She is thorough, explains all my questions in terms I understand and most importantly, They helped save my vision in my right eye after I had a retinal detachment. The eye exam was great. When I went to get my new glasses they said, even with 2 different insurance plans, my cost would be $310. So I decided to go back to Costco. With 1 insurance and them in network but not "preferred", the Versace glasses with all the bells and whistles, that is included at no extra charge, cost me $147. And they were so helpful. At Visionworks I had to shop while th3 lady sat on her tablet. She didn't come alive until it looked like she might make a sale. VSP insurance owns Visionworks so they give you more of a frame allowance but charge extra for everything else. Do yourself a favor and shop around!!! read more

2-star for business practices, 4-star for the service from the store manager. The only problem I have with this store is that they are selling frames 100% higher than almost anywhere else. They charged my insurance $300 for frames that I found on 5 different internet sites between $130 and $160. why? I'm guessing because that's the maximum frame allowance my insurance will pay is $300. This is a perfect example of why our health insurance costs are hyperinflated. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should! If you decide to use Visionworks, do your research to determine what you are looking for and the going price, then don't be afraid to question Visionworks pricing! You probably will be able to get the same product at a lower price elsewhere. read more

This is by far the best experience I've EVER had dealing with the daunting task of getting new glasses and I'm so thankful! Had I know everyone was going to be this friendly and welcoming I would have done it much sooner! I went a week ago for my checkup and I worked with Reneé to find the PERFECT glasses. Coming in today to pick them up by far exceeded any of my expectations. Not only was Nic (front desk) able to find my glasses in no time at all but he also cleaned them and when I made a joke about my sunglasses he went out of his way to clean them too. The girls had me model my new glasses and make adjustments so I left feeling fabulous! I'm sure I came in like a hurricane as this is one stop of many and I'm happy to say that, for the first time all day, it went right. Reneé, Shelly, Nic you guys made my day. I took my senior citizen father to his appointment today. As usual my father insists on using his walker and not allowing us to help or push him. So appointments take quite long. Every single person at Visionworks Tech Center today showed patience and kindness and respect. The entire visit! Came in for an appointment on 3/9 and had a great experience. Was told that I wound get a call by 3/31 to pick up my eye glasses and never received a call. I finally decided to stop in and had to wait 25 min to pick up my glasses. Moreover, they forced me and other clients to wear a face mask. Not happy with the inconsistent client experience. Will consider going to private practice. read more

The wait time was god awful, I went completely unacknowledged for 15 minutes. My first trip here was fantastic, so I was looking forward to coming and picking up the prescription. I have had such a great experience with Visionworks! Both optometrists were excellent and even helped my two year old get a piece of glitter out of her eye. They worked with me when my eyes were very dry and let me try out many different contacts until I found the right one for me. I have been a Visionworks customer for 10 years mostly because of their outstanding customer service but today they went way beyond what anyone could imagine! My frames suddenly broke on one side which made them impossible to wear. I went straight to Visionworks to get new frames. Rene explained that they don't make that frame any longer. I didn't know how I could make it for at least 2 weeks while I scheduled an exam and ordered new glasses. Rene spent 45 minutes working to find a way to make some kind of temporary repair. Through Renee's diligence and dedicated perseverance she was able to perform what I consider a minor miracle and somehow execute an extremely delicate repair and save me from a bad situation. You know that feeling when you find someone that REALLY cares about what they do and doing it masterfully? You get to relax because you know that you are in good hands. I get that feeling when Renee helps me pick frames or fixes my old ones. She is great at helping pick the right frame for my face, listening to my personal preferences (even though they may be contrary to hers), gauging when/if if I am open to her suggestions, and explaining why she is making that particular suggestion. I had a negative experience at another local, optical provider so I called Visionworks at Columbia Tech Center for an appointment to fill my glasses prescription. I am in need of a rather large frame, so I mentioned this to Kimmie ( who answered the phone). She took the time to tell me over the phone how many larger style frames they had in stock. When I arrived for my appointment, she had a whole tray of frames for me to try. Needless to say, I could have purchased most of what she offered and I was thrilled! Unfortunately, I could only buy 2; but I did so at an excellent price. Kimmie was so helpful during this process. I highly recommend Visionworks! read more

