was like well if we get to you today. They asked would you like an appointment my reply I never know what my schedule is like. I booked an appointment on line though the website for 2:00pm on Sunday June 2 as I made sure that I would be off from work and thought nothing more about it. Today I get an email stating that it is time to get your eyes checked from that office so just to make sure I booked another appointment for 2:15 the same day June 2. Now only to call to verify my appointment to be told that the appointments do not show in the system. Here is my issues... 1) do not have a sign if you can not accommodate walk-ins 2) do not have option for on line appointments if it lets you double book or is not regulated. I have wasted hours trying to get this done with this office as I would prefer to go where I purchased my last set of glasses. read more

The doc told me that a complete eye exam would be cheaper than to check a spot on the back of my eye. I have had my eye exams and glasses from Visionworks in Seminole, FL for over 20 years. Had an exam scheduled this morning at 10am. Left without being seen after 30 minutes. I've had the same insurance since 1997. It has never been an issue.  Visionworks refused my insurance for the eye exam. The two receptionists have worked there only 2 months. There is a new computer system. My insurance did not pre-populate their computer screen and they could not figure out what to do. There was no one there who could help. They would not call the phone number on my insurance card. I did. I have only a co-pay for the eye exam. Gave my phone to the receptionists, they were told about the co-pay. Since my insurance did not pre-populate the computer screen, my insurance rep on the phone could not help with that. Another woman came to try to help. She explained they DO NOT ACCEPT health insurance, only separate insurance policies for vision. My health insurance covers eye exams. So I left after 30 minutes with no eye exam.  After over 20 years I will no longer be using Visionworks for eye exams or glasses. read more

Staff seemed indifferent to me and making sure my experience was pleasant. I ended up getting two pair of glasses for one price which seemed like a good deal. When I went to pick them up, the clerk seemed more interested in his phone than me. He handed them to me and went back to his phone. Didn't even bother to sit down and check the fit and vision. Do not use this place at all. DR Graham's scheduling is atrocious. Tried for multiple weeks to get scheduled for a follow up. I was talked down to like its my fault they couldn't fit me in. and then I call back up to get my prescription over the phone and they wouldn't give it to me. They said I needed to get another Appointment so they can make sure they are still good for me. Just another way to take my money. Then the lady who I was talking to started getting rude with me over the phone. Saying my schedule is the issue here not the doctors office. Needless to say. I have gone elsewhere and got what I needed. I would try to avoid Dr Graham office. You will probably get yelled at for just calling in. read more

They sold us a warranty on glasses that were discontinued... when I came in because my son broke them they ordered us a similar pair (they did not say anything about the warranty not working) when I came into pick them up for my son they tried and charge me full price. When I asked about the warranty they said they aren't under it ?!?!? Really ??? Don't sell me a warranty on something that can not be warranted, this isn't the first time I've had a problem with them and I will never go back terrible customer service.