I decided to go to VisionWorks because my eye doctor is pretty far and they take my insurance. I have never seen such outdated eye exam equipment. My regular eye doctors equipment had so many more ways to check my vision. This was the most basic machine I had ever seen. So many of the normal tests I would go through were skipped because their equipment just couldn't perform them. Then they charged me above what my insurance covers for the exam. Which had never happened at my far better eye doctor. I also had been using the same contacts for years and she suggested I try another brand - she did not mention they were almost twice as much. When I picked up my glasses they just asked how they felt - they didn't check them to make sure they fit the way they should, if they were even on my ears, nothing. I ended up spending just over $1800 there and had the worst experience and least extensive exam I had ever had. I left feeling ripped off! NEVER GOING BACK. My son gets his glasses - after going to our regular eye doctor at the VISIONWORKS at the mall and they were always very helpful. They help pick out the frames that look good with his shape of face and when they are ready they check they fit and make necessary adjustments. If you do want to try this company go there! read more

Do NOT purchase glasses or contact from this store. It took me multiple visits and hours of time for the staff to finally get my insurance figured out. Then I was promised my glasses in "a few" days. However it has taken almost 2 weeks to get them. The total time from when I walked into the store to when I got my glasses a month. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Fantastic selection. My insurance was simple and easy to use here (Davis Vision). Lynne is a genius at picking the right shape and color of eye wear to compliment facial shapes. She is completely honest which I love. I have to wear the glasses for awhile so I want to be happy with them. It took me awhile to choose, but she is so patient. I believe she said she's been doing this for 33 years. I can't wait to pick up my new green sunglasses with the green polarization!! I will be ordering another pair here once my insurance renews. In addition, I came in with a prescription from my old doctor, they scanned it, but the next time I came in they said they could not find any record of it!! Never coming back. read more

I was referred to Visionworks by my dialysis technician, Brent. He told me they were excellent and easy to work with. And that is exactly what I experienced. Dr. Penske was just the most attentive eye doctor I have ever had. She has an awesome personality and just really cared. The gals in Sales were just as helpful and really made sure I was getting everything I needed to be good to my eyes. I would totally recommend this location for anyone looking for eye care. I felt the need to write my own review after reading others negative reviews. I have purchased a total of six pairs of glasses from here. Three of them were for my son and they were free with the BOGO promo. We just used the BOGO promo again this January and received an extra $50 as an additional promo. There glasses are priced well with all the lenses upgrades we received and even includes transition lenses. I have purchased glasses from other places with insurance and they are still better priced and nothing is a scam. All of the employees there are friendly and helpful and my glasses always come sooner then they are expected. There is only one employee there that i dont like how she adjusts my glasses but she is still friendly. We are there so often one of the other employees knows us by name. We get the extra coverage on my sons glasses since he is only 7 and have used it multiple times and they have replaced multiple of his frames and lenses. I have never had an eye exam here because i have insurance that will cover that, but i would highly recommend getting glasses here, especially for children. read more

I saw Dr. Insaurralde and had the worst experience. I never write reviews but felt it necessary. I went there because I was having problems with my vision . I spent what felt like an eternity being scolded and pushed with personal questions that she didn't like my answer to. Nothing but heavy sighs when I couldn't read a line she felt I should have been able to. Scolded "put your glasses back on" when I couldn't read a line. I was embarrassed because she treated me like I was doing something wrong and wasting her time. It was an experience of much personal abuse that I can't mention due to the personal info. After a strange traumatizing event, I was stunned to receive a call from that same Dr. Telling me she did nothing wrong....I did go off a little since I was in shock that after such an experience, they would have her call me. However, the staff in the glasses department were wonderful! It's a great office, I just would not see this Dr. I also don't have ins and paid $120 for 45 min of verbal abuse. read more

It's hit and miss regarding wait time, all depending upon how busy they are - small businesses are tough to predict customers. I really wish I would have read the reviews here before going into the store, it would have saved me a major headache. I went in to make a quick appointment to get an eye exam then stopped to look at glasses. I was bombarded by an extremely pushy salesperson who just kept telling me what I needed, where to sit and what to try on. She didnt listen to a thing I had to say. i did find a couple frames which they put aside for me. I returned the next day for my appointment. The clinic area was chaos and the people working back there were unprofessional. When I walked up to the counter there was someone sitting on the floor having what seemed to be social hour. The girl that did some of my testing was training someone else and appeared to have a cold....thanks. When I was done with my eye exam, the frame lady was working on my insurance and trying to provide me with a price for my glasses. After an hour of her coming up with prices ranging fromm 300-600$, I made up an excuse and got the heck out of there. The only saving grace to this entire experience was Dr. Insaurralde, she was warm, kind and thourough. If she were to move to a different clinic, I would see her again. read more
